Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 267: An angel is born

According to ancient records of the Banes, the tree had last bloomed a thousand years ago. Most, including Voltrex, believed the tree had reached the end of its lifespan.

However, a miracle had occurred the previous year.

The withered bark, long stripped of life, suddenly regained vitality—dark cracks sealing as though time itself had reversed. In a single breath, the once-lifeless, mighty branches erupted into bloom, unfurling otherworldly golden petals that shimmered like fragments of dawn torn from the heavens.

And yes—the phenomenon occurred at the very moment Taranis was born.

In one of the wooden chambers on the branches of the tree, a suppressed, agonized cry of a woman echoed.

Outside the chamber, two beautiful female cultivators wearing pink robes adorned with white flowers stood guard.

As soon as Voltrex and his companions arrived, the duo bowed their heads with elegance.

"We are blessed by Your Majesty's safe return."

Without wasting a second, and carrying the same gracious tone, the duo gave a slight bow to the scarred-faced man and finally to Aurelion.

"Lady Lunaria wishes for you to be present beside her, Lord Aurelion."

With a frown on his face, Aurelion muttered, his voice steady, "There are physicians inside. My presence is not needed."

"B-but Lord Aurelion—"

Before the ladies could insist further, a sudden slap landed on Aurelion's back.

"Go inside," Voltrex said, his face serious.

"Your Majesty, I will be nothing but a distraction there," Aurelion protested. "Why should I do something so unnecessary?"

"You are questioning your king?" Voltrex demanded, raising an eyebrow.

The duo stared at each other for two long seconds that felt like an eternity in the suffocating air around them.

Letting out a sigh of defeat, Aurelion muttered, "I'm only following your order."

With that, Aurelion entered inside, while Voltrex and his brother let out small chuckles outside the entrance of the chamber.

"He acts like he doesn't care, but did you see that hidden smile on his face when he entered?" the scarred-faced man laughed.

"He is using my order as an excuse so Lunaria won't tease him later for ignoring her request."

The duo went to the root of the World Tree's branch, where they sat, leaning against the bark.

"That Aurelion. He even swallowed his pride and pleaded with the Flowerbanes to let Lunaria give birth here, knowing the weather of his mountain is anything but merciless. He does not show it, but he loves his wife deeply," Voltrex murmured, his hands resting behind his head.

"I'm sure he must have also requested the Flowerbanes to tell Lunaria that it was merely their goodwill to let her give birth on their mountain," the scarred-faced man replied, unable to hold back his laughter.

"Hahaha, you hit the nail on the head. But again, Lunaria is a sharp woman. She must have already deduced that much."

For the next few minutes, the duo didn't stop laughing and talking behind the back of the man who wasn't present.

Meanwhile, from the chamber, the suppressed whimpers of the woman echoed for a few more minutes before finally being replaced by the melodic cry of a newborn.

The moment the child was born, the impossible unfolded.

Everbloom Peak, whose season had remained an unchanging spring since the time recorded in the most ancient scriptures, trembled as the laws governing it shifted. From skies above the peak that had never known winter, snow began to fall, drifting gently upon warm spring winds, blanketing blossoming flowers in silent white.

"…This is no jest, is it?" Voltrex gasped, rising to his feet.

Voltrex's elder brother couldn't even let out a word, given the gravity of the absurdity they were witnessing.

Not just them—every member of the Flowerbane family residing on the World Tree came out of their chambers to witness the impossible.

The golden petals of the World Tree were slowly painted by the gentle snow, turning from gold to white.

After a few minutes, the door of the chamber slid open, and Aurelion walked out.

His hands, which had never trembled while killing countless monsters and warriors, shook as they carried his newborn wrapped in a white silk robe.

"V-Voltrex," Aurelion called.

The only times Aurelion and the scarred-faced man addressed him by name were when the three of them were not in the presence of others.

The scarred-faced man had this privilege because he was Voltrex's elder brother by blood, and Aurelion earned it by being the most loyal and protective shield of Voltrex. Their relationship had long since deepened from leader and subordinate into brothers-in-arms.

Both Voltrex and his elder brother moved toward Aurelion, whose change in demeanor was visible on his face for the first time.

"Voltrex," he called again, a faint but beautiful smile tugging at his lips, making the ladies guarding the chamber skip a heartbeat.

"Has it really happened, Aurelion?" Voltrex asked, unable to contain his excitement.

Aurelion nodded before revealing, with faintly trembling lips, "My daughter is also born with divinity."

He extended his hands, allowing Voltrex and his brother to witness the otherworldly spectacle Aurelion carried in his arms.

The child was born with snow-white hair that shimmered with an ethereal radiance, as though woven from moonlight itself. Her eyes, unlike her father's, bore a soft, creamy hue—pure and luminous—holding within them a serenity so divine that even the heavens seemed reflected in their depths.

Without wasting a second, Voltrex wrapped Aurelion in a powerful bear hug, taking utmost care that the child in his arms was not pressed between their bodies.

"Congratulations, Aurelion! Words fail me to express the happiness I am feeling right now."

"Congratulations, Aurelion! Your daughter is truly beautiful."

After both Voltrex and his brother congratulated Aurelion, Voltrex asked,

"What is the name of this little angel?"

A faint, proud smile—one that Aurelion no longer cared to hide behind his rigid exterior—appeared on his handsome face as he revealed,

"Lunaria has given her a beautiful name. From this moment forth, my daughter shall be known as Nymeria El Snowbane."
