The Primitive Age, Lament of an Immortal(A mythological xianxia story)

Vast Sky 20: Point of no Return

Haotian released a gasp at Yaochi's cold voice. He cursed in his head, how could she follow him here? She should be disconnected from the Three Realms.

His junior sister appeared as a regal woman in her late thirties wearing a phoenix crown. She wore no warmth for him currently.

"Are you betraying master after everything he's done for you?" She said icily. Her subtle saintly energy was invisible and suffocating at the same time. "Clone of Da Hai as well?"

Haotian was visibly shocked. He lamented his lack of foresight. He'd assumed she'd just remain at Hongjun's side at all times. Yet he thought about it, and theorized that she detected his everything when he opened himself up to the Heavenly Dao. As a saint, she was essentially a portion of heaven as well.

"Master still took you in. He gave you everything. Even now he considers you his heir. And you're telling me you want to get rid of him? Not even for his Dao, you want him gone so you can play housemaster?"

Haotian suddenly found himself in her grip. Her long nailed fingers dug into his throat. He released his cultivation base to little effect.

"If only he didn't prove himself to be a monster," Haotian retorted. He saw no point to lie in front of Yaochi if she already knows everything. "He could've descended into the Three Realms and laid down the law. Instead he remains lofty, even going as far as to tear away Pangu's Dao. This long pointless war between himself and the Three Realms is only doing more harm then good."

"You have a lot of gall."

"Face it Yaochi, that man only cares about himself. He may love me, but only in so far as an extension of himself. He doesn't even comprehend another perspective, would've needed to second guess himself in that case. Otherwise he would've seen through me."

Yaochi grew more and more furious as Haotian spoke. Even when Haotian attempted to free himself by clawing at her arm, she only tightened it.

"You have a lot of gall. Zixiao palace provided everything for you. We loved you, I loved you. And you spat in the face of that?" Yaochi's saintly cultivation was so overwhelming that it caused the entire core of the Three Realms tremble.

The scales body wrapping around the core trembled and a feminine groan echoed throughout. Haotian darted his eyes wildly, before settling on Yaochi.

She was ranting, a good sign as it bought him a few extra seconds. But he had no way of escaping her. Dispersing his body into light didn't work, using any of the elemental escapes wouldn't work, she'd even locked spacetime around him.

He could use Da Hai's Dao fruit and elongate distance. But this was an omnipotent being in front of him with her full attention unlike Hongjun. The moment he does, she'll crush the fruit and annihilate that Dao.

"Haotian you fiend. I will bring you to master myself." She could've pulverized him then and there if she wanted to. But letting Hongjun see how much he'd been deceived would be much more satisfying. Even so, she couldn't stop the pain in her chest.

As a saint, she was deeply connected to heaven. This connection was restored when she stepped foot in the Three Realms again. Then and there, she was also exposed to the scene of Haotian opening everything about himself to the Heavenly Dao. There and then she understood.

Falseness hidden within truth. Haotian may've truly seen her as family, and Hongjun as his master. He was not loyal to Da Hai at all, hated him even. But his hardheaded opinions on the world supersedes everything. What he told Hongjun, he intended the opposite from the start.

From within the core of the Heavenly Dao, purple tribulation lighting condensed into a plasma palm. It reached towards the two, aiming to retrieve Haotian.

"This doesn't concern you," Yaochi spat. The Heavenly Dao wasn't exactly an enemy of hers. Like Hongjun would tell her from time to time, it was a confused dog. She easily repelled the Heavenly Dao and moved to tear her way out of the Three Realms.

'Heavenly Dao couldn't stop her? That's right, most of its attention is keyed on the tug of war with master,' Haotian realized.

The Heavenly Dao grew displeased. Tribulation lighting grew menacingly around it. If it couldn't force things with power, it'll abuse privilege.

"Guh!" Yaochi paused, feeling a misty light hovering around her. Haotian felt her grip loosen and immediately struck her palm and backed away.

Yaochi may be a saint, a portion of the Three Realms. But the Heavenly Dao was the ultimate authority. Her omnipotence within the Chaos World dimmed on the world will's demands.

If Haotian were to use a human example, it'll be like an admin limiting a moderator's privileges.

Therein lay the problems with a Saint of Heaven. Their cultivation is high and their comprehensions are mighty. But they relied on the crutch that was their native Chaos World. Outside of it, they were simply third order celestial beings.

"Get back here!" Yaochi yelled. Her outstretched arm condensed to a giant golden palm.

A grim Haotian met opened his own. Twelve massive white petals blossomed from his palm, bolstering his physique to meet his junior sister.

The explosion rocked them both, but Haotian was affected more. He gasped for breath, quickly using the purifying light of the lotus to nourish his body. 'Even without a saint's omnipotence, she's easily surpassed Zulong.'

"12 Petals White Lotus, how is it with you? Did master bequeath it to you too?" Yaochi uttered in disbelief. That quickly turned into inconsolable rage.

She clasped her palms, her body fading into an enchanting state. Seven starry dots curled around her body before six additional arms emerged out of her. Two additional faces covered the sides of her head. In her grip were her own array of magical treasures.

Below her feet, a fiery chariot pulled by spiritual manifestations of horses. Holding fans, a bow, and a tree branch. Most prominently was a long red spear that she pointed at Haotian.

This was the Starry Miracle Spear, a weapon she had to forge herself, something that bathed in her own essence. With her bow, she shot arrows towards Haotian and lighting from the Heavenly Dao. With her fans, she blew away Haotian's long distance magic.

With her chariot, she closed the distance in a single moment. Then her spear stabbed into the heart of the 12 Petals White Lotus.

Haotian gritted his teeth and loudly announced. "Listen to me, the state is the Three Realms is unacceptable from all angles. Humans, demons, divinities, and immortal sects are on the cusp of another tribulation. Day by day, cultivators with no bottom line pursue their own goals without a second thought. Karma alone cannot stay their hand."

"And?" Yaochi spat back. Haotian had to raise his sword to direct her spear away, then retrieved his mirror to block an incoming punch.

Yaochi roared a sound that resonated with countless Dao Laws. It culminates into a resolute beam of qi that threatened to atomise Haotian.

And from within his body, the Dao fruit cultivated by Da Hai eons ago spun into existence. With its power boost, he pointed the Vast Heaven Sword at the attack and split it in two.

A clone and its creator had a single law. Because the former drew everything from the latter, it could never surpass them. But there wasn't a Da Hai now. Thus there was actually no difference between Haotian and a genuine Limitless Supreme Chaos Immortal. "I only hope to bring order. All I want can only benefit the Three Realms and all life."

"Everything about you is stolen." Yaochi simply. She began calling furiously with Haotian, using all her martial and magical training to one up her senior brother.

To the Heavenly Dao, they resembled a phoenix and a dragon at war with one another. In its own sea of clouds, the Heavenly Dao took a moment to think.

With a peanut gallery featuring Hu Jiaren commenting on how weak he was for not destroying Yaochi in a single hit, Haotian's dance with death was taking a toll.

Dao radiance leaked from him, more so than Yaochi. She was weaker only in the aspect of experience. Because she's rarely if ever partook in a real life/death struggle, her judgement was just a tiny bit slower. But because of her being nourished from years of being a saint, her body was just tougher.

There was a name sects of daoism knew her as. Though the least well known of the six saints, she was publicly recognized as Golden Mother Yaochi of the Chariot. Some sectors of her worship had even bled into his own cult.

"Even without my sainthood, I still have Hongmeng Purple qi. How am I struggling so badly? That eight headed fiend's power is…strong." Yaochi had to begrudgingly admit. Haotian was commanding it like second nature, wholly unlike scenarios of a person wearing someone else's cultivation.

Each time the Vast Heaven Sword and Starry Miracle Spear met, sparks were generated that would've incinerated realms within the trichiliocosm. Each misstep would plunge chaos into the myriad laws of the world. "Please stop fighting me," Haotian said to her.

His treasures were of higher rank than most of hers. In conjunction to his Dao, he cut her across her shoulder doing minimal damage. Yet he succeeded in flinching her, causing her to back away in panic. He was simply a better fighter.

"My lady empress, surely you know the state of the world. You know the trajectory Xuanyuan is headed in can only end in tragedy no matter who wins. Join my court." He said again as he tussled in another round with Yaochi. They had been fighting for more than five hundred rounds now. "Even the curse that plagues humanity. I will request my lord Heavenly Dao to suppress it. In my control, there would be no need for the macaque's Dao to show discord for the sake of advancement."

"No matter what you say," Yaochi said. "I will arrest you back to Zixiao palace." Each blow from her shook Haotian's arm. Each time, he was caught by his lotus flower allowing him to bounce back.

"I don't care, I will die for my cause if I have to," Haotian said sadly. He gazed towards the Heavenly Dao, then to the mass of scales wrapping around the core of the Three Realms. "And I wasn't talking to you."

"What?" Yaochi demanded.

"Heavenly Dao knows all my hopes and all my dreams. You…agree right?" Haotian said instead, ignoring Yaochi in the midst of their blades clashing. In his sash, Haotian felt the Book of Heaven grow hot.

In the next one instant, the sound of mighty chains snapping was heard. A feminine grown was released above Hu Jiaren causing him to glance up. There, he saw a single bloodshot eye.

Before he could even speak, his body was smashed by a single strand of black hair. Heavenly Dao did nothing, only sending the equivalent of a nod to the serpentine creature who bore a woman's face.

"I hear and obey," Nuwa said. The first words after numerous years.

Without her sainthood, Yaochi felt tremendous pressure. Haotian closed his eyes muttering an apology, then he lowered his sword. Yaochi screamed, reaching for him desperately. In her mind, she thought back to their history. Till date, she'd never understood him.

Then, she was captured in five rocky bands made of fire, water, wood, earth, and metal. Nuwa had already abandoned her true form, assuming the guise of a tried messy woman with unkept hair. Bruises marked her skin, most prominent of all was a red mark across her stomach. Her lone eye stared into Haotian's own with a question.

"I'll look after humanity, but I won't favour one race over another," Haotian said beneath the gaze of the Heavenly Dao. "But that's a view you also have despite being their mother."

"What a sly snake you are," Nuwa said tiredly. "I'll support your court so long as you hold to your promise. Your majesty."

Yaochi stared in defeat and disbelief. She made a mad chuckle at the odds turning against her. In the end, Haotian got his way again.

"I'm sorry for hurting you," Haotian said. He retrieved the celestial book and opened its blank pages. It was a top grade xaintian spiritual treasure in quality. In myth, it was known as the God Sealing Roll, an artefact that enshrined the gods.

But it was only a xiantian spiritual treasure, not powerful enough to enshrine a specific woman. Sensing Haotian's wishes, the Heavenly Dao decided to comply. After all, losing a saint would be rough, but letting her go was idiotic.

"Junior sister, I…"

"So self centred," Yaochi interrupted him with a low chuckle. "I finally understand you now. It's like you said, the world should conform to how you want it."

"I'm sorry," Haotian said genuinely. But it would not stop him as he wrote in the book with support from the Heavenly Dao. "I'll tell master that you agreed to support me as a god in heaven. I won't force you to do anything else."

She snorted but said nothing else as a heavenly stream of godly essence wrapped around her.

"Lady empress," Haotian said to Nuwa using her formal title. "Will you accompany me to the Heavenly realm? I don't have much time to waste."

Nuwa tried to find the Heavenly Dao, but it had already restrained itself to focus on Hongjun. Evidently, it had decided to place everything on Haotian's shoulders. She nodded in acceptance as a result.

Together, they departed from the core of the Three Realms.
