On the outside, Gaap circled around, observing the formation without the bony figure noticing his presence. He was outside the domain's range of coverage, so he couldn't be sensed.
But even if he could sense him, it wasn't like he could attack him. Risking it has a high chance of making things even worse for him.
After about ten minutes, Gaap saw something that made him smile. He quickly transmitted his thoughts to Kent, who was seated inside the dome formed by his Chaos Scale Shield.
"Master, it seems I have found the key to destroying his domain. However, you are not going to like it."
Kent furrowed his brow.
"How hard are we talking?" he asked.
"Like killing tens of thousands of undead beings before getting to their master kind of hard."
"That hard, huh?"
"Very. The guy is a necromancer for sure. However, there is something strange about him that I find creepy and a bit unsettling. Of course, I can't see how many Immortal Qis he has, but he is a Core Immortal."
"Then it seems we have to move fast and deadly. They are undead, meaning they wouldn't really die. He can summon them over and over again, so before he can do that, we must go deadly upon him."
"That is going to be a little dangerous, master. There is no telling what he has planned, and from what I can see here, he even has several Spirit Immortal undead in his legion, so taking all of them in one fell swoop isn't going to be simple at all.
In my opinion, we should create a formation to counter this one. I already have one in mind, but it would take five hours to create.
However, when done, it would even allow us to break this formation and face him in a fair fight.
He has so many warriors on his side that fighting all to get to him would be a headache, even for someone like you. But breaking the formation is a step closer to getting to him."
Kent said nothing, but he sat there, surrounded by the protective embrace of his Chaos Scale Shield fashioned into a dome, letting all Gaap said settle in.
In moments like this, one may have the strength, but they would be so restricted that they couldn't harness it. In fact, Kent had finally seen what happens when one steps into the playing field prepared by the opponent.
He was trapped inside the formation, and the only way out was to break it. But to break this formation, he must fight thousands of opponents that cannot die even if they wanted to.
They are undead, with the only way they die being if the one summoning them also dies. Naturally, reaching this person would be a headache, and Kent knew that.
If not because of the domain restricting his senses to only a 500-meter radius, he would have already made his move, killing the bony figure swiftly. But it seemed he had finally met his match...
He had the strength to topple mountains, but he could not use it. His opponent prepared for him and set the perfect trap.
"It is indeed annoying knowing I can kill this bastard with a single slash, yet I am shackled in place," Kent smirked, then issued a command to Gaap. "Return, buddy. If we can't fight them, then we might as well drown them."
"You don't mean?"
"Yes. While I never expected to unleash it this early into my battle, it wouldn't be too bad to see the power of the Underworld Soul River."
"Damn, I can't wait to see it." Gaap appeared inside the dome, still completely evading the senses of the bony figure.
Kent stood up and dismissed the domain, leaving five shields circling around him.
"I know you can hear me, so listen carefully. I wanted to fight you on fair grounds; however, since you have made it impossible for me to do that, I have no choice but to drown you and your army."
Kent paused and let out a chuckle. "Be happy, though, for you are the first person I will be using the technique against. And don't worry, you are guaranteed to die, so rest in peace, I guess."
Kent took a deep breath, and he tapped into the Underworld Soul River technique. Inside his soul sea, the large dark door shuddered and vanished, appearing on the outside.
Just when it appeared, the entire cemetery shuddered, causing the formation to shatter like glass.
Kent even took several steps back, feeling his soul tremble as he beheld this terrifying gate. However, he had no time to waste since the longer it stayed outside, the more soul essence it consumed.
"Behold, the fury of the Underworld River, Styx."
CRACK
A cracking sound appeared, and the door parted, revealing the darkest river any being would only set their sight on when they die. Kent opened it into the world of the living, and from within it surged like a sea, releasing loud wailing, screaming, groaning, howling, and all kinds of chilling sounds.
Kent watched as the dark water surged through the barely opened gate and began to fill everywhere, drowning the undead and quickly spreading over several kilometres.
As the undead were pulled into the river, their screams and fear were absorbed as well. Kent, who was on the side, nearly freaking out, could sense the river growing stronger and more devastating.
The bony figure who was having the upper hand now found himself surrounded, fear gripping him like shackles.
He had been rooted to the same spot, his bony legs squeaking like they were about to fall off. It was like gazing into the chill expanse of the Underworld River had completely immobilised him.
However, just five seconds into the activation of the Underworld Soul River, Kent felt an invisible force pressing on his soul.
'Damn, does this mean I can only use this for less than ten seconds?'
Kent muttered, then he cut the connection to the Underworld Soul River, causing the water to quickly retreat back to the door. It closed, and in less than two seconds, it was back inside his soul sea.
However, the damage had already been done. The bony figure had been scared to death. The river didn't even reach him, but he died from sheer fear, bringing an end to what could have been Kent's longest battle.
"Well, that went better than it should have." Kent expected the Underworld Soul River to be dangerous—which it was—however, he most certainly didn't expect it to be this dangerous.
Scaring a Core Immortal to death is just too much to even think about. That shouldn't even be possible. However, it happened, and the result is the messages showing before him that he had indeed killed his opponent.
Aside from that, he also didn't expect the Underworld Soul River to be this draining. While he wasn't running out of soul essence anytime soon, the pressure he felt could have crushed his soul.
Just five seconds into the skill activation, and he felt the pressure that deep and strong.
"Damn, I should be careful next time."
He sighed and waved his hand, taking the storage pouch...
