The escort mission continued for several more days, but the rumours had already spread.
This was a small caravan in the first place, so it really didn't take long for the rumours to spread.
Once they spread, everyone started looking at me with strange looks that brought a bitter smile to my face.
Only if I were to explain it, it would only make things worse.
The adventurers showed that they were on my side no matter what happened, but it was clear that they also had other thoughts. It seemed that they thought that I had sacrificed something important when I met with Rothchild.
There were the kinds of looks that I didn't want cast in my direction, but I couldn't say anything else since it would make things worse.
This continued until finally…
"We're going to take a break."
When this was announced, everyone turned to look at me again.
After all, the place that we were taking a break was in the middle of nowhere just like before.
The last time that this happened, I had been called to see Rothchild and the thing that they thought happened supposedly happened. That was why they were looking at me with concerned looks.
But this time, Rothchild didn't summon me to his caravan.
Instead, we were allowed to head off to gather resources to set up camp.
The adventurers that followed me stuck close to me as if they wanted to protect me.
The way that they looked at me was as if they were saying, "Don't worry, we won't let him do anything to you."
The problem was that I was trying to get away from the camp and the rest of the people in the caravan.
There was a reason why we had stopped here in the first place and it was all because of what we were planning to do.
But since they weren't leaving me alone, the only thing that I could do was…
"Why am I so sleepy…"
That was the last thing that they said before they collapsed on the ground.
I secretly took out a perfume that I had received from Conan and Faust and spread it around the area. This perfume wasn't strong enough to affect me, but it was certainly strong enough to affect these normal adventurers.
One sniff of the perfume was all that it took to knock them out in the end.
I made sure to put them in a safe place before heading off in a certain direction.
That was because the thing that I wanted to find was in that direction.
After traveling for a bit, I finally arrived at a cave.
Only this cave didn't seem like a natural one since there was a gate in front of it that had a hole that seemed to be a special lock. This was something that really didn't seem like it would appear in nature and that was because it wasn't.
This was a special dungeon that had been left behind by the people of the past.
The reason that no one had discovered it before was because it was in the middle of nowhere. This was a place that no one would have come to if they had a choice, so there was no reason for anyone to pass by to examine this place.
It was only because we had our memories from when this world was a game that we knew that this place existed.
After arriving, I found that Rothchild was already waiting for me.
It was only natural that he would be waiting for me since I was the one that had the key to this place. He had given it to me the last time that we met, the time that made everyone misunderstand.
As for why he gave it to me, it was simply because he couldn't keep it on himself any longer.
Rothchild was different from me, he was watched by many different people in the caravan.
It wasn't that they didn't trust him, it was just that he was the boss and there were many people that wanted his opinion. As such, he spent too much time around people and it was risky for him to keep that key.
Once I arrived, he asked, "What took you so long?"
With a wry smile, I said, "If it wasn't for the mess you caused, then I wouldn't have been delayed for that long. I had to get rid of the ones that followed me because they were worried that you might do something."
He turned away from me with an awkward look and he didn't say anything else.
I just ignored him and walked over to the gate before taking out the thing that he had given me before.
It was a strange golden thing.
It was curved and looked like a golden banana, but this wasn't actually a banana.
This was actually a golden claw.
Or it was better known as the Claw of Sarandon.
The reason that it had this name was because of what this place was.
This dungeon was known as the Grave of Sarandon.
As for who Sarandon was, it wasn't a single person. Sarandon was a tribe that had existed in the past that had power that was beyond compare.
But in the end, they fell with the passing of time.
However, their remains and the mana that they possessed had turned their grave into a dungeon.
So the last survivor of the Sarandon Tribe had locked away this place and sent the Claw of Sarandon that was the key to opening this grave far away. This was supposed to be a place that was sealed forever.
Or at least that was how it was in the lore of the game.
I placed the golden claw inside of the hole and there was a click that rang out.
Soon after that, the gate that was in front of us started to open.
But at the same time, there was a cold rush of air that came from in front of us.
Both of us immediately raised our hands since we knew that this wasn't a normal gust of cold air.
