Chapter 384: Has the Council Gone Mad!?

"I need to speak to Cersai. Tell him to come here."

Fredrica blinked, and then she frowned! What the hell was Jason saying right now? Did he not know who Cersai was? Cersai wasn't some low-level soldier that you could just summon whenever you wanted and have him appear in front of you! He was the head of the largest anti-invasion organization in the entire world, so he was always busy! Fredrica couldn't believe Jason thought he could summon Cersai so easily, and Fredrica found it irritating that Jason was speaking about Cersai in such a common way! Fredrica spoke up with a frown.

"Mr. Cersai is very busy at the moment. He is currently in Spain on a diplomatic mission. I'll tell him about your interest in speaking with him, and I'll let you know when he can fit you into his schedule."

Jason raised a brow at Fredrica in disbelief before he spoke calmly.

"Cersai. Our world is getting sued by the leader of our Primordial Domain."

Fredrica blinked in surprise at Jason's words, and for a moment, she thought that Jason had gone insane. What nonsense was he talking about? But there was a sudden burst of static from beside Fredrica, and she almost jumped in shock when she saw a figure teleport into the spot beside her! Cersai was dressed in an impeccable white suit, and he had a tired look in his eyes that clashed against the intense frown on his face! He was looking right at Jason, and anyone would be able to tell that he had come here straight from whatever meeting he was having just because of what Jason had said! Fredrica's mouth opened like a fish out of water, and she stammered.

"S-Sir, what are you—"

"That would be all, Fredrica. Please excuse us."

Cersai didn't even bother to give Fredrica a glance when he said this. Instead, his eyes were fixed on Jason with a serious look on his face, and Fredrica knew that this was something far larger than what she had been thinking. Fredrica didn't even bother arguing against the dismissal, and she bowed and walked away to help the other agents with rounding up the superhumans before Cersai turned to Jason seriously and spoke in a low voice.

"Please, Jason, explain what you just said. What do you mean we are being sued, and how did you meet with the leader of our Primordial Domain?"

Jason hummed in slight amusement when he saw Cersai's reaction. Jason knew that Cersai was already aware of many things about the world outside their own, but he didn't know that Cersai even knew about the Primordial Domain and that Earth was under one of the members of the Council. How the hell did Cersai know all these things? But Jason couldn't even be surprised since he knew that Cersai had been aware of the Primordial Expanse far longer than Jason even knew what magic was. Cersai probably learned about it from one of the interworld travelers that his organization caught in the past few years. But that wasn't important right now. Jason eyed Cersai's white suit, and he spoke in a perfectly even tone,

"White really isn't your color."

Gina let out a cute giggle from the side, and Cersai frowned at the horrible joke! Jason seemed to be too laid back at that moment, and Cersai told Jason to please be serious! This was a serious matter, and they needed to deal with it before things got out of hand! And also, he looked great in white, so Jason was saying nonsense! Jason scoffed at that last statement before he finally got serious and spoke.

"Our actions in Radagan seem to have violated some of the Primordial laws signed in a treaty a long time ago. We got a visit from an Emissary of the Machina that oversees our worlds, and he told us that we would have to pay for going against the law. Riyala here managed to buy us time by asking for a hearing in front of the Council of Nine and One, but we don't think it'll make much of a difference."

Cersai felt a headache coming on immediately! He knew about the Council of Nine and One! Cersai's organization had interrogated various interworld travelers who somehow got into Earth, and this was something that every single one of them had spoken about! The Council was the highest authority in the Primordial Expanse, and it was made up of powerful individuals from the strongest worlds in the Expanse! There was enough power in that Council to eradicate an entire score of worlds in one day if they wanted, and they had taken it upon themselves to create laws that would guide how the worlds around them would act and what they weren't allowed to do. And if those worlds went against their treaty, the Council had the right to act as the judge, jury, and executioners to make sure that they kept the peace.

From what Cersai learned, the Council had been formed a long time ago during a period known as the Period of Lawlessness. This period was the darkest time in their Primordial Expanse because it allowed any powerful world to invade and take control of any world that they wanted. There were many cases of weaker worlds being conquered or slaughtered, and this continued for millennia without any laws.

It wasn't until the strongest people from various powerful worlds finally came together to create a council and sign the treaty that the fighting and death stopped! So even though the Council was acting like judge, jury, and executioner, Cersai knew that they were a necessary force. Without them, Earth would have already been wiped off the map by a higher-ranked world! After hearing about the Council, Cersai thought that they would be able to just avoid any sort of interaction with them since Earth was a relatively weak world when compared with the other worlds in the Primordial Expanse, and there was no way the Council would turn their eyes to Earth and ignore all the larger worlds, but it was obvious that Jason's recent rise to power had finally shifted the Council's attention toward them. Jason was just too much of an enigma for them to ignore!

Cersai rubbed the bridge of his nose to try to get rid of the headache before he asked,

"And how much are they asking for exactly?"

Cersai knew it would be foolish for them not to consider the Council's threat as something serious, so he needed to know how much the Council was going to be extorting from them at this rate. But the amount Jason called almost made Cersai lose his mind.

"Each world is to pay five billion gold coins."

Cersai blinked and looked at Jason with a confused look on his face.

"I'm sorry, could you repeat that…? I don't think I heard you right."

Jason repeated himself,

"Each world is to pay five billion gold coins. That's ten billion in total."

Cersai was silent for a few seconds before he let out a hollow chuckle that almost made him sound insane. The laugh was low and twisted, and it even made Riyala and Gina turn away from the conversation they were having to pay attention to him from the back. Cersai suddenly turned to Jason with a furious look on his face!

"What the fuck are they talking about!? Do you even know how much money that is!?"
