Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 324: Cup

The slimes made their way through the ground while the other puppets continued stalling the Advanced Perfumers.

They made sure to spread out the SOS signals as much as they could so that there wouldn't be too much attention.

But it was only a matter of time before the Advanced Perfumers figured that something was wrong.

When more and more of them started disappearing into these tunnels, they would know that something was happening.

It was a good thing that the slimes made it through before that happened.

The problem was that there was still a bit more that we had to go through before we could reach that item.

"How could I know that it was off? We've never been to this place before and it was already good enough that I was able to get this close." Tempest complained when he saw the way that we looked at him.

In the end, none of us said anything since we knew that he was right.

It was indeed already good enough that his estimate had brought us to this place, so we really shouldn't complain anymore.

But we still did get close enough that we could see the room that the cup was in.

As for how we knew that the cup was in that room, it was all because of the mana fluctuations that were coming out of that room. It was pretty hard to mistake it when there was that much mana coming from it.

Though none of us rushed towards that room.

"Let me take care of it." Faust said before coming forward and waving his hand.

When he did, there were skeletons that appeared from a portal behind him that was his spatial storage.

Once these skeletons appeared, they didn't hesitate to charge down this hallway in front of us that led to the room that the mana fluctuations were coming from.

There wasn't a single moment that they feared for their life.

That was all because they didn't have a life that they were scared of losing in the first place.

With this fearlessness, they were able to make it all the way to the room.

Though most of them did collapse to the traps that were sprung the moment that they ran through this hall.

It didn't really matter since there were plenty of skeletons inside of Faust's spatial storage that he could throw at these traps. And in the end, there was a limit to how much ammo the traps had.

So in the end, there was nothing that this corridor could do as it was flooded with bones.

We slowly walked behind all of the skeletons as they made their way forward.

After all, we knew that the reason that it wasn't able to recover its ammo in time was because of a refraction period. There were plenty of mana fluctuations that were coming from this space, so it was clear that there was a steady supply of mana to the traps.

Once we made it to the room, we didn't enter right away as Faust went to the side and cut something on the wall.

Once that happened, all of the mana fluctuations that were around us stopped.

What Faust had cut was the mana supply to the trap.

His mana sense really was better than any of ours.

Only after this was done did we head into the room.

Entering this room was like entering a completely different world.

That was because this room was also filled with mana.

It was a large amount of mana that almost felt like walking into a wall of mana.

It was as if we were inside of an incubator that was filled with mana.

There was no doubt that this was the perfect kind of place for a magician to train themselves in. It was also the perfect place for a magician to build their lab since there was plenty of mana for their experiments.

The thing was that this mana wasn't natural.

After coming back to our senses, we looked at the thing that was at the back of the room.

For someone that didn't have mana sense, they wouldn't have been able to figure it out.

But for us, we could tell instantly where all of this mana was coming from.

It was the cup that was placed on a table in the back of the room.

It looked empty since it was filled with something that couldn't be seen with the naked eye.

But if one could see the flow of mana, they would see a large stream of mana flowing out of the seemingly empty cup.

This cup blended in with the rest of the items that were here and the mana flow was so large that normal people wouldn't have noticed it. It was just that we already knew what we were looking for, so there was no hesitation as we all looked at this cup.

"So this is the Chalice of Bounty." I said as I went to go take it, but Faust raised his hand to stop me.

I looked at him with one raised brow, but he didn't say anything as he summoned more skeletons.

They moved in a strange manner as they went over to grab the cup, but they didn't get to touch the cup in the end. There was something that suddenly came out of the wall and hit the skeleton, turning them to bones.

It wasn't anything that the eye could see, but we could all feel it.

It was a ball of wind that slammed into these skeletons.

"Tch." Faust clicked his tongue when he saw this, but he didn't give up as he summoned more skeletons.

"What's wrong? You couldn't figure out this trap?"

Faust narrowed his eyes to look at me before saying, "It was hiding in the flow of mana, how could it be that easy?" Then he gave a snort as if he was looking down on me.

But there was nothing that I could say since it wasn't as if I would have been able to find this trap either.

After making their way over, the skeletons were able to grab the cup this time and bring it back over.
