Return of the Mythic Bloodline

Chapter 268: A light dual

After giving their congratulations to Aurelion, Voltrex and his brother decided to let him spend this occasion with his family.

The duo left Everbloom Peak, reaching Heaven's Last Step—the mountain where the Thunderbanes resided.

Unlike normal royal palaces, where the main gates were closely guarded by the finest knights of the empire, the royal gates at the peak of Heaven's Last Step were completely unguarded. The sheer prowess of Voltrex was compared to that of the gods, and nobody in their right mind would dare invade the home of the strongest man on the Western Continent.

The moment Voltrex pushed open the royal gates, a sudden flux of golden lightning fell upon him.

Just as the lightning reached a hair's breadth from his body, Voltrex moved sideways in a blur, letting it strike the floor.

"Take that!" A sharp child's voice echoed, followed by the sharp tip of a sword descending upon Voltrex.

A smirk appeared on Voltrex's face as he dodged the sword thrust without any effort.

"You need to do better than that if you want me to bring you to the frontlines, Taranis!" Voltrex announced, vanishing from his spot.

In the blink of an eye, Voltrex reappeared, his fist moving toward Taranis, who had ambushed his father from atop the royal gate.

In a desperate attempt to protect himself from the meteoric fist, Taranis moved his sword in front of his body. The fist landed against the blade with a booming sound, sending Taranis rolling across the inner hall.

Stabbing his sword into the floor, Taranis regained his footing—but then Voltrex hurled himself forward, coming crashing down at him, his hands joined into a single fist.

"Lightning Pillar!"

With a wave of his hand, Taranis summoned a thick pillar of golden lightning between himself and Voltrex, forcing Voltrex to retreat mid-air.

"I will force you to use your Soulforce this time, Father!" Taranis announced, his face laced with a smirk as he materialized a violent lance of golden lightning in his hands.

"Huh? Where has Father gone?" Taranis muttered, realizing his father was nowhere in sight.

"N-not that again…" Taranis's brows furrowed, and a chill ran down his spine as he quickly pivoted on his foot.

However, he was too late.

Before he could turn completely, a heavy kick landed on his side, sending him crashing into one of the royal chambers.

Blood gushed from Taranis's mouth as numerous uncontrolled coughs wracked his body, and he rolled on the floor in agony.

"Aaaghhh! It hurts! It hurts!" Taranis screamed, tears forming in his golden eyes.

"Did I go too far?" Voltrex murmured to himself, scratching his temple.

Just as Voltrex was about to step forward to check on Taranis, he felt a sudden killing intent erupt from the chamber beside him, sharp enough to make even him halt mid-step.

"Is that how you treat your son after meeting him in six months, my lord?" Aestra's low voice rang out as she stepped out from her chamber. Her face carried a gentle smile—one that felt more horrifying than any monster Voltrex had faced on the frontlines.

"D-dear Aestra, it's been a long time—"

Before he could finish his sentence, Aestra turned her face away in an aggressive pout and moved toward Taranis, who lay on the floor clutching his side.

She gently tapped his belly where Voltrex's kick had landed. A faint white light glowed from her touch, reducing the swelling on Taranis's side.

"M-mother… Father bullied me again," Taranis whimpered, embracing her in a tight hug.

"B-brat, you were the one who ambushed me!" Voltrex shouted, his usual composure faltering.

"Elder Brother, you tell her!" Voltrex turned toward his brother—the only witness to the light sparring between father and son.

However, upon turning, Voltrex realized his brother had already run away, sensing that a storm was about to break.

"Th-that traitor," Voltrex muttered to himself before rushing toward his wife, who was gently patting the crying Taranis in her arms while shooting death stares at Voltrex in between.

"Dear wife, it's been six months. I missed you dearly," Voltrex coaxed, extending his arms for an expected embrace.

"And the first thing you did was wound my precious Taranis," Aestra sulked, picking Taranis up in her arms and moving toward her chamber.

The sulking visage of Aestra forced Voltrex to miss a heartbeat. He felt like he fell for her all over again.

Just as Aestra was about to leave, Voltrex held her from behind, his hands wrapping around her stomach.

"Don't touch me," Aestra hissed, trying to remove Voltrex's hands from her waist but unable to put much strength into the effort.

"Please forgive your stupid husband for his mistake, dear Aestra," Voltrex murmured, gently kissing Aestra's cheeks from behind.

The sudden gesture made Aestra's breath hitch, her face blooming with a blush.

"V-Voltrex! What if someone sees us?" Aestra gasped, her eyes darting around to make sure no one was watching.

"Have you forgiven me?" Voltrex asked, refusing to release her.

"I-I…"

"Mother, forgive Father. He is really sorry," Taranis said, joining in as he wiped the tears from his eyes.

"At least listen to your son, my wife," Voltrex insisted, rubbing his cheek against Aestra's.

"Fine," Aestra sighed. "I have forgiven you, Voltrex—but don't be so brutish with Taranis again. He is only one year old."

"I understand, my Aestra," Voltrex nodded aggressively.

"Now let me go—kyaaa!"

Voltrex suddenly picked Aestra up in a bridal carry and placed Taranis on his shoulders.

"Voltrex, have some decency!" Aestra protested, but her struggles were all in vain as Voltrex carried his world in his arms toward the royal chambers, while other members of the Thunderbanes chuckled as they peeked at the family from their chambers around the large hall.

"The heavens have blessed the Hundred Sky Mountains with a beautiful angel, dear Aestra," Voltrex said, lying on his bed with Aestra in his arms.

"Angel? Lunaria is blessed with a daughter?" Aestra asked, her hand resting on Voltrex's muscular chest.

Voltrex nodded and continued, "Like Taranis, that little angel is also born with divinity. Lunaria has named her Nymeria. I am sure that angel will soar our clan to new heights."

"Nymeria… it's such a beautiful name. I also want to see her. It's been a long time since I last met Lunaria."

"I will take you to Everbloom Peak tomorrow," Voltrex said.

After a brief pause, he pulled Aestra even closer to him. "Taranis must be lonely here by himself. Let's give him a little sibling?"

Aestra's cheeks turned crimson in an instant.

Her eyes narrowed as she hissed,

"Voltrex El Thunderbane! You are being so shameless—"

Before she could complete her scolding, Voltrex's lips suddenly met hers in a desperate kiss. For a moment, she tried to pull away, but as Voltrex kissed her intensely, her body slowly gave in to the pleasure.
