Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 227: A foreign seal

I looked below the flyover for half a minute and finally turned away when I couldn't see her anywhere.

"It's the first time I saw her talking so casually and with such a warm expression on her face," Sister Aisha said, referring to Saya. "Her demeanor was completely different today."

"Exactly! After she became an Awakener, she always had this seriousness surrounding her, but today she appeared just like she used to be back then," Aryan added.

"And did you notice the face she was making?" Sister Aisha whispered.

"What face?"

"She was blushing while looking at Raj. There's definitely something cooking. It's a woman's intuition."

"Hahaha! He is my brother after all. She must be mesmerised by his looks."

"Guys, you know I can hear you, right?" I scoffed, opening the car door and getting inside.

"Look at you trying to act cool," Aryan snickered. "You must be dancing with happiness inside. Tell your brother—don't hide it from me."

"I used to have a crush on her, but I'm already in a relationship now," I babbled without thinking properly.

"WHATTT!!??" both Sister Aisha and Aryan shouted, the poor duo getting hit by another surprise.

"Who is it? Who is it?" Sister Aisha asked, her eyes gleaming with excitement.

"Is it her?" Aryan asked, pointing at the sleeping Jasmine.

"Shit! What was I thinking when I said that!?" I screamed inwardly before revealing, averting my eyes, "Guys, I'm in a relationship with my katana. I enjoy dancing with it."

The couple let out a sigh of disappointment. Aryan rotated the key and once again hit the accelerator, clearly disappointed by my answer.

"Tsk! If that bastard Rudra hadn't come, you could've used the thing I gave you," Aryan sighed.

It was only then that I remembered he had put something inside my pocket before I was about to leave.

"What exactly did you give me back then?" I mumbled, slipping my hand into my pocket.

"You didn't check it!? Hey! Don't take it out now!" he shouted, losing focus on the road as I nonchalantly pulled out a small cuboid-shaped box from my pocket.

"Durex. World's thinnest co—"

I instantly shoved it back into my pocket, realising what it was.

"You—you geezer! What were you thinking, giving me something like that!?" I shouted, my face burning bright red.

"I thought you might need it," Aryan mumbled, averting his eyes.

"Why in the world would I need that!?" I snapped, completely flustered.

Before Aryan could say something that would've made the situation worse, another flustered voice came from behind.

"G-guildmaster! You are too much!!" Jasmine shouted, already awake and hiding her blushing face behind her hands.

"Ahem—ahem… you're awake," Sister Aisha said, trying to ease the awkward atmosphere.

"Un! Thank you for saving us, Vice Guildmaster Aisha and Guildmaster Aryan," Jasmine replied, pushing herself up to a sitting position.

"It was Shadow Monarch Saya who saved you," Sister Aisha said as she explained what happened while Jasmine was unconscious.

After travelling for several kilometres, Aryan stopped the car in front of a hotel where I took a bath and changed my clothes.

Sigh… "One more suit gifted by her is ruined," I murmured sadly as I stared at the tattered white shirt of the suit I had worn for the first time.

I placed the clothes inside my inventory and stepped out. It then took more than two hours for us to finally reach home.

Surprisingly, after their initial fury, Sister Aisha and Aryan didn't bring up the topic again and even told me not to mention it to Maa, as it would only cause unnecessary worry.

After reaching home, I went straight to my room and lay down on my bed, trying to gather the countless thoughts swirling in my mind.

"Vivi, what would have happened if I died today?" I asked. "Would my consciousness have returned to the other body?"

"If this body of the Host dies, then the Host's soul will be stuck between the boundary of the World of the Living and the World of Death because half of the Host's soul resides in the other body."

"Whoah! That's scary!" I exclaimed, but my expression soon turned sorrowful.

"My fiancée is waiting for me there, and here I stupidly risked my life for the sake of a quest. Just imagining the face she'd make after learning of my death breaks my heart."

Since the moment I returned, I had been trying to keep myself as busy as possible so I wouldn't think about her, but with each passing day, the void in my heart only grew wider.

A tear rolled down from the corner of my eye as I buried my face into the pillow.

"Why am I missing her so much? I wish I could embrace her tightly."

At that moment, the words of the Brahmin sage strangely echoed in my mind.

. . .

"You do not belong here."

"Why did you come to Prithvi?"

"You do not know yourself."

. . .

"What exactly did he mean when he said that?"

The thought kept bugging me and even robbed me of my sleep, leaving me restless.

I was already confused about my existence—the forehead mark, the mythic bloodline, the Bane family, and the attacker from that day being a Thunderbane as well.

Vivi also refused to tell me who I really was, saying I didn't have enough authority to learn the answer, which only deepened my confusion.

"Could it be that my father is a Thunderbane?" I thought inwardly.

I had never seen him, so it was a possibility, but I quickly dismissed the thought because my brother didn't have the same forehead mark as me—leading to another wild theory.

"Wh-what if I'm not from this world?"

After giving that ridiculous thought a mere second, I laughed. "Haha! No way that's possible. As long as I can remember, I've been here on Earth."

"As long as I remember… as long as—"

A cold sweat drenched my body as I realised something that completely flipped my world upside down.

"I-I can't remember anything before the age of six. It's—it's like a wall is blocking my memories beyond that point."

Ding…

"The Host has realised the blockage in his memories. A foreign seal has been embedded into the Host's memories.

Condition to remove the seal: The seal is cast in such a way that it will automatically vanish once the Host reaches the Awakened Sage Realm."
