The girls survived falling down a waterfall that Sophia had conveniently forgotten telling them about after she got teased a bit too much for her liking, and everyone continued traveling towards the ocean. However, as it was nothing but bare plains for hundreds of kilometers, they decided to use Sophia's portal stone skip to cut down on the distance left.
"Oh, I can smell the salty air from the ocean!" The girls had spent most of the afternoon skipping hundreds of kilometers with the blonde's portals when Steph immediately got excited when they stepped out of the most recent one. They arrived in the middle of a lush green meadow where the dog-girl began to energetically sniff around.
"Really?" Sophia copied her sister and also sniffed around. "The wind seems to be a little stronger around here, and it's kinda fresh, but… not sure about the salty part."
"Same." The other cats couldn't smell it, either.
"It might just be my imagination, but there might be a hint of added saltiness." Chloe focused a little harder on sniffing the air and seemed to make out some more details.
"Well, you cats may have good eyes, but your noses are quite lacking!" Steph pointed at her own while also proudly puffing out her chest. "My dearest Chloe, member of the best animal family, the canine one, is at least somewhat able to make it out, but the dog-girl nose continues to reign supreme! In fact, the dog-girl as a whole is supreme!"
"I love how humble you are." Ari could only roll her eyes.
"I'm the personification of humbleness!" She puffed out her chest even more. As far as it was possible for her, at least.
"Sure you are." Everyone had the same reaction.
"Yep!" She wasn't going to give in to their obvious sarcasm.
"It would be nice if it's true, though." Sophia smiled at her sister. "The smelling salt part, not the obvious lie."
"Hey!"
"If there's no other source for the salty smell, it means we should be close to the ocean!"
"Let's go!" Steph had already gotten over the outrageous accusation and energetically raised her arm high in the air.
----------------
"Ohh!" Sophia threw one more portal stone, and once the girls arrived on the other side, the dog-girl's nose was immediately proven correct.
"I told you the dog-nose is supreme!" With a big grin on her face as they were standing on a slightly elevated plain, Steph pointed at the never-ending ocean in front of them that spanned over the entire horizon.
"Sure is." The others had to agree with her.
"It looks amazing!" The girl with the amazing nose clapped her hands. "I didn't expect to cover the entire horizon from the get-go. It's like a harsh drop from land to nothing but water. Normally, you'd have more curves and whatnot."
"There's no beach, either. Very disappointing." Sophia noticed the immediate change from land to water, as well. "Actually, it seems like the water line is a bit lower. Are we on a cliff?" As the terrain change was perfectly straight, something she didn't appreciate overly much, the blonde didn't notice at first that they were a good bit above the ocean and how they were separated from it by a sharp cliff spanning across the edge of the continent.
"Yes, a lot of the continent in this area has been formed by erosion, causing the cliff to be a huge part of the landscape here." Ari nodded a few times.

"There's also a certain lack of port city from what I can tell." Maya took a better look at their surroundings and noticed a certain lack of civilization before glancing at Anna. "Wasn't your brother supposed to travel somewhere from the trade city we left off at?"
"That's what we've heard, yeah." The princess nodded. "Well, I suppose Nathan took a road and didn't follow a random river, fell down a waterfall, and used magic to skip hundreds of kilometers to arrive somewhere near the ocean."
"Fair point." The cat-girl hadn't thought about that. "Right, a city on a cliff would be a little weird, as well."
"That is true." Ari agreed with her. "From what I can tell, the cliff seems to be going down over there, too." She then pointed to her right before glancing at Sophia. "That's west, by the way."
"That's where we planned to head to, right?" The blonde was just happy about the help.
"Exactly." The jaguar nodded. "I'd assume the place the prince and his group were headed was a port city, so it should be on the same level as the ocean."
"Let's go!" The dog-girl energetically pointed in the same direction as the jaguar. "Let's go!"
"Let's go!" Chloe, Anna, and Ari were just as motivated.
"Ah, wait, let me get Kel first!" Sophia suddenly clapped her hands. "He wanted a ton of things from the ocean to decorate his own in my domain. I'll just drop him in here and let him roam around with a portal to collect everything he wants. Later, when he's done, he can just return through it himself after making it bigger with some magic power."
"Do you really think you can let such a massive dragon just roam around like it's nothing? Not sure the ecosystem would take it so well." Ari had some doubts about her plan.
"Well, he is an aquatic dragon, and he told me that he came from this ocean, so I'm fairly sure it should be fine?"
"Fairly sure is always such a reassuring statement." The jaguar rolled her eyes.
"He's a bit of a wildcard, so it's always a bit hard to tell." She shrugged in return. "Anyway, I'm going to get him!" The tiger decided to ignore her concerns and opened one of her portals to go fetch their newest and biggest friend.
"Sure."
----------------
"Kelkel~!" The blonde went to the dragon's ocean inside her domain and simply appeared right next to him on a little platform she created on the water.
"I still don't appreciate you constantly appearing out of nowhere." Noticing her, he lazily turned his massive head in her direction. "What can I do for you?"
"The ocean you're making here is amazing!" Sophia first had to look around a little more before getting to the main point. "I can't even see how far it goes anymore!"
"I've been creating water nonstop ever since starting, so that's to be expected." He sounded rather proud of himself. "I don't think I've ever used this much magic for that long of a time, as well."
"You easily get lost in playing around in here~." The blonde nodded a few times while smiling at him. "I also think your authority feels the tiniest amount stronger already, too. You're definitely the most diligent around here."
"That would be most amazing if true." Kel paused for a moment. "It's hard to tell for yourself when it's only a little, though."
"Yeah, all of us had the same issue with that." Speaking from experience, she could see where he was coming from. "It took us a while to notice, too."
"Your domain is amazing." He was in awe of its capabilities.
"Ehehe~."
"So, what's the topic of the visit?" The dragon returned to the topic at hand. "Did you want to see how it's going?"
"That, too." She only shrugged, though. "As you may know, the girls and I returned to the regular world to do some traveling and exploring."
"I've heard, yes."
"We've just reached the ocean, and I was wondering if you wanted to take a look." Sophia lightly tilted her head. "You wanted to get a lot of stuff and plants to make your ocean here look more like a real one, right?"
"How have you already arrived at the ocean in half a day?" He sounded confused. "It's almost a 1000 kilometers away from the oasis lake, and the trade hub wasn't much closer, either."
"My portals sure are handy~." She just gave him a thumbs-up.
"You can create them wherever in the regular world, as well?!" Kel raised his voice.
"No, but I can enchant a stone with my portal magic and chuck it hundreds of kilometers through the air with the help of magic." Sophia let out a small chuckle. "Afterward, I just open the portal wherever the stone landed, and we can skip a whole lot of boring plains."
"That definitely is very handy." He lightly nodded. "And yes, I'd love to collect all sorts of things from the ocean to enrich this one."
"Perfect!" She lightly clapped her hands and opened a massive portal for him to fit through.
"That leads to the ocean?" He looked at it for a moment.
"Yup!" She nodded. "Let's go!"
Doing as told, the massive dragon slowly moved through the portal to arrive at the ocean with Sophia following after him. There, his enormous body plopped into the sea with a gigantic thud, creating an even bigger wave and splash in the process.
