Cultivation: Fortune by Lots

Chapter 206: Rebel Specialist

"The Great Five Elements Creation Qi..." Lei Jun's eyes flashed.

He had read about it before in the collections of books stored within the Celestial Master Mansion.

It seemed like a thing, yet not a thing; like a treasure, yet not a treasure.

Rather than calling it a kind of spiritual object or spiritual treasure, it would be better to say it was an essence occasionally formed where global spiritual qi veins converged, evolving through the five phases and holding profound mysteries, unraveling the secrets of creation.

Among those of equal fame were the Great Celestial Universal Mother Qi and the Myriad Phenomena Origin Essence, each inexhaustibly marvelous.

This Great Five Elements Creation Qi was harmless to the body and was a rare stroke of fortune not to be missed.

So it was exactly as the best lot described—there was no danger at all.

But to collect and preserve it was difficult.

Lei Jun's usual habit upon finding treasure had always been to sweep it up first with the Breathing Soil Banner and then take his time studying it later.

But this time, he could not use the same method.

This Great Five Elements Creation Qi, though harmless to humans, was also impervious to persuasion.

If the earthen spiritual power of the Breathing Soil Banner drew near, it was immediately dissolved by this multicolored flowing energy.

Even after years of diligent refinement by Yuan Mobai and Lei Jun as master and disciple, the Supreme Pure Golden Bamboo's wooden spiritual power still could not capture the Great Five Elements Creation Qi.

If Lei Jun's own cultivated Primordial Magnet Force came close, it would to some extent be transmuted by the Great Five Elements Creation Qi into a metallic nature, and then vanish as well.

"This time, I'll have to make an exception." Lei Jun shook his head, gathering his thoughts and will.

He concentrated his mana into two streams, one black and one white, drawing in the multicolored light and guiding this mystical spiritual energy into the True One Altar Cave Heaven within himself, letting it merge with his own being.

Generally speaking, when finding such treasure, Lei Jun would never let his own mana directly contact it so easily—not to mention his spiritual soul; usually, he would carefully study it first and refine it later.

This time, it was a best-lot destiny with no danger involved, so he decided to make an exception—an adventure, in a sense.

Fortunately, the Great Five Elements Creation Qi was just a bit "stubborn"—by nature, it was mild and showed no intense reaction at all.

That stream of five-colored brilliance was gradually drawn into Lei Jun's body, little by little.

But the process could not be completed in a single instant; Lei Jun had to slowly transfer this marvelous spiritual energy within himself.

He unfurled the Breathing Soil Banner and set it around the perimeter, earth and stones churning, temporarily shrouding himself from view.

So long as it was not in direct contact, the earthen essence would not be dissolved by the Great Five Elements Creation Qi.

On the contrary, as Lei Jun absorbed this stream of five-colored energy, his mana operating, the five phases already began to manifest and transform within him.

Metal engendered water, water engendered wood, wood engendered fire, fire engendered earth.

Once Lei Jun processed it himself in the middle, there was actually an unending wellspring of earthen spiritual power, combined with the Breathing Soil Banner, thereby strengthening the banner's spiritual nature.

The dim yellow glow that emerged was neither noticeably increased nor decreased, but it became more profound, more condensed, and far more wondrous.

The earth and stone derived from the yellow light shrouded Lei Jun, growing even more natural, even more hidden, and harder for anyone to spot or see through.

This was actually not bad at all; *it looked like this Great Five Elements Creation Qi had many development possibilities...* Lei Jun thought to himself, pensive.

The five-colored stream of brilliance was ushered by him into the True One Altar Cave Heaven derived from the Celestial Master Seal—not placed into the True One Altar yet, but, like that page of the Celestial Book, temporarily stopped at the center of the altar's outer Dao Field.

Above the Dao Field, the page of the Celestial Book floated and unfurled, shining with light, patterns of the Dao emerging in abundance on its surface.

The Great Five Elements Creation Qi was no longer as "stubborn" as before—instead, it seemed livelier, drifting around that page like colored clouds shrouding the sun.

Both held deep spiritual natures for unraveling nature's profound truths, and there was a faint sense of resonance between the two.

Lei Jun nodded gently, calmed his mind, and continued to collect the rest of the five-colored energy into his body.

However, just then, he felt a slight movement in his heart, sensing something strange outside.

No one had discovered Lei Jun's hiding place, but others were approaching this deep valley.

He had already begun absorbing the Great Five Elements Creation Qi, and there was no way to pause before finishing.

*Lei Jun steadied his mind, remained unflustered, and decided to wait and watch for what would happen next.*

Soon, the newcomers reached the valley floor.

There were two groups, one in front and one behind.

The first group was small; the one behind was larger, chasing and fighting as they moved, clearly one side was hunting the other down.

Lei Jun had initially thought Celestial Master Mansion's Xianliu Palace above was being attacked again, and one of the groups must include fellow Celestial Master Mansion disciples.

But when both groups reached the valley floor, Lei Jun discovered there were no comrades from the Celestial Master Mansion at all.

Moreover, he did not see any disciples from the Jiangzhou Lin Clan either.

The two opposing sides were, evidently, made up mostly of monks.

The fleeing group, who were fewer in number, consisted of three—all monks.

The pursuers, numbering six, included three monks and three laymen.

Seeing this, Lei Jun grew even calmer, hiding himself amid the earth and stone conjured by the Breathing Soil Banner, still concealed, peacefully continuing to absorb his Great Five Elements Creation Qi.

The two sides—one fleeing, one pursuing—were wholly focused on each other, with no time to watch for anything else.

Furthermore, even if someone diligently searched, the stream of five-colored brilliance, for all its abundant spiritual nature, was at the moment fused with Lei Jun, shielded by the Breathing Soil Banner and unlikely to leak out or alert anyone else.

As usual, Lei Jun was covered and sealed by earth and stone, but he could still observe the outside world's movements by way of the Breathing Soil Banner.

He watched the scene coldly, having already discerned the origins of both sides in the conflict.

"Venerable brothers, I hope you will soon realize your waywardness and return. Remember, the Bitter Sea is without bounds, but to turn back is to reach the shore," one of the monks from the larger group said, putting his palms together and invoking a Buddhist chant.

The speaker did not look very old, but his face was etched with suffering, thin and haggard—a true image of an ascetic.

He appeared to be a disciple of Xuantian Temple, sacred land of the Buddhist Precept Adhering Lineage.
