Star Hawk Rises

CHAPTER 80: BREACHING THE FRIGATE!

I was sitting in the chair that was hidden in a small circular room down a long staircase behind the hidden panel in the weapons room that now looked amazing after it had been put back together. All the cameras were back in working order, and with all the cameras active now, I was able to see what Clara for some reason had done with the new licences that were currently on my licence ring. She had installed two spitfire launch tubes on each side of the ship just behind the new upgraded version of the internal dry dock, taking up even more of my precious cargo space. She had then stored four spitfires in them. The hangar had two drop-ships and Clara had somehow managed to squeeze a skiff in there too. My attention shifted to the eco habitat and I could see the vegetables growing on the right side of the room, fruit were in the middle and against the right side wall was a line of herbs.

"It's beautiful," I mumbled as I smiled at the sight.

As my attention moved to the housing habitat and saw the ruins everywhere, I let out a sigh, "still a lot of work to do," I mumbled before turning my attention to outside the ship. I could feel the docking clamps on my hull, but the ship felt younger, lighter, and a little more powerful. I was ready for departure and was eager to find out just how powerful the ship was. I quickly glanced through the cameras again as I got ready to request departure permission. I noticed Clara was playing around with something in the internal dry dock, perhaps designing some new blueprint to improve something. When my father found out Devon was applying to be the head of security aboard my frigate, he had done a seriously deep and thorough background search on Devon. After that, he had then assigned four squads of former Scottish military personnel to the security department of my frigate. Devon was currently sitting in the control chair in the middle of the weapons room with four other men from his security department. However, the chair was facing the door as a rifle rested across his lap.

"I guess he is taking head of security very seriously." I said as I gave the engine a mental kick.

The ship came to life as power flooded through its systems turning everything on, I began to wonder how the camera and sensors had power when the engine was off. The moment I had that thought, I felt something poking at my conscious like it wanted to show me the answer. I let it, following the feeling into the engineering department to a huge rack against a wall with six foot cubes sitting in the racks, I had no idea what they were but the mental label for them that I got was simply 'Battery' after staring at it for a while and trying to figure out how it worked I had come to the understanding that it was far more advanced than anything earth even remotely had, and I wasn't about to figure it out. So I gave up trying and turned my attention back to the forward cameras and the radio.

"Blossoming Terranova Dry Docks this is the Lost Hawk, requesting departure permission, do you copy?"

"We copy you Lost Hawk, departure permission has been denied, the Lost Hawk Frigate has been impounded by the Blossoming Terranova Police under suspicions of illegal contraband being kept inside the ship, over"

My mind instantly jumped to the booze hidden inside the captain's secret room, but I quickly discarded that because alcohol wasn't illegal. The research into the particular alcohol we had in there had led me to understand it was very rare and highly sought after. There had even been a celestial that had traded an entire solar system for one bottle of it. With that in mind, I had decided that I was never going to tell anyone how much of it I had, let alone that I had its recipe. However, that didn't make it illegal, so I could only come to the conclusion I was being detained for some sort of fishing expedition.

"Authority, Blossoming Terranova Guild Mistress, Query, who exactly has impounded the Lost Hawk Frigate and what suspicions do they believe they legally have to impound this ship?"

I was slightly shocked when it was Blossom's voice that answered me instead of the dry docks control tower.

"The Lost Hawk Frigate, has been impounded by Sergeant George Foundling. The reason given was suspicion of illegal contraband stored in a smuggler ship by the previous owner, the requested solution was time, to search the ship and recover any and all illegal contraband so it can be turned over to the proper Galactic Authorities."

I was about to open my mouth to retort when a sensor on the outside of the ship picked up the sound of what it registered as a 9mm hand gun being fired. I turned my attention to the rear and a few side cameras to see a bunch of men running across the deck towards a ladder truck from two vehicles with flashing red and blue lights. Two of the men had stopped and one was yelling at the other. My laser array and shields must not have considered the bullet a threat because neither attempted to stop it from pinging off the hull. Had I not known it was about to, I seriously doubted I would have even noticed it doing so.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

"Lost Hawk to Blossoming Terranova Dry Docks, I am now under fire, a group of men is attempting to gain access to my ship that is currently prepared for departure. I repeat, I am under attack, I request immediate departure for the protection of my ship and crew."

"Blossoming Terranova Dry Docks to Lost Hawk, request for immediate departure has been denied, the Lost Hawk Frigate is impounded, I recommend you shut down the engine and unlock the ship and prepare for arrest, criminal scum!"

My attention instantly snapped to the radio as I said, "what?" I quickly switched the channel to Blossoming Terranova Command Room. Deciding to find out what the hell was going on from one of my siblings or my father if he was there.

"Lost Hawk to Blossoming Terranova Command do your copy?"

I glanced at the cameras again, watching the truck park next to my frigate as I waited for someone to respond to my hail. They had made it up the ramp and had been pounding on the airlock, and a few of them had descended back down to get cutting tools of some kind before someone responded to my hail.

"Joseph in the Blossoming Terranova Command to Lost hawk, what's up Kenna? Did you forget something already?"

"Ha, ha, very funny Joseph, my ship's been impounded by cops who are now pounding on the airlock demanding I surrender myself and be arrested. The Blossoming Terranova dry docks radio control person ordered me to unlock the ship and prepare myself for arrest, then he called me criminal scum. Oh, shit, they just started cutting the airlock with something, sensors are indicating it's working, they are breaching!"

"What!" he screamed back before going silent, the assholes, who I assumed were cops, outside were halfway through cutting open the door when I mentally clicked ship wide broadcast and screamed.

"BREACH! BREACH! Unidentified personal have breached the airlock all security personal man your battle stations! All non-essential personal to your quarters!"

"Kenna!" Joseph shouted over my radio before taking a calming breath and talking normally. "I have spoken with Chief Biko, he says a squad of his men have gone rogue and have seized control of the Blossoming Terranova Dry Docks control room he has some of his men attempting to break and retake control, but It's going to be a while. Kenna… he said you are the captain of a Frigate ship, that automatically gives you the Galactic Federation authority to defend yourself and your ship with deadly force if necessary."

I glanced at the airlock as it fell in, and the men rushed into the ship. I turned my attention back to the radio and almost whispered "they're in" before remembering the ship had internal security defences. I kicked myself for forgetting about them. I went to activate them, only to find out they were on the too expensive to fix list and only a couple actually managed to activate. However, they were uselessly down in the cargo hold.

"Kenna, tell your people to seal themselves in, I'm attempting to rapidly decompress dry dock 3."

I quickly switched to ship wide speakers again and was about to announce what Joseph said when I stopped, realising the cops would be able to hear me as well. However, before I could think of a way to tell my people without the cops catching on, I heard gunfire and quickly shifted through the cameras until I found the squad of cops opening firing into a corridor. This had a few of my security officers firing back.

"Shit, shit, SHIT! All hands brace for impact!" I screamed into the ship wide broadcast, watching the two security officers dive into a room and the last one in kicked the door closed. The cops pulled back as they covered their ears for a few seconds until I stopped screaming. Doors around my ship were being quickly closed, and I helped by closing the emergency doors, except for the ones between the cops and the airlock. I then coughed and spoke in a more calm tone as I addressed the cops that had rudely breached my ship.

"Attention Pirates, you have illegally boarded a privately owned frigate class battleship, you have opened fire upon the security officers of this ship, under Galactic Federation Law, I am with in my rights and have the authority to defend myself and my ship with deadly force, please exit the ship and surrender yourself to station security or-" I was suddenly cut what I was about to say when one of them ran forwards and placed something on the wall next to the emergency door I had closed between them and the security officers. They had dived to safety. The next moment an explosion went off, and I felt slight pain as the wall was breached by explosive. They then quickly hurried through the door and the last one turned and placed a metal plate against the breach and began to weld it on. A moment later, another man joined him on the other side of the plate to speed up the welding.

"Damn, these assholes are resourceful," I groaned in annoyance.

"Blossoming Terranova Dry Docks to Lost Hawk, come in Lost Hawk, we have retaken the control tower!"

I looked at the cops walking through the housing habitat as they searched it, luckily no one was in there with them, and they were vacuum sealed in, so I turned my attention to the radio.

"Lost Hawk to Blossoming Terranova Dry Docks, I read you, over"

"Roger, Lost Hawk, dry dock 3 has been decompressed. We can't get men in there to help, the man that we have apprehended here was screaming he was apprehending a criminal under American jurisdiction, and we had no right to interfere. I told the idiot this was Galactic Federation jurisdiction and his stupid country's laws didn't mean shit here. So he is arrested and will be sent to the Orbital Station's prison. Over."

"I have an idea to deal with the pirates on my ship… Blossoming Terranova Dry Docks, this is Lost Hawk, requesting permission for departure."

"Lost Hawk, Blossoming Terranova Dry Docks, permission granted, happy hunting Lost Hawk! Control Tower, over and out!"

I grinned as the clamps started releasing from the hull of my ship and moving away. I turned my attention to the housing habitat watching the cops searching, a few of them had stopped and were just following along behind the rest, rightly assuming they weren't going to find anything. I activated the ship wide broadcast and then localised it to that room only and made an announcement to the cops.

"Can all passengers please fasten their seatbelts make sure all tray tables are in their upright and locked position, then stick there heads between there legs and kiss there asses goodbye! Because you are now aboard flight Lost Hawk where the pilot is a combat pilot, and loves to dance, oh by the way, I disengaged the gravity, good luck."
