Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 261: Devourous Prime

The moment I stepped into the portal and reached Earth, multiple status windows popped up before my eyes.

Ding…

"Congratulations! You have completed the special custom challenge.

[Claim the reward]"

Ding…

"Congratulations! You have completed the 30 Days Daily Challenge series.

[Claim the reward]"

While I was enjoying the satisfaction of this accomplishment, sudden flashes struck my face.

When the status windows disappeared, I realised it was already midnight outside.

Numerous cameras were trained on my face from a distance, relentless flashes exploding against my vision as the entire area lay sealed behind barriers, officers in formal attire standing guard around the gate.

The people in the distance, who appeared to be reporters, and the officers guarding the gate looked at me with their jaws dropped and eyes widened.

"I-if he's alive, that means the gate is cleared?" an officer muttered, disbelief all over his face.

"I'm seeing it with my own eyes but still can't believe it. There wasn't anyone strong enough who could clear that dungeon."

"What in the actual world did happen inside?"

The officers broke into hushed murmurs, their shock impossible to suppress.

Heeding them no mind, Aryan took me towards the helicopter parked a few metres apart from the portal.

"You also have a helicopter!?" I gasped, my low, tired voice laced with surprise.

Releasing a sigh of disbelief, Aryan helped me climb the stairs of the helicopter.

How could he get surprised by such a minor thing as owning a helicopter after what he had done inside the gate?—He was definitely thinking something like that, which was the reason for his sigh.

As soon as we took our seats in the helicopter, I rested my head on Aryan's shoulder, and before I knew it, I had already fallen asleep.

---

When my eyes opened, I found myself in a small room with white walls—the same kind of room I was first in when I returned from Vyoman.

"Again in a hospital, huh?" I murmured to myself, releasing a sigh.

My bare torso was wrapped in bandages, and a glucose syringe was injected into my right arm, which was malnourished due to the curse.

On the table against the opposite wall, my Tux Exclusive suit and Shinku no Sabi were placed.

I pushed myself into a sitting position, my body still aching with a faint, lingering pain from the injuries.

"Vivi, claim the reward of both quests," I ordered, my voice carrying a hint of haste.

"Initialising Host's request…"

I felt a sudden surge of strength course through my body, the lingering pain from my injuries reducing to a great extent.

"All stats +10"

"Congratulations! You have received a new attribute-based skill: Yin-Yang Soul Conjuration.

Description: The Host can materialise souls by fusing Yin and Yang energies.

These conjured souls are incomplete beings that evolve by feasting on the souls of the dead, strengthening themselves and inheriting traits from their prey.

Would you like to learn it?

[Yes] [No]

Note: Once born, each soul becomes bound to a single species lineage, determined by the first soul it devours."

"Soul Conjuration!?" I gasped, reading the description. "That's awesome! Teach me instantly!"

"Sending the required information of the skill directly to Host's brain…"

After a few seconds of mild headache from the electrical pulse of information—which I had already gotten used to—another window screen popped up.

"Congratulations! You have learned the skill: Yin-Yang Soul Conjuration!

Yin-Yang Soul Conjuration (Level 1):

Current capacity: 1/1

– Soul type: Monster"

"Huh? Why do I already have a soul?" I mumbled, raising an eyebrow.

"This soul was materialised by the Host when he unleashed Blade of Death. The soul has already consumed Grendel's soul, so it has inherited the traits of monsters. Vivi had absorbed that soul into the Host's Sea of Soulforce in case the Host learned Yin-Yang Soul Conjuration."

"Vivi, you are so smart that sometimes it sends chills down my spine," I gasped before continuing. "Summon the soul. I would like to see it."

"Initialising Host's request…"

An abyssal energy pool materialised on the floor beside the bed, and from this pool ascended a dark, eerie, cold figure.

The figure was a mirror image of Troll King Grendel, only smaller in size, darker, and marked with white patterns drawn across its body.

"Ugh! This soul is giving me PTSD," I murmured, getting flashbacks of the battle with Grendel.

Ding…

"The soul is nameless! Give the soul a name.

[Enter name]"

"A name, huh?" I rubbed my chin, thinking of something cool.

"Since it's a monster-type being and can only grow by eating monsters…"

I flicked my finger, coming up with what I felt was the coolest name, almost feeling proud of myself as I typed it in.

"Devourous Prime"

"Would you like to register 'Devourous Prime' as the name for your first conjured soul?

[Yes] [No]"

"Of course," I announced, my arms folded, my face tugged into a proud smile.

For just a blink of an eye, a window suddenly appeared and vanished.

"As expected of the Host. What a corny name!" — disappeared.

Ding…

"The name has been successfully registered."

Veins bulged on my forehead—not because Vivi dared to insult this amazing name, but because it deliberately made the window disappear instantly, at a speed that still ensured I read it.

"Bastard! You're getting better with the insults," I growled, but soon forgave it since I was in a good mood.

"I'll check your abilities later," I said to Devourous Prime.

It slightly nodded before descending back into the abyssal pool.

"Vivi, claim the next reward."

"Initialising Host's request…"

"Congratulations! You have received a new skill: Yin-Yang Breathing Technique.

Description: A profound breathing technique that allows the Host to absorb Yin energy from freshly deceased beings, perform dual cultivation, and draw Yin–Yang energy from locations or objects imbued with these forces.

Would you like to learn it?

[Yes] [No]"

"Do it," I commanded, already getting excited as I read the description.

"Sending the information about the skill directly to Host's brain…"

After learning this skill, the biggest pain in the butt—being unable to absorb Yin energy without the quest—was finally resolved.

Now I could enter as many gates as I wanted—after graduating from the academy, of course.

Once I learned the skill, it was time to receive the final reward of the quest—the very thing for which I had gone through all this suffering.

With an uncontrollable smile on my face, I ordered,

"Vivi, teach me the final skill of the reward."
