The Primitive Age, Lament of an Immortal(A mythological xianxia story)

Vast Sky 19: True Arrogance

"Oh great virtuous Heavenly Dao, most venerable on high. Most transcendent and beautiful authority throughout all of creation. Though I am very much aware of my sinful existence, and of the source of my origin being seeped in betrayal to your own. Please heed my request.

"Long have I traveled throughout the Three Realms. I have existed since the previous era and hold memories exceeding that. I have experienced life in all forms, met with countless beings both living and dead. I have both watched and partook in history. Across millions of years of my existence, I have reached one truth, that this world is fundamentally broken.

"Please do not take my words in offence as it is no fault of your own magnificence. You are already aware of the trajectory of history and what should or shouldn't happen. It is because time and again, you lent your trust to those undeserving, those who shouldn't have gained it.

"In prehistoric times, you lent my origin your trust and he broke it. He manipulated me, your own son into his puppet and the rulers of heaven and earth into his pawns. Your other trustee, my own master used you for his own gains and sought to undermine you at every turn.

"In doing so, time and again your will has been left up to evil wills. People with their own aims and desires, each with their own perspective on what is right and wrong. But all ultimately ending up in a vicious power struggle.

"Just as how Shenni and his primordial beast horde tore up the Primitive World of old, how The Three Beast Sovereigns crushed countless races underfoot, how the devils nearly destroyed everything. The current world became no different.

"I…I cannot fault this because I am in full agreement. It is simply nature, and I see nothing wrong with it. People want the best for their own, they want to advance their cultivation or grow their kingdoms. There is nothing wrong with this. To seek the Dao is a beautiful thing, to reach higher realms of cultivation is a wonderful thing, to build up a civilization or a sect is a gratifying thing. All things you and I know are beneficial to all existence.

"Hai…but there should be a limit. You and I have seen that there are living beings, immortals or not, who will go to extreme lengths to achieve their desires. No such morals or principles can hold them back. My own master has no qualms against destroying all existence if it'll help him advance. My maker cared not for anything if it didn't give himself gratification. Even a man I treasured as my own brother will stop at nothing to see his kind at the top. There just isn't a limit, no bottom line."

"I cannot watch as individuals lawlessly conduct heinous acts. I cannot stand cultivators who'd use any method to ascend. Seek the Dao, cultivate your foundation, but don't do it at the expense of innocence or the universe. Even deeds of merit shouldn't be absolvance. I can't stomach it!

"Dao Ancestor Hongjun, Eastern Emperor Taiyi, The Three Pure Ones, the Supreme One of the West, the Divine Ancestors. None of them can be trusted. My master especially, he only cares for the cultivation and has no bottom line. He above all others needs to go."

"That is why, please give me your authority. Let me fulfil my original destiny and I shall bring order to the world. I will prevent all apocalypses, I will restrain all evils, I will impart the correct moral conduct for cultivators. I will stop all dangers to the Three Realms and cull heinous acts of needless cruelty.

"I only ask that you look past my place of origin and see my truest intentions. I welcome you into my being. See my sincerity. Make me your champion. In exchange, I am willing to work myself for your being for eternity."

Hu Jiaren slowly woke up hearing long echoes of Haotian's speech. His head was a mess, words spoken made no sense to him. All he saw was Haotian floating a distance away facing a giant mass of light.

The innate god's limbs were outstretched, as if chained by invisible forces and lifted against his will. His body shimmered in a type of light that every crevasse of his body told him to obey.

"Yo…ya….u…" Hu Jiaren wouldn't properly utter his words. His mind blanked and he didn't know why. Somehow, his body spasmed against his will. The cultivation on his body statically moved. Even the system didn't respond to him.

"Yaohrbxboobboobboob…I da…I saw the." Hu Jiaren fell to his knees, not noticing the titanic scales twitching above him. He glanced up at Haotian's form slowly being let go to the ground again.

As for Haotian, he felt like a man just pulled out of water after drowning. Gasping for breath, he resisted the urge to vomit. Every inch of his being was invaded by the Heavenly Dao just now, all his secrets were laid to bare.

All his thoughts, feelings, and opinions of people. It was something he'd agreed to, but still felt nauseous after experiencing. Even the Heavenly Dao was shocked by his words.

Haotian, diverted clone of Da Hai, disciple of Hongjun, Heavenly Emperor of a previous world's fictional myth. One of the few cultivators still using the old method disconnected from heaven. Well he wasn't technically a cultivator, just a person wearing Da Hai's cultivation base through their connection.

The Heavenly Dao abhorred what he represented for a long time. It ignored him for all his life until he forcibly barged into its attention.

"Xuanyuan cannot be left to rule. Taiyi cannot be left to rule, the six saints cannot be left the rule, nor can my master." Haotian stood up with focus. "I love many people, but I trust none of them."

Words of revelation he always found troubling to voice. Whether the Heavenly Dao was pleased or upset by his words was something he could read. But the fact that he hadn't been attacked was a statement of its own.

"IS IS IS STUPID!!!"

"Hm?" Haotian turned at the sudden yell, there he realized Hu Jiaren was spasming while standing. 'I forgot he was there.'

"Haotian g** was stupid, brain not completely dead, only vegetable. Extremely ambition Jade Emperor only was useless failure, very pathetic, and only can hide under table like little mouse need Daddy Saint saved. He is weak, he is not stupid, she actually believe some kind of retarded superhero fairy tale nonsense! Rely on the female stream flowing to fight, cultivation world is bloody battlefield! I saw the do whatever want, no care good boy comic story from twenty-first century! How she can be so brain dead? Must be pure idiot, humble retard fantasy from western cringe land! Western cringe, western cringe, all moral comic western cringe!!!

"Co-owner three emperor five emperor soo much better. Lead the human protagonist against the scammer. Not useless like the streamer. Yuan Yuan, the lord, and daddy are weak. But the vast g** use the good morale are stupid!!! Is a pathetic fool!!! Is useless trash!!! Is the mortal mc victim!!!

"The cultivation universe is the dog eat dog world. Even the Protoss golden fairy wonderland are ants. But the Haotian g** is now good guy like red cloud. She was a tragic loser. I would not be humble good person. I would've defeated the fiend, transcend the saint and usher prosperity for the deity."

Haotian furrowed his brow, taking a good minute to translate what he was hearing. Hu Jiaren only only stood there in half disbelief, half confidence. His jaws twitched to either side, curling upwards or gasping.

It would seem, that he had not completely fallen. Admirable as it was, he still could not control his body, much less his thought process.

The Heavenly Dao had no reaction to this. After absorbing Liu Er's Dao, this had become a natural phenomena of the Three Realms. Ignoring the nutrition of a completed Dao fruit, these 'transmigrators' were entertaining in how they affected the world. Often times, they brought about significant events.

A soul would be born as a conduit for that Dao, much like how raining was an expression of a Dao Law that controlled natural phenomena. Overtime, as they grew, Liu Er'a Dao would reach towards the surface of reality. Then it'll enact its purpose to rewrite all reality as how the monkey saw it. It was the only bit of programming that Dao had, placed at the forefront of everything.

Haotian had studied Hu Jiaren as well as researched historical records for years. He used precisely this manifestation to reach the core of the Three Realms where Dao Laws are contained. Even the Heavenly Dao acknowledged it as the only way he could've made it listen.

"The audacity," Haotian muttered. He sighed at the familiar scene. In his eyes, Liu Er'a silhouette was overlapping with Hu Jiaren. "Humble? Oh please.

"I suppose you are smart enough to know how to live?" Haotian asked dispassionately.

"The ambitious bell boy is…is…is stupid!" Hu Jiaren's unstable jaw flapped wildly as he half yelled in agreement. "I would've schemed benefit and cultivate immortal life. No more weak. I aren't not an humble good guy staying ant. Abandoned useless twenty first century. My heart for Dao is not strong to reach g**"

"Yeah and you know how the world really works hm?" Haotian approached Hu Jiaren leisurely, giving the the former system user an ominous feeling in the part of him that remained normal.

"I'm living life wrong, I'm ruining myself, I should be like you. You know how things really are because you're smart. You are efficient, you are not magnanimous because you know reality," Haotian sang along with Hu Jiaren's tune. "Liu Er knows best. Hahaha"

"Honestly," Haotian suddenly unloaded his pressure, dropping Hu Jiaren to his knees. The boy hadn't even surpassed Liu Er, what hope did he have of fighting Haotian?

"You. Underestimate. My. Arrogance." Bit by bit, Haotian ushered heavier pressure with each word.

"Is it smart to keep to myself? Yeah sure. Is it easier to profit off of everyone killing each other? Probably. Is it safer to hide everything from everyone? Maybe. That's certainly how you see it. That's probably how the 'real world' works."

Haotian paced around Hu Jiaren suddenly appearing furious. A single kick to his back sent him flying underneath a wall of scales. The Heavenly Dao made an odd noise, but didn't move to help Hu Jiaren.

"And why on all the forces of heaven and earth should I live by that?" Haotian asked with venom. "Why must I be the one to bow to how the 'real world' works? Why should I abandon my beliefs to thrive in the 'real world?' Give me a fucking break."

Haotian narrowed a hateful look at Hu Jiaren, and by extension Liu Er'a Dao. Further in, he glared at the collective Dao's that made up innumerable laws of the Three Realms.

"You break," he told them. "Bend yourselves to my beliefs first. Everyone should live by how I think they should. I think I'm a pretty understanding compromising guy.."

He stopped to chuckle to himself at the situation. He and Liu Er turned out to be exactly the same. But that was the case for all powerful men. Everyone was unwilling to operate outside of their own world.

"Why must I be the one to conform? I certainly know better. No, you should all be the ones to conform to me."

In his pocket, the book Hongjun imparted to him sat in stillness. Its importance caused the innate god to look back at the physical form of the Heavenly Dao in resoluteness.

Haotian instinctively knew the Heavenly Dao didn't truly care anything about morales or a code of conduct for immortal cultivators. What it did care for was stability and advancement. It wanted strong beings to rise, and for them to bluster it in return. That was why it didn't mind the conflicts between factions. Even in the Devilish Dao's case, Luohu's desire was the only thing it abhorred. Why else would it actively let the lineage to exist?

But Haotian made his own intentions known. What he wanted above all else was control. He wanted everything to conform to his control. Only then can he mitigate tragedies.

He had no intention of removing cultivation nor eradicating immortal lifeforms. He had no intention of removing wars or any form of fighting.

A bottom line, a set of laws, a government to oversee the universe. Haotian retrieved the book of heaven, what mythology termed the God Sealing Roll. It was a top grade contain spiritual treasure in its natural form.

Staring at the Heavenly Dao, he kneeled. This was the make or break moment for him.

"Senior brother, what is the meaning of this."
