Everyone was left stunned, unsure of what to say after reading the description of the mission that they must complete this time around.
Some of the details are just too much for them to understand, and as such, aside from the fact that this strange beast is even stronger than a Heavenly Ascension stage warrior, it also seems to be from a different category of beasts.
However, the confusion is coming from the fact that they had no idea what any of this meant.
Of course, Vexthra knew, so after reading, they all focused their attention on her.
She nodded and started to reveal what she knew.
"To understand the dangerous nature of this mission, we must first learn about the Calamity Era and the horrors it brought to the universe.
I, just like before, only know a few details about the Calamity Era. However, from what I know, just like how the Dark Era brought the Dark Creatures or like how the Chaos Era brought the Chaos Beasts, that era brought a special breed of beasts called Calamity Beasts.
Of course, it was just like any era where a universe-ending battle happens; however, in that era, the beasts that came were just too powerful. They are like the forbidden race; the world's restrictions don't apply to them.
So a god-level Calamity Beast can roam freely in a medium world. This is why the beast we have to kill this time around is an Empyrean in a high world, something that shouldn't have been possible.
But like always, every universe-ending level beast comes with their own pros and cons. In the aspect of this nine-headed flaming lion, its core is loaded with what we call flame law."
"You mean to say the beast we have to kill has absolute flame?" Lilian asked, her expression turning dull. She is an absolute flame user herself after Kent gave her a primordial flame sea to absorb.
So she knew just how harrowing the absolute flame can be. Learning that her potential opponent is also a flame user, she felt threatened.
And it isn't just her; even Aetheris, the flame brute, also felt like their next opponent is not going to be a weakling at all.
Vexthra looked at them and smiled, "Of course it has absolute flame, but it is killable if you put your mind to it. However, it is not going to be easy."
They said nothing, but they all knew she was right. The beast had to be killed, and as such, regardless of what the beast is made of, it must be killed
"I say the reward is worth the headache, so we have to end it as quickly as possible. Also, only five of you will fight since it is only an Empyrean." Vexthra paused and scanned everyone's faces...
"Obviously, Aetheris and Lilian, you will be part of the fight thanks to your flame elements." Lilian nodded with a smile while Aetheris became ultra-happy.
Just like Lilian, he also received a primordial flame seed, and so he has reached the absolute flame stage. If he faced this beast, he would finally be able to see how far his flame element could take him.
Vexthra looked around for a few more seconds until her gaze landed on Velyra. The moment the redskin beauty felt her big sister's gaze, she smiled.
"You will join them too, Velyra." She nodded with a smile.
She draws her strength from blood, so at least this is a good thing. She is in no way at a severe disadvantage. Just like how the flame will burn her, she, too, could bleed the poor beast dry.
They both have their strengths and weaknesses.
Unity decided to wear puppy eyes to make her big sister pity her and add her to the team. However, Vexthra merely smirked and looked away from her. This made her pout... "Big sister, you are a bully."
Vexthra chuckled and focused on Alina, "You must join the team and make sure a containment formation is deployed to prevent some overachievers from getting close and losing their lives stupidly.
Also, it should be strong enough to contain the beasts. When that is achieved, you can deploy your attack formations."
"Favouritism." Val joined Unity, and they started throwing tantrums.
However, a goddess like Vexthra isn't easily manipulated, so she merely brushed aside their words and focused on the last teammate for this mission.
After looking through, her gaze landed on Veydris, who stood on the side with his metallic face and nonchalant expression.
"Buddy, you are the 5th member."
Veydris said nothing—since he can't speak or show expressions—but Vexthra knew he understood what she said, and he would be ready to go into battle.
Irina stood by Veydris' side, her arms wrapped around his.
Her obsession with the Lost Knight is just too shocking and perhaps admirable. Veydris had never spoken, not once, yet for years now, Irina never left his side.
Even Kent couldn't help but wonder a few times what she saw in his metal knight. However, knowing there is someone there for the most dangerous void user in his legion made him happy.
But it is weird, though.
After the team was formed, Vexthra focused only on the five members, who comprised Aetheris, a flaming tyrant. He is a member of the Eternal Wrath Legion and a being made from the flaming source of a dying star.
There is also Lilian, who has two deadly cores, one for ice and the other for fire. She is a dragon and one of the best mortal combat mages in Kent's harem and legion.
There is Velyra, who is among the best swordsmen in the harem and legion. She has control over blood and can harness its bleeding power far more deadly than one would expect.
Alina, of course, is the undisputed formation expert in the harem and legion. Her intelligence in runes, arrays, and formations makes her a formidable opponent.
Then finally, there is Veydris, whose control over the void is even more advanced than Ingrid, who is a voidling.
Naturally, the team is perfect. Alina will contain the beasts. Lilian, being a mage, would attack from afar, Aetheris and Velyra would go for close combat, and Veydris would be their killing weapon, hidden within the void.
It is a perfect team, the kind that has all the elements needed to battle a beast of this magnitude.
"You five will go to the Fire Nation's main city and register as adventurers who have answered the call for help and have come to kill the beasts.
You don't have to tell them to let you handle it. I believe when the beast is free, many would run, so just relax and let them clear out.
Once you have the battlefield, Alina will coordinate the battle, and hopefully, it will be over before we know it.
Of course, we will be nearby to make sure nothing bad happens."
"Rest assured, big sister, we five are more than enough for this mission," Alina said, giving a sidelong glance to Unity, who smirked and turned away.
"Good to hear that. Now, you can leave; the city is 3 hours' flight to the west."
