The air was chilly, the atmosphere pervaded with occasional blizzards and snow fall.
Kailen stood before the dying society presidents.
His eyes were calm — a reflection of his state of mind.
Kailen didn't care about what others thought of his display.
He had one principle.
Anyone that stood in his way, would die.
An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.
It was simply the inevitable outcome of those that crossed him.
No matter how long it would take, he'd have his revenge.
Calmly, he observed them, as their lives were slowly fading out.
Due to emotional resonance he could read their emotional states like open books.
Fear, regret, helplessness, despair, in their final moments.
Xyra even probably wanted to apologize to his brother. He was sure of it.
How would Esimo feel on hearing that?
Regretful?
Not really. Esimo was not stupid and soft.
If it had to take death to make her realize how much she had hurt him, then she deserved death.
But he had the right to know her state of mind in her final moments.
At least, he'd pass the message to Esimo, as a friend.
The presidents finally, silently, realised they were falling into death's embrace.
Their vision blanketed, and that was it.
The five society presidents, who had banded against Kailen Darkhaven in the society wars, had died in a manner no one would have imagined when the society wars begun.
"That's my Kai." Arrie watched with pride.
Eyes glued to the holographic screen.
He stood untouchable, calm, dark enigmatic eyes hovering over the dead bodies of the society presidents as if they could peer through everything.
No one would forget this moment.
A snowflake fell on his face, his dark hair billowing in the cold wind for a moment that seemed like time itself had paused.
From the moment she had met Kailen after her breakthrough to the ascendant level, he had become more mesmerizing. Also, at the same time, he had this mysterious aura about him, and his eyes had become more enigmatic.
If at first he looked cold and distant at a glance.
Now he looked mysterious, refined, and unapproachable, and well, that made him more attractive by the minute.
Also, she knew Kailen was growing strong because he was putting in the effort, however she also wondered what sort of existence was backing Kailen to make him so terrifyingly monstrous with everything he did — because only a fool would not realize that no matter how much of a genius Kailen was, his level of results was sponsored by a terrifying and mysterious backing.
Never mind, he said he would tell her when the time was right, and she promised she would be patient.
After all the mysterious backing probably didn't want Kailen to tell her about them yet.
Honestly, she was not really bothered about him keeping that a secret right now if he didn't have a choice.
She was simply curious.
Arrie mused to herself.
"Most importantly, is he okay?"
"He's fine. Kailen is not a hero. But he has a clear head with whatever he does. Don't worry about things like him feeling the weight of killing them and whatnot. They crossed him, so they die."
On realizing she had mused the last part out loud, Arrie nodded to Charles' words.
He was right.
As a matter of fact, everyone in the room agreed with him.
Kailen was the type who wouldn't feel burdened about killing someone who, to him, deserved to die.
There was however one emotion they all had at the moment.
They were proud of Kailen for his domineering display, for proving his might in the society wars, and were also reminded of the fact that the warm fellow they knew and cracked jokes with was also a cold, and ruthless individual when messed with.
At this moment, they felt extremely fortunate and good with themselves that they had never decided to make him their enemy.
Most importantly, everyone turned to look at Arrie with different emotions.
"What's wrong with y'all. Do I have something on my face?" She asked in her usual bubbly voice.
"It's because of you," Reynolds said sincerely.
"What does that even mean?" Arrie asked for clarification, confused.
"He's come this far because of you.We all know that Kailen would be a merciless predator, broken and distrustful , full of hatred , without principles, akin to some robot, if he never met you. And that, would have been bad news."
Arrie didn't know what to tell them.
She simply smiled, though a tinge of indiscernible red appeared on her cheeks.
"You give me too much credit. Kailen has simply matured emotionally and we all should be proud of him."
Realizing that Arrie was unwilling to admit the fact, they chuckled and returned to watching the society wars.
Under the gazes of the empire wide audience, the dead bodies of the society presidents hovered by means of spiritual power behind Kailen.
Booooomm. Booommm Booom..
He floated towards the battlefield, where the members of the societies were unaware of the deaths of the presidents, with battles of cataclysmic proportions still ongoing.
Then, he sighed, voice calm.
"I'm not gonna tell enemy societies to surrender because frankly, you are all gonna die. Just wanted you to know that, your presidents are well, dead, so you know..."
The moment he said that, battles stopped, silence reigned on the battlefield , eyes turned his way.
He really pulled it off?
These were the thoughts of the members of the Atrexia and Sword Tribunal Society.
Though they were not too shocked, it was still quite shocking.
Considering how the dead bodies of the society presidents looked at the moment, the members of the Atrexia and Sword Tribunal Societies felt chills crawl up their spines.
The members of the Sword Tribunal Society sighed in relief for making the right call.
Had they joined the other societies that had made enemies of Kailen Darkhaven, instead of joining the Sword Tribunal Society, they'd probably be in the position of the members of the other societies — whose presidents were dead, and now, enemies of Kailen Darkhaven.
And being this guy's enemy was really the worst thing that could ever happen to anyone.
The members of the Atrexia Society looked at Zarek with renewed respect.
They were very fortunate their president had a good head on his shoulders and had made the right call.
Else, well... they didn't even want to think of the outcome.
As for the other societies, whose presidents were now dead, they panicked, morale crumbled, some even soiled their pants - the sheer weight of the outcome too much for some to bear.
A couple of them even self detonated themselves in fear of being tormented like their presidents probably were before they died.
The members of the Atrexia and Sword Tribunal Society fell on them, hunting them through the secret realm.
"Kill them fuckers!"
"Credits! Credddddiiits!!! Hahahah"
"Please spare me..."
"Give me your sister's number and I'd spare you?"
"Really?"
"Naaa just kidding, die!"
It was a one sided bloodbath.
The empire wide audience didn't even know how to express themselves at this point.
Kailen kept the corpses of the society presidents in his storage ring.
After that, he focused on the battlefield.
"Let's try to strengthen the asura enlightenment physique. This, after all, is a battlefield. And where else can I find bloodlust?"
