"How are things going with the mines?" I asked the foreman that had been left here to take care of this place.

"Chief, everything's going fine and we've already mined out the first batch of iron. It'll take some time to pack everything up, but the first shipment should arrive soon."

I gave a nod to show I understood before taking a look at the mines themselves.

It had already been a week since we took care of the Metal Lizards, but it was still surprising that they had been able to rebuild the entire mine during this time.

That just went to show how hard working they were to have rebuilt it all during this time.

Before I could say anything else, there was a bell that was suddenly rung.

The moment that the foreman heard this, he immediately dropped everything that he had been doing and turned in a certain direction. However, this direction wasn't in the direction of the mine.

It seemed like he was heading away from the mines for some reason.

After seeing this, I couldn't help following and asking, "What's wrong? Did something happen?"

The foreman didn't even look back at me as he simply said, "It's feeding time."

A bitter smile appeared on my face when I heard this.

It wasn't that I didn't understand what he was saying, it was just that the words that he said filled me with this bitter feeling.

This was something that we had discovered after taking care of the adult Metal Lizards.

In the space that the adult Metal Lizards gathered, there had been no traces of these baby Metal Lizards at all. That was why even though I had been there with them, I had no idea that there were these baby Metal Lizards in the mine.

It seemed that the Metal Lizards were a species that didn't have a habit of taking care of their young, which was why these baby Metal Lizards had been left in a separate cave.

With the condition of that cave, it really seemed like they had just been abandoned by their parents.

However, we didn't do the same when we discovered these Metal Lizards.

While it wasn't certain if it was possible at the time, we decided to attempt it.

That was why I had left these baby Metal Lizards with the foreman and the miners to take care of.

When I had left them here, it seemed like the foreman and the miners had been scared to approach them. But after a week had passed, it seemed like everything had changed with them.

"You're eating so well today!"

Instead of treating them like terrifying monsters, they were treating these baby Metal Lizards as if they were some kind of pet.

It wasn't as if the Metal Lizards were that cute since they were still Metal Lizards, they still looked like terrifying lizards that were made of metal.

But if I were to say this, there was no doubt that these people would immediately start to argue with me.

I had seen people like this in my past life, so I knew that there was nothing to gain from saying anything about their pets to them. It was best to just agree with whatever they were saying to avoid antagonizing them.

Though the one good thing about this was that it seemed that the Metal Lizards were responding positively to the love that they were showing them.

It seemed that the Metal Lizards were taking these miners as their family with how they showed affection to them.

I had been doubtful that the Metal Lizards would be able to show this kind of affection, but it seemed like I was wrong.

"Well, they are able to form packs in the wild, so they should be capable of something like this. It's just that we'll have to be careful when they grow up or else they might just abandon us in the future." I said while watching all of this, but I didn't feel that worried.

After all, it really seemed like they had a close bond.

It was almost like watching the bond between dog owners and their dogs in my past life.

Though while I was watching the miners, it seemed like they were taking things a bit too far.

Most of these miners were young men who didn't have a family of their own yet, so it seemed like they were relying on these Metal Lizards for companionship instead. It was like how young adults in my past life would revolve themselves around their pets.

"As long as they don't cause too much trouble, it should be fine." I said to myself, but I really wasn't that certain.

Still, with these Metal Lizards, it would be easier guarding the mines in the future.

If we could train these Metal Lizards, they would be an effective team for guarding these mines.

It all depended on how they would develop.

Though there was no doubt that they would grow up stronger than the Metal Lizards that we took out.

I had slipped something into their food on the first day.

It was a few drops of blood that I had harvested from the Metal Lizards that had been their parents.

These were drops of blood that had contained the dragon essence that those Metal Lizards possessed.

After absorbing these drops of blood, there was no doubt that the baby Metal Lizards would have their bloodline refined.
