Seven Beautiful Goddesses Want Me, But I Just Want My Revenge

Chapter 317: Rebuilding Zarpha...

The following days were a blur of activity as Zarpha began to heal. Rubble was cleared from the streets, survivors were accounted for, and the fires that had ravaged parts of the city were finally extinguished.

The people worked tirelessly, showing theor strength despite the devastation around them.

Adrian was at the forefront of the efforts, his fiery chains proving invaluable in lifting heavy debris and clearing blocked paths.

Alongside him, the seven goddesses lent their divine strength, each contributing in their own unique way.

Hestia's blue flames burned steadily, welding shattered iron beams back together to stabilize buildings. Hera, riding atop Solis, used the griffin's mighty wings to lift collapsed roofs back into place.

Ava, with her golden shields and earth magic, created protective barriers for workers and reinforced weakened walls.

Lilith helped to clear debris, while Medea's black flames burned away rubble too damaged to salvage.

Abyss summoned her phantoms, spectral workers who carried tools and materials to aid the laborers. Eris, ever mischievous, used her discord powers to subtly energize the exhausted workers, spurring them to push forward despite their weariness.

Adrian moved among them, coordinating efforts and offering words of encouragement. His presence alone seemed to inspire the people of Zarpha, reminding them that they were not alone in their struggle.

**************

Late one evening, as the sky darkened into deep indigo and the first stars began to appear, Adrian stood on the balcony of the palace.

Below him, the city hummed. Workers moved with lanterns in hand, their silhouettes framed against the glow of campfires scattered throughout the ruins.

Alannah walked toward him, her steps gentle yet determined. She had shed the work clothes she had on earlier, now wearing a simple dress that swayed gently in the breeze.

Her face showed signs of tiredness, but her eyes shone with resolve.

"You've done so much for them," she said, her voice breaking the tranquil silence. "They'll never forget it."

Adrian turned to her, the fire in his eyes dimming as he leaned on the stone railing. "It's the least I could do," he replied in a somber tone. "But this isn't where my story ends, Alannah."

Her brow furrowed slightly. "What do you mean?"

Adrian exhaled, looking back at the city. "I've been running for a long time. From my past. From my responsibilities. But it's time I stopped. I need to go back. To Meridia."

"Meridia…" she echoed. "You plan to rebuild?"

"Yes," Adrian said firmly. "My people deserve a chance to rise again. To rebuild their lives, their futures. I owe it to them—and to Elena."

Alannah nodded, understanding in her eyes. "And what of Zarpha? What happens to us?"

Adrian turned to her, his gaze steady. "I'll stay involved, Alannah. Zarpha is as much my responsibility as Meridia. I won't abandon you."

Her lips parted slightly, and for a moment, she looked as though she wanted to say more. But instead, she stepped closer, her voice softer now. "You've done so much already. I'm not sure how we'll manage without you."

"You'll manage," Adrian said, a faint smile tugging at his lips. "You're stronger than you think. And I'll be here for you, even from afar."

The silence stretched between them, the sounds of the city below fading into the background. Alannah's gaze lingered on Adrian's face with an unreadable expression.

Their tension was obvious, a silent bond that had deepened with each fight and every challenge they faced together.

"Adrian…" she began, her voice hesitant. "Why do you always put others before yourself? Even when it hurts you."

Adrian looked at her, his fiery eyes softening. "Because I've seen what happens when I don't. I've made mistakes, Alannah. Mistakes that cost me everything. I can't let that happen again."

Her hand brushed against his, a touch so light it might have been accidental. "You're too hard on yourself," she said quietly. "You deserve happiness too."

For a moment, neither of them moved.

Then, as if drawn by an invisible force, Adrian reached out, his fingers brushing against her cheek. She didn't pull away. Instead, she leaned into his touch, her eyes closing briefly.

"I don't know if I deserve it," Adrian admitted with a low voice. "But I know I don't want to lose you."

Alannah's eyes opened, meeting his gaze with a mix of vulnerability and resolve. "Then don't," she whispered.

The distance between them disappeared as Adrian leaned in, his lips capturing hers in a kiss that was both fierce and tender. Alannah responded without hesitation, her hands gripping his tunic as if anchoring herself to him.

The kiss grew more intense, a result of the tension that had been building between them for a long time. It was a moment of raw honesty, of shared longing and unspoken promises.

When they finally pulled apart, their breaths were ragged, their foreheads pressed together.

"We should…" Adrian began, his voice trailing off as he tried to gather his thoughts.

Alannah's lips curved into a faint smile. "Yes," she said softly, taking his hand and leading him inside.

As they walked down the dim hallway, their silhouettes framed against the starlight shining through the open windows, Adrian could only think of the uncertain future that awaited them.

He wasn't sure what tomorrow would bring, but he knew that whatever happened, they would face it together.

They soon got to Alannah's chambers, the two guards standing outside nodding and opening the door.

As the two walked inside, Alannah turned to the guards. "You're dismissed for the night."

They nodded and went on their way, leaving the two alone.

The moment the doors closed, Adrian pulled Alannah close, kissing her deeply.

"Adrian..." she whispered.

"Hmm?"

"Just... don't stop."

Adrian kissed her again, this time more urgently. He wrapped an arm around her waist and pulled her closer. Alannah, in turn, wrapped her arm around his back and pressed her body even harder against his as their kiss intensified.

Without breaking the kiss, Adrian started taking few steps towards her, forcing her to take backward steps towards the wall.

As he moved, he reached down with one of his hands to cup and have a feel of her ass. He squeezed them, feeling the softness of them on his fingers until they finally reached the wall, only for him to press her back against it.

"Mmmm…"
