Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 325: Trap them all

"Now who will this go to?"

Though Faust said this as if he was asking a question, there was really only a single answer.

The one that took this Chalice of Bounty would need to be able to use it properly.

The one that took it would need to be able to control the mana that flowed out from it.

So there really was only one answer since there was only one that focused on the power to control mana.

Yet here he was asking this question without a single trace of shame.

Though he knew the answer, he was still asking everyone this question.

"Just take it already." I said with a sigh in the end.

It was the same for everyone else as we just didn't bother saying anything else to Faust.

But even though we gave this to him like this, he just said with a smile, "Well then, since everyone insists that I take it…I guess I have no choice."

The way that he said this really was annoying and we all felt like punching him in the face because of it. It was just that punching an immortal skeleton in the face like this really wasn't going to do anything to him.

Plus…we were the same person.

Hurting Faust was just like hurting ourselves, so it really wasn't as if it was worth it.

So instead of getting angry with him, we chose to punish him in a different way.

"Since you're taking this cup, go and take care of the Advanced Perfumers up top. They're gathering to make one final push." Tempest said without a single care to Faust.

All of us were thinking the same thing.

Since we were all connected to the slime clones up there, we could tell that the Advanced Perfumers had given up on waiting for their companions to come back.

When there were half of them that disappeared into the tunnels without bringing a single kid back, they knew that there was a problem. They knew that there was something inside of the tunnels that was most likely targeting them.

So that was why they all gathered to make one final push into the tunnels to find out what it was and to save those that they could.

With all of these Advanced Perfumers working together, there was no telling what kind of special perfumes they might have.

But with the Chalice of Bounty, it would be easy for Faust to take care of them.

"Alright, not a problem." Faust also knew that this was the case, so he didn't hesitate to accept.

With a wave of his hand, he already started showing off.

All of us could feel the mana that he released lifting us off the ground as he carried us over to the hole that we had created.

Then with another wave of his hand, we shot up through that hole towards the surface.

This speed really was something else, it was far greater than any speed that we could have reached previously.

It was a good thing that the hole was quite deep or we would have slammed into something with the speed that we were going at.

Though it wasn't as if we would have actually been hurt because of it since there was also a barrier protecting us. Still, it wouldn't have been pleasant to slam into a wall at this kind of speed.

Once he was done showing off, Faust held the Chalice of Bounty in one hand while he started casting a spell with the other.

As he cast that spell, there was an abundance of mana that came out of the Chalice of Bounty that seemed to fuel this spell.

This was one of the ways to use the Chalice of Bounty.

It was an incredible source of mana and those that were able to control it like magicians were able to use it to cast spells that were beyond their own capabilities. Of course, it all depended on the ability of the one casting the spell since they would have to be able to control the mana that came out of the Chalice of Bounty.

It wasn't a problem for Faust to do so since he was far more advanced than any of us when it came to magical knowledge.

Even though we could technically do the same as long as we shared our senses with each other.

The spell that Faust was preparing wasn't actually an attack spell, but rather a utility spell.

After gathering mana in his hand for a bit, he suddenly released it.

The moment that this spell was released, there was a wave of mist that came from him that quickly spread out through these tunnels. It was only an instant, but the tunnels were soon completely filled with mist.

"What is going on?"

"Where is everyone?"

"Where are these enemies?"

Through the puppets and the slime clones, we were able to hear the things that the Advanced Perfumers said.

Then right after that, there were the sounds of fighting and pain that rang out.

But it wasn't as if they were actually fighting anyone.

The ones that the Advanced Perfumers were fighting were each other.

It wasn't that they had been controlled by anything, it was just that they couldn't actually see each other.

The mist that Faust had released was actually an illusion spell.

It wasn't just any illusion spell, it was an illusion spell that was powered by the Chalice of Bounty. That was what made it strong enough to fill this entire tunnel system and bring all of the Advanced Perfumers under its power.

With this illusion spell in place, the Advanced Perfumers eventually all collapsed to the ground.

We had made sure to knock them out before they actually did anything too harmful.

After all, we still wanted their bodies.

"How is it?" Faust said with a proud smile after he finished taking down all of the Advanced Perfumers.

He really was high on the mana since the normal Faust wouldn't have acted this way.

"Hurry up and turn them into puppets already." I said in response without even praising him once.

There was no need to praise him when he was fishing for it like this.
