The blonde chef was just staring off into space blankly and I thought she had fainted or something so I went up to her to wave my hand in front of her face.
She suddenly jerked her body as though she just woke up from a dream before looking around her in confusion like she didn't know where she was.
"What… What happened? Wasn't I in heaven… The angels were singing to me and I was bathing in a pool of wine while being hugged by a really beautiful girl from behind?" She muttered.
What the heck kind of hallucination is that? Is she on drugs?
"Sorry, but I think you were hallucinating," I told her.
That seemed to snap her out of it as she turned to look at me, her brain needing a moment more to process what she was seeing before her eyes suddenly widened.
"Whe… Where's the rest?!" She asked, grabbing my shoulders.
I blinked at her, "The rest? The rest of what?"
"The rest of the food?! The best food that I have ever tasted in my entire life?!"
Oh? Did she just admit that out loud?
I tilted my head at her, "So… Are you saying that I won this challenge of yours?"
She blinked and just stared at me like she had no idea what I was talking about.
I couldn't help but feel a little annoyed thinking that this was her way of getting out of admitting she lost by pretending that she doesn't know what I was talking about.
And as I expected, she asked, "What are you talking about?"
I waved my hand in front of me, "Look, I don't care anymore. How about you just take this and go to the side over there and eat it. I'll take over the cooking here."
Without waiting for an answer, I picked up the plate of food I had made for her and placed it directly in her hands before shooing her away.
I looked over at the cart to take stock of what ingredients were left and it looks like this could make a pretty decent full course meal.
I was just about to start when I was suddenly grabbed by the arm and I turned to see the blonde chef looking up at me with a desperate look on her face.
"I… I'm sorry! I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry I'm sorry!! I had completely forgotten about it!! Please forgive me! Te… Teacher!! Teacher!! Please!! I have realised that I know nothing!!"
Well… There's no doubt that everyone around us was completely flabbergasted by her complete flip in attitude.
Well… Everyone except for my girls of course.
Lea took a sip of her water while looking at her over the brim of her cup, "Not only did she insult Mistress… She even dared to try and pretend that her food was not good enough just so that she can avoid admitting that Mistress is better than her."
Damn, Lea… You're really going in for the kill huh?
The blonde chef seemed to remember just how she had been acting earlier and she actually fell down to her knees and pressed her head against the ground.
"I am unworthy!! I did not even realise how insignificant and clueless I was!! Please!! I am willing to do anything! I'll wash your dishes! I'll be your slave!! Just please forgive me!!"
Wow… She's not even doing that to be my student anymore… She just wants my forgiveness and she's willing to go that far just for that?
I mean… It's not like I really care about it to begin with and I kind of expected something like this to happen anyway…
I cleared my throat, "Ahem… It's fine. I don't really mind so please get up."
She peeked up at me but still remained on the ground, "I… Am I… Forgiven?"
"It's fine… As long as you know your mistake."
I was hoping that would assure her and get her to calm down but… Well… She just started to cry right there on the ground.
Geez woman… You're making this really awkward for me now…
I looked up at the staff who were all shooting me looks of confusion, wondering if they should still try and stop me or not.
"Ermm… Could you get another set of ingredients out for me? I'll do some cooking here for everyone."
I was fully expecting the blonde chef to just continue laying on the ground and crying her eyes out but the moment those words left my mouth, she suddenly jumped up on her feet, not caring that her face was still stained with tears.
"I'll do it! I'll do it, Teacher!!"
She then ran off without another word and I guess that was what the security needed to see as they lowered their weapons and tried their best to melt into the background.
Sorry guys… I didn't know that just asking her to use a little bit more seasoning would result in a situation like this.
Well then… Since it's already gotten to this point…
I went back to the grill and looked at the controls properly.
Earlier, I just needed the most basic functions so I didn't bother seeing what I could actually do with the grill and ignored the other settings. But now that I looked at the settings…
This thing is pretty advanced…
Damn, there's even an automatic steam function? And honestly the temperature control is pretty useful too since it literally can designate individual sections of the grill to have different temperatures. I take back what I said about it being unnecessary now.
This thing is definitely better than the one I have on our ship… I kind of want this one for myself now.
I changed a few of the settings and went right back to cooking, already excited to test out this new 'toy'.
I laid out some of the meat that was in the cart and started slicing them up with my spatulas and seasoning them properly like what you are supposed to do.
The mouth watering smell of the meat filled the air and I adjusted the temperature slightly as I picked up some of the vegetables and mushrooms that I will be using to plate the meat as well.
With how focused I was in cooking, my body went back to its natural state while cooking on the grill and I was doing tricks with my tools again.
Then I realised something really important on the cart.
There were eggs.
No, not the bottled one where they were already precracked, but actual eggs that were still in their shells.
I immediately grabbed one and did the trick where I tossed one into the air and let it land on my spatula at just the right amount of force to crack a small bit of it to let the egg white drip onto the grill.
Using that, I went ahead to draw a heart shape as well as an arrow piercing through it and depositing the egg yolk at the very end.
The girls clapped enthusiastically when they saw it and I heard an additional set of clapping coming from the side, prompting me to turn around to see that the blonde chef had returned with a mountain of ingredients piled up on a cart.
Woman… I'm not going to be cooking that much…
Whatever… At least the ingredients she brought look really good and I really want to try cooking them.
I ignored the clapping and started dividing up the food into individual plates, prioritising my girls and myself first before I set aside some for the blonde chef and also some additional plates for the staff.
Hey, it's important to make friends here after that scene we caused.
The girls were all waiting for me to take the first bite so I picked up my plate before gesturing at the plates I prepared for the others.
"That one's for you. The rest is free for anyone to take so go ahead."
I began to munch on the food I just cooked, prompting my girls to do the same as well and moans of pleasure echoed throughout my table.
The blonde chef carefully approached the plate of food I left for her like it was some artefact and lifted it carefully, almost like she was afraid it would break.
No one else came forward though, either because they didn't dare to or had no interest to.
I then realised one problem.
"So… What's your name anyway?" I asked, looking at the chef.
She jumped a little, surprised to be addressed directly before she quickly bowed, "I… I am Merina… Merina Guiddow. I thank Teacher for your magnanimity!!"
I made a humming noise of acknowledgement since I was still busy chewing on the beef that I had just cooked.
Mmmm~ This is really good~
Oh gods… The blonde chef that I now know as Merina is sobbing while she's eating again.
Girl, come on… You're going to make your food I seasoned perfectly salty with those tears of yours…
