'Superhumans could risk their lives to fight for their country and their people, but in the unfortunate situation that they end up dead, this madman could bring them back from the dead just to make sure they keep fighting! He is a demon!'
This was the line that Darius had shouted at the press conference and it lit such a righteous fire in the hearts of all the gathered reporters that Griselda couldn't even get a single word out! The reporters had gone into a frenzy and started asking even more scandalous questions, and that was why Juliet had to intervene in the press conference and get Griselda away from the ruthless journalists! Jason couldn't help but frown at the way things had gone. He could tell that Griselda had been handling things very well, but Darius refused to allow her to even get a word in during his questioning, and things had just gotten worse from there. Jason immediately told his Phantoms to begin following Darius and get as much dirt on him as possible. Jason didn't mind people opposing him, but he wasn't going to stand by and allow some bastard tarnish his reputation. Jason would find out everything about this bastard, and he would ruin him.
'I just hope this doesn't affect Griselda much. Juliet was there for her, but the journalists weren't pulling any punches. I'll have to talk to her when I get back and see how she's doing.'
Jason decided that he would tell Juliet to schedule a press conference for him when he gets back to Earth. That way, he could handle all this bullshit at the same time. Jason didn't really mind people talking about him online, and he wasn't even on social media, so the public's views on him weren't important. But Jason knew that leaving a situation like this without addressing it was only going to make things worse, so it was best to just address it and cut it off at the root once and for all. Besides, Jason had a family, and he wasn't going to allow any bullshit propaganda from internet trolls to affect his family.
Jason cut the conversation with his Phantom, and he was about to go back into the conversation with the system when he saw something strange flying outside his window. It was a strangely translucent three-legged bird that looked like it was made from light, and Jason saw that it was holding a scroll in its beak. Jason stood up calmly and walked over to the strange-looking bird. The bird held the scroll up to Jason, and the moment Jason took the scroll from it, the bird vanished. Jason raised a brow in surprise, but he didn't allow the shock to last long as he rolled the scroll open to take a look at its contents.
——
Eternal Greetings, Mr Jason Marc.
I have recently learned of the death of Forgo Rodge at your hands, and although I do not have any ill will towards you, it would appear that your action has created an unwanted termination to a business deal that I had struck with Forgo. In light of this situation, I would like to speak to you about this business deal, and if possible, we could reach a suitable agreement for your cooperation in completing the deal in Forgo's place. In exchange for your cooperation, I can provide you with a piece of information about your father, Richard Marc that will give you a head start in figuring out his current location – as well as all his future relocations. If you are interested, please meet me at the edge of the Flaming Forest in the Ashen Valley. I am sure you would be more than interested in hearing what I have to say.
The Eternal Wanderer, J.
——
Jason could only stare at the scroll in complete shock. What the hell was this? What were Eternal Wanderers, and how the hell did this 'J' learn that Jason's father was still missing? Jason immediately asked his system who the Eternal Wanderers were, and the system brought up a tab.
[The Eternal Wanderers are a group of interdimensional merchants who live a nomadic lifestyle. Their world, the Wandering World, is known to constantly move from one part of the Primordial Expanse to another, so they are constantly searching for their world while also providing goods or services to those that they meet along the way. The Eternal Wanderers are known to be a very trustworthy group of merchants, and they would never approach a potential customer without having something of value to present to them. Therefore, if this J claims to know the whereabouts of the user's father, there is a very high possibility that he is telling the truth.]
Jason felt a strange emotion surge through his chest once he read through the system's message. A large part of it was curiosity, but beneath all of that, Jason could also feel a bit of hope! Jason always knew that it would be hard to find his father. There hadn't been anyone who told him anything useful about his father's whereabouts all this time, and Jason had already prepared himself to really struggle before finding him. But now here was someone who had information about both where his father was right now, as well as where he would be in the coming years. It was almost too good to be true, and Jason found himself very skeptical about the whole thing! But the fact that the system told him that he could trust this Eternal Wanderer gave Jason a bit of hope! If the Eternal Wanderer was actually good for his word, then why did Jason have to hesitate to accept the deal? But all of a sudden, Jason paused as he realized something strange.
'What deal am I even accepting here?'
The message said that Jason was taking up a deal that the Sovereign had been a part of, so that meant Jason would have to do something that the Sovereign had been doing. Jason's eyes narrowed, and he immediately switched his focus to his Alternate Dimension and called on the Sovereign. Jason saw that his Legion was still training together, but the moment he called for the Sovereign, all the training stopped as the Sovereign quickly answered Jason.
'Yes, my king?'
The Sovereign looked up at Jason respectfully, and Jason told the Sovereign to tell him about the deal he had with the Eternal Wanderer. Jason held onto the hope that the deal was something small that he could accomplish. Maybe the Eternal Wanderer wanted him to kill some beast somewhere, or maybe there was someone he wanted him to find. Jason wouldn't mind doing something like that for information about his father! But once Jason heard what the Sovereign had to say, he felt all his hope evaporate into nothing. Jason put a hand to his face and sighed tiredly before a small laugh escaped from his lips.
"So that was why this bastard was trying to take over this world? How fucking stupid."
Jason couldn't believe how far the Sovereign had gone for power. The Eternal Wanderer wanted the Sovereign to find the dead body of the first dragon Rumunaga and bring it to him in exchange for an elixir that would allow him to push past his own limits, and the Sovereign had almost destroyed an entire world just because of that deal. That meant that if Jason wanted to find out the whereabouts of his father, he was going to have to take on the Sovereign's responsibility and bring the dead body of Rumunaga to the Eternal Wanderer. Something like that just wasn't possible. Not only would it ruin Jason's relationship with the dragonborn since they saw Rumunaga as a religious figure, but it would also lead to a massive battle where Jason would have to kill thousands of Dragons just to get to the gravesite of Rumunaga inside the Flaming forest. When he really thought about it, Jason just didn't think something like that was a worthwhile deal.
