Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 241: Special Custom Challenge

The moment I read the message, I lost all strength in my body. It felt like I was thrown into an endless abyss.

"N-nine months?" I mumbled, my lips shivering and my whole body trembling.

"Vivi, how can I return my consciousness to the body in Vyoman?"

"As Vivi mentioned before, there is a possibility that the host might never return to Vyoman."

"I-I promised her I would return within a year," I choked, desperation consuming me with each passing second.

"Huff... huff..." I breathed heavily, holding my chest where my heart beat like war drums.

"Aghh!! Wh-what's happening..."

"Warning! Emotional overload detected!"

"Skill: Unshakable Mind has prevented the host from cardiac arrest!"

"Vivi... please... I beg you... let me go back," I pleaded as the promises I made to those whom I left behind weighed down on me.

"..."

For a few minutes, Vivi didn't respond. Then an unexpected message popped up:

"Vivi can provide the host with a custom quest to earn a reward of the host's choice.

Would you like to see the details?

[Yes] [No]"

The hologram message came like a ray of hope in the endless abyss I was falling into. Without thinking for another second, I pulled myself together and pressed the [Yes] button.

"Custom Quest (0/3): A quest provided by Vivi that allows the host to choose a reward.

The reward is limited to:

1. Forgotten knowledge or information

2. Skills suitable for the host

3. Skill evolution

4. Special privileges of Vivi that can only be accessed at higher authority levels of the host

[Enter the reward to generate the quest]"

"Note:

1. The difficulty of the custom quest is relatively higher than regular quests.

2. The difficulty could further increase depending on the type of reward the host requests.

3. The penalty for failing the custom quest will be life-threatening."

"I don't care about the difficulty of the quest," I muttered. "I will overcome any obstacle to fulfill my promise."

I took a deep breath, calmed my mind, and entered the details of the reward after thorough consideration.

"An ability that allows me to freely transfer my consciousness between bodies on Earth and Vyoman. The ability should return me to the same point in time I left during the previous consciousness transfer."

"Analyzing the details of the reward..."

"Checking reward eligibility..."

"Error! Vivi's database doesn't contain an ability that can move the host's consciousness between two worlds without a time lag. However, there is an ability that can significantly reduce the time."

"By how much?" I asked.

"One year in one world can be reduced to a time gap of one day in the other, where the host's body lies dormant."

"And I thought you could only shrink the time by a day or two," I sighed in relief, reading the details of this ability.

"Go ahead," I ordered.

"Warning! The reward requested by the host is considered a divine-level ability. The difficulty of the quest could reach extreme levels.

Are you sure you want to continue?"

"You are a smart AI, Vivi. Don't you already know my answer?"

"Generating the quest..."

---

Several minutes passed, yet the generation wasn't completed. After thirty minutes, another system window appeared.

Ding..

"Due to the very specific nature of the reward the host has requested, the system needs to analyze the surroundings to generate the quest. This process will take six to seven days."

"Six to seven days!? By then, a year will have passed in Vyoman."

I was desperate to return to Vyoman, but I didn't lose my patience. It was already a relief that I was getting this opportunity to meet her again.

Thus, the waiting time began.

For the next few days, there were only two things I was doing: exercising to complete the daily quest and checking the custom quest window every hour or two, just to make sure the quest had appeared.

Although I was aware that Vivi would send a notification once the quest was generated, I still couldn't stop myself from looking at it repeatedly.

Aryan and Sister Aisha also returned two days after the historical duel. They took a week off from the guild and went on a family trip to Hawaii with Inayat and Maa.

Obviously, they wanted me to come as well, but I somehow refused them with the excuse that I was about to ascend in rank and needed some alone time for meditation.

---

"Today is the last day of the 30-Day Challenge," I murmured, waking up from sleep.

"I hope the custom quest and the special challenge won't overlap with each other. It will be troublesome to deal with two difficult quests on the same day."

The moment I rose from the bed, I was welcomed by a system window slapping me in the face.

Ding…

"The Day-30 challenge of the 30-Day Daily Challenge has begun!

Special challenges and rewards for the 30th day have been triggered!!!!"

Ding…

"The custom quest has been successfully generated!!"

"Fuck! I jinxed it!" I shouted, facepalming myself.

Ding…

"The Special Challenge and the Custom Quest are merged into a single Special Custom Challenge."

"Huh!? Are you being for real?" I exclaimed, my depressed face suddenly laced with gladness.

"Quickly, show me the quest!"

"Huh!? An E-Rank gate!?" I exclaimed, utterly confused. "And the quest doesn't even want me to solo it. I just need to clear it with the most contribution."

For a moment, I thought the quest might have an error where it mistakenly wrote E-Rank instead of A-Rank. However, I didn't question it. Why would I deliberately point out Vivi's mistake and receive a harder quest?

"Guess I need to make a call to Uncle Reyaan," I said, stretching my arms.
