As a dragon, Kent's main elemental affinity is the Chaos Flame. He had already witnessed how Chaos handled that flame in the past.
Although he had yet to awaken his Chaos Aura and Chaos Heart, his affinity for the chaos flame had already reached the Harmony stage. This means he can harness the Chaos flame much more efficiently this time.
So now that he has awakened 25% of his bloodline, and he can take on his True dragon form, using the flame for attacks like dragon breath is now possible.
He saw how dangerous his chaos flame got when Chaos went to train in the blood system. Back then, Kent saw that the stronger he became, the more deadly his flame.
It was one of the many reasons for his dominance in that region.
However, Kent couldn't help wondering just what kind of ice he would awaken and how dangerous he would become if he were to wield both Ice and fire. Breathing ice is something only the Ice Dragons, or as they prefer to be called, the Crystal Dragons, can do.
The crystal breath is a dangerous attack that most dragons fear. So if he can harness such chilling powers, there is no telling just what kind of monster he will become.
'I mean, harness both ice and fire, and even going as far as merging both, sure has the prospect of becoming a megasonic attack.'
This is why he was prepared for anything right from the start.
He will not pass up the chance to become even more powerful. It is a golden opportunity handed to him, so his shameless self will take it without hesitation.
Kent walked forward and stopped at the first step, an extreme bone-chilling ice assaulting his body. He took a deep breath and deactivated his dragon wings and horn.
Then, with calculated ease, he deactivated all other forms of defence.
He wanted to face the ice with nothing but his bare body first, and then, if he needed to activate more of his defences along the way, he would do it. It is better to know what he is going against before making any sudden changes.
"Here goes nothing."
He raised his left leg and stepped on the first step. In an instant, his left leg froze solid, bone-chilling cold travelling through his body. However, Kent didn't bother and instead lifted his right leg and stepped on it too.
"This is going to be a wild one."
The ice travelled through his body, threatening to freeze him from within. However, as it slowly moved within him, Kent began to sense it calming down bit by bit. It was as if he remained standing, nearly freezing to death, his body slowly started to adapt to the ice.
This is one of his many qualities. He easily adapts to things regardless of the danger he is in.
Naturally, he quickly adapted to it, prompting him to take the second step. He had 1000 steps to climb and a whole lot of danger to face. So, just adapting to the ice won't be enough.
And since he can't use his flame, it only adds to the danger. However, he would have to find a way to adapt and climb all 1000 steps without fail.
Kent's bones crackled as the cold sank deeper, gripping every inch of him like a living creature hungry for warmth.
The second step was far colder, far harsher, almost as if it had a will of its own. He felt his muscles stiffen, his heartbeat slowing as frost gathered across his chest and shoulders.
Still, Kent pushed forward.
His will isn't that weak. He had already faced so much danger before, and every time, the will to live trumps the desire to give up. Today is no different from any other day, so he will endure and win in the end.
After all, his wife told him not to fail.
He lifted his leg again and stepped onto the third step. The moment his leg stepped on it, a violent shiver ran through his body, nearly forcing him to kneel.
His breath escaped in short, sharp bursts, fogging the air around him.
A shockwave of ice burst forth, filling the surrounding area. Since the domain he is in is made of ice, nothing else froze. However, the cold is strong enough to freeze even someone with perfect flame affinity.
It is dangerous and life-threatening, but his eyes remained calm. His determination is firm and unwavering.
'So this is the trial of the First Ice… Good. I am going to suffer for sure, but I have to endure. The reward will be worth it'
He welcomed the pain, the cold, the threat to his life. The more it pushed against him, the more he endured and pushed back. This was how dragons evolve—through trials meant to break weaker beings.
Chaos had endured and overcome many adversities in the past. So he too will get through them and emerge a winner in the end.
Of course, it is not going to be a walk in the park.
By the fifth step, the world around him had turned completely white. Everything is ice. Every direction was a blizzard.
Razor-sharp winds lashed at him, each gust cutting into his skin and opening frostbitten wounds. His arms trembled. His fingertips were losing all feeling.
His legs had become numb, with no feeling whatsoever travelling through them.
'I can't feel my legs.' Kent muttered, a pale smile appearing on his white lips as he looked ahead at the hundreds of steps to climb.
It is already at this dangerous junction when he hadn't even gotten anywhere.
Yet Kent refused to activate even a single dragon scale.
He continued climbing.
On the seventh step, a new pressure slammed down on him—an invisible weight that tried to crush his bones. He staggered forward, barely catching himself.
But his determination is much stronger than one might think. Soon, he had climbed 50 steps with his bare body. However, to continue, he had to activate his scale.
He coated his legs with his dark-gold dragon scales and slowly continued climbing.
Atop the mountain, the ladies continued to watch their man slowly scale the stairway one step at a time.
"Looks like he is much stronger than he looks," Miryssa said, looking at Kent step on the 70th step with ease, and then he moved to the 71st a second later.
"He is not a weakling like you might think," Unity said, feeling proud.
After Kent activated his dragon scales, he started climbing much faster—a clear sign that his dragon scales do more than take on powerful attacks.
They can withstand ice much better than most defensive skills.
"At this rate, he will clear this trial in less than 5 days," Selene muttered, watching Kent step on the 100th step.
In no time, he moved past it. But he slowly started covering his entire body with dragon scales since the higher he climbed, the more frigid the ice became.
"I give him three days," Elsa said.
Runa, however, merely smiled and shook her head... "We can only watch and see what happens. But I give him 2 days tops."
Miryssa could only look at the ladies, stunned. The way they are treating the trial made her wonder just what kind of monster Kent is.
