"Ughhh…"
My head was spinning, the pain throughout my body was obvious even though I couldn't feel the wounds directly. There were wounds before, but now they have closed.
The pain, however, still lingered around those parts.
"Miss Aria! Please rest!"
"The medicine wore off so soon? Was the dose not sufficient?"
"We have to keep her down. She needs to rest!"
There were a bunch of people around me, some wearing white robes of priests while some wearing the white coats of doctors.
They seemed to be the medical team, and from the looks of it, I was inside a safe area right now. The tent and the distinct orange light made it pretty obvious to me.
"Wait…"
It was painful but I somehow managed to stop the person with an injection in her hand.
"Don't. I… I'm fine." Before she could inject the sedative, I sat up.
The pain was there but it wasn't as bad as having my belly ripped open. I have had worse than this.
Besides, the treatment that they gave me seemed to be working.
"Miss Aria! We are told that you must rest!"
"Miss Arcage asked us to look after you!"
"Captain Lux will yell at us if you–."
"Just shut up and tell me what's going on out there."
There were loud noises all around us right now. These voices included the scream of the Naga mother, the explosives of different kinds, sounds of magic spells, shouts and screams of the people that were fighting the creature, as well as of the unstable dungeon.
"But Miss Arcage…" They were hesitating to tell me what was going on and wasting time with them was pointless here.
"Ughhh!" Enduring the pain, I got up myself and looked around the place.
I was not wearing all the gears from earlier but I wasn't in a patient gown either. Thankfully, the clothes and items were sitting nearby so I first grabbed them and went on to get the potions that were sitting on the other side.
"Qwy, tell me what's going on out there."
As I walked out of the tent, I asked my baby about what was going on the battlefield.
She had been out there, watching over everything going on. And it was because of the shared emotions that I had some idea of what might have happened while I was out cold in the emergency ward.
"Qwy~!"
Somewhere on the battlefield, the single eye that wasn't visible to many screamed, her voice somehow reaching me. She first scolded me for walking even though I was not feeling well.
But then she understood the reasoning behind my actions without me saying anything and started showing me what was going on on the battlefield.
"Qwy! Qwy!"
According to what I understood, our forces were starting to push the Naga mother back.
There was resistance in the beginning but with the deployment of the Sanctuary, the Naga mother started losing her edge.
"Seems like things didn't get too complicated while I was out."
On the battlefield, the battle was not only being fought against the Naga but also the blades that she was controlling as well as all the creatures that she had summoned.
The scene that I could see as soon as I reached the cliff outside the safe camp, I saw all of the tiny people fighting against the giant beast.
They were not only fighting her, their blades, as small as a toothpick in front of her, were able to cut through her steel like scales.
Their magic, as tiny as a simple droplet of light, was defending against the one meter tall scales. The light of the holy skill that rained down on the battlefield was helping them all fight against the beast, weakening the spirit creature.
The humans and other adventurers, as tiny and weak as they may look, were still battling against the behemoth with an upper hand.
Their battle looked like the mortals' fight against the divine. They made the creature struggle… in their eyes, it was an evil they must take down, while in the red eyes of the Naga, they were the enemies that she must eliminate.
"Look at you now."
But there was one thing that they could not see: the creature that they were fighting wasn't the deadly beast that it appeared to be in their eyes.
"This damn dungeon…"
There were restraints all around her body right now, red chains visible only to us. These chains restricted her will, and at the same time, pushed her to a point where she had lost herself completely.
Only moving by her instincts, she recklessly used her powers, not utilizing her skills as strategically as she would have if she wasn't in that miserable state.
She was hugging empty shells like they were her own children, her will was taken away from her, she was not the being that gave up her children.
'She's just a doll now.'
A puppet without a free will, a true monster.
And, there's something worse about this empty monster…
"You fucking bastard."
The same chains that were restraining the creature also supplied it with energy and what seemed to be a different kind of negative energy that I've already dealt with.
"Do you think she's a dumpster just because of her circumstances?"
Cursing the dungeon was of no use, but I couldn't help myself right now. The dungeon knew the Naga was going to be killed by these people sooner or later, so it was pumping all the negative data or the corrupt energy as they call it, into her.
The same negative energy that the dungeon circulates through a complex process was all being shoved inside the perfect anomaly vessel.
"Why is it doing it if it will only break the balance?"
The adventurers were all fighting against the Naga but the spirit creature was fighting a battle of her own. Despite the restraints, her instincts chose survival over elimination of the enemy.
'That's why she was using much of her resources to counter this negative power.'
If you supply a very powerful computer with all the resources in the world, it will produce very quick and effective results, but if the same resources are being wasted on countering a virus, the processing power it can spare for the other operations reduces greatly.
The same was going on with her right now. She was not complete enough to kill the humans, and she wasn't broken enough to fall to the corruption just yet.
But that would not last for long…
"Qwy, find Reddy and Captain Lux. We have to tell them to change the plan immediately. The creature is going to fall to corruption soon."
As calm as my voice may have sounded, I was shaking right now. The opponent was no simple enemy, and if it falls to corruption, it will become a bigger threat.
I don't know if it will go from Green-rank to a Blue-rank threat but if it does, we will not be enough to finish this creature.
'In case the dungeon fails to handle the monstrosity it creates, it will throw it out of the dungeon, and if that happens…'
I don't think I have to say what might happen in that case.
The kingdom of Isis would be fortunate if it is left in a recoverable state after that.
"That damn dungeon…"
I don't know much about the dungeons but I don't think any well programmed system would do anything to harm itself.
Then again, a dungeon was not the same as a programmed system.
It had an inherent purpose.
And right now, it seems like it's trying something new to fulfill its purpose.
