-Minex-
I looked through the test results of all of the applicants as they came in. Their Stats had to be above a certain margin for them to be allowed onto the real test. Not because the Adventurer's Guild cared about the safety of the applicants or anything, but because they didn't want to have to deal with lawsuits and such unsavory things that might come about if the applicants died.
Only in Human-centric countries though. Ugrayen doesn't have such policies, their Demonic culture is much more survival of the fittest. Maybe we could learn a little from them in that aspect; though I know that's an unpopular opinion.
Living in the South-East end of Tallen, far away from Ugrayen, led to the hostilities between countries becoming quite muted compared to those on the North-Western border with Ugrayen, but government propaganda kept most of the population on edge when it came to Demons.
I shook my head. I had run into that kid Lucky while walking through the halls, and he had been very talkative mentioning that he had some Demon Ancestry, which was probably why my thoughts had strayed in that direction. I had only volunteered to be the test administrator because 'Experience Silver' was taking the test, and since I had a vested interest in him passing I needed to be able to fudge some numbers if need be.
However, looking through the test results, where I had thought I might need to raise Silver's scores, now I wasn't sure I would have to change them at all.
Experience Silver: Age 20
Physical: 22
Meta-Physical: 146
Mana-Cells: 1500
Mana-Nebula: 22
Magical Effects: 1200
Mind/Magic: 1000
- Pass/Fail?
Holy, I thought his scores would be strange, but not this strange. What is he, a High Elf?
I shook my head. Yeah right, he looks nothing like a High Elf. If anything his scores are even weirder than a High Elf's. His Magical Effects are way too high, and his Mana-Nebula is way too low for a High Elf. I've heard about a race with high Mana-Cells and Magical Effects before, but his Mind/Magic scores don't fit.
Whatever, it's not like his race really matters anyways. What really matters is the fact that it doesn't look like he held back at all. I'll have to ask him if he wants me to change anything before I approve him.
I continued to cycle through the test results of the applicants, passing some and failing others, when I came across the results of the one I had met earlier.
I found Lucky's results and checked the details out of interest.
Lucky: Age 16
Physical: 390
Meta-Physical: 450
Mana-Cells: 100
Unauthorized reproduction: this story has been taken without approval. Report sightings.
Mana-Nebula: 100
Magical Effects: 150
Mind/Magic: 100
Fairly standard for the most part. Though his Meta-Physical Stat is higher than average, maybe he has some talent in that area? But his other Stats aren't quite high enough for me to pass him. Hmm… I could use my authority to pass him, but I'll have to make sure he's capable of taking care of himself during the test. Maybe I'll call him back with Silver to ask him a few questions.
I nodded in satisfaction and continued to look over the scores of the failed applicants. However none of the others that had failed caught my eye in any way. So I concluded that only Lucky was worth calling back.
I'll have to talk to Lucky to make sure he knows the position he's in. I should tell him to get into a team that can make sure his strong points shine so that his lacking Stats won't hold him back.

I walked through the corridors with Lucky's nervous arm movements distracting me from the silence. I wanted to ask Minex why he had called me, and if there was anything wrong with my test scores, but with Lucky around I didn't want to seem too familiar with the guy.
Minex calling someone back wasn't mentioned in the future message, but at this point I think that's pretty much expected. The future message seems mostly focused on major events, and considering the fact that the me's that sent back the message were all facing the prospect of being locked up once again, it doesn't surprise me that they would have a strong bias towards certain types of information.
The future message is still extremely valuable, but I shouldn't get too focused on it.
Minex led us through a door and into a simple storage room that looked like it held all sorts of different cleaning equipment and other tools. He sat down at a table with multiple chairs around it, looking like it was more of a table where co-workers sat around and played card games than a table meant for whatever Minex had called us here for.
Minex said, "Hey. It's nothing huge, but I needed to talk to you myself to make sure you're not getting into things out of your depth without any context.
"For starters, Lucky you're stats are just barely below what they should be for me to pass you. I could fudge the scores a bit, but I wanted to make sure you're ok with this plan, or if you feel that you want to come back later and try again."
"As for Experience Silver, your Stats are a bit too exceptional. I had assumed that you had some way of holding back, so I wasn't too worried. However your scores are very high and very abnormally low at the same time. I wanted to get your opinion on whether you would like me to fudge your scores a bit, or if you don't mind standing out like this."
I said, "Well I think that the people who are looking for me won't be able to find me even if I stand out. Not to sound too pathetic, but nobody would recognize me even if my face were all over the place. I was pretty much a loner before I came here, so as long as my real name isn't being thrown around, then I'm pretty sure I'll be just fine."
Lucky spoke up, "I'm flattered that you would be willing to help me out like that. But I wouldn't want to get myself into something I'm not capable of confronting. So if you say that I'm not ready then I'll back off. However I am fairly confident in my abilities, and I think that I'm ready to begin my journey as an Adventurer."
Minex nodded, "Well, in that case I'm going to have you two stick together during the Dungeon test. Silver's Physical scores were pretty low, but his other scores were all great. Lucky on the other hand is the complete opposite, so I think that you'll both get along well in the test."
Hmm, going through the test with Lucky will definitely help me cover up my injured wrists. Physical combat would be tricky if I had to do it with my current disabilities. With Lucky there I won't have to be as worried about physical combat if he can take care of it.
I said, "I think that'll be fine. As long as Lucky can keep up."
Lucky, "Oh don't worry! I won't keep you down."
Minex, "Well alright, if that's all you have to say then it's all good to go. Just walk down this hallway to the left, take your first right and then continue on until you reach the end of the hallway. Enter the big doors at the end of the hall and go inside to get yourself geared up. It's just standard gear in case you don't have your own, so if you have your own gear you can just skip it. The others that have passed should be in there still, so you can follow them after you're done gearing up."
Lucky, "Thank you Mr. Minex. I won't forget your help today."
Minex waved him off, "Oh, don't worry about it. Just try to do your best in the Dungeon test, it'll be your own fault if you fail."
We both walked out of the storage room and headed towards where Minex had told us to go to.
