Chapter 462: The Petty Apostle

Ulysis was only on this mission due to the incompetence of the remaining Apostles, and she would make sure they knew it!

"You'd best watch your tone, Ulysis. It almost sounded like you were dissatisfied with something…"

Enkidu's closed eyes slowly began to open, revealing the rainbow irises within, and Ulysis frowned as she felt everything in the area begin to shake! Ulysis' pride raged within her once she felt the obvious challenge from Enkidu, and her pride roared back in anger, but Ulysis knew that it would be counterproductive to the plans. She didn't like Enkidu, but she wasn't doing any of this for Enkidu, so it didn't matter. Ulysis leaned back on the recliner and shrugged, and Enkidu's pressure suddenly vanished like it had never been there at all. The only thing that showed what had happened were all the servants behind Ulysis who had fallen to their knees the moment they felt the intense pressure!

Ulysis spoke while examining her nails.

"Well, you can tell the court that we've found a suitable candidate from Earth. He's acquired two of the three Attributes, and he should be able to find the third one by himself."

Enkidu frowned.

"Are you sure he will find it? Nobody has seen or heard about the Third Attribute for nearly a century."

Ulysis frowned before speaking.

"That mad woman, Evon, could feel something. When we had her in custody, she constantly tried to escape towards Earth, but there were times when she would try moving in a different direction for some reason. We couldn't control her, and her madness made it impossible to ask her where she had been going. But now that someone has two of the Attributes, their connection to the third one will be a lot stronger. I'm sure he'll go after it before long."

Enkidu stayed silent for a long moment as she thought about this. Ulysis was right about the connection between the Attributes becoming stronger after you gain more than one, so Enkidu knew that there was a higher chance of finding the third one now that someone had two Attributes. Enkidu wasn't a fan of Ulysis, but she could admit that Ulysis at least knew how to get a mission done properly. This was the main reason why Enkidu overlooked a lot of the twisted things that Ulysis did. For the sake of their mission, the leader of the Court of Apostles had told them to give Ulysis the freedom to do as she liked. As long as Ulysis continued to perform properly, she could enslave as many worlds and kill as many lower lifeforms as she wanted.

"You've done well, Ulysis. I'll report back to the leader and tell him that your mission is going as planned. In the meantime, the leader has informed us to lie low since there is a Council meeting scheduled to be held soon. We don't want to draw unnecessary attention when the Council members are all gathered, so it would be appreciated if you didn't enslave any worlds for the next few months at least."

Ulysis shrugged nonchalantly at the order, and Enkidu sighed to the side before she finally looked around. A small frown grew on Enkidu's face, and she spoke with distaste.

"And if you're going to become the supreme ruler over a world, then the least you can do is add in some nature."

Rumble!

Ulysis frowned as she watched hundreds of thousands of trees rising from the ground all around the world. The trees were all of different shapes, sizes, and heights, and they formed a literal forest that beautified the land and made it look more like a paradise than a slave camp! Various trees also grew around Ulysis, and Ulysis swatted away a branch that came down and tickled her cheek before she looked up with a furious look on her face and cursed at Enkidu!

"You fucking bitch! Get rid of all this right now!"

Enkidu smiled at the beauty of nature all around her and slowly floated back into the Dimensional Tear while speaking in a cheeky tone.

"No, I don't think I will. Since you're so great and mighty, why don't you do it yourself, 'Queen Ulysis'."

Enkidu's smile turned to something mocking, and Ulysis almost burst a blood vessel! Enkidu knew that the only thing Ulysis couldn't control with her Arcane Art were living things, and by creating so many living trees, Enkidu ensured that the only way to get rid of them was to have them all chopped down one by one. It was a petty thing to do, but no one ever said Enkidu was the most mature person alive. Enkidu vanished through the Dimensional Tear behind her with that mocking smile still in place, and Ulysis cursed loudly!

"Enkidu, you fucking bitch!"

[Earth]

The days following the New Order attack on the Los Angeles Bridge passed relatively slowly for Jason and his family. After Jason's battle against Evon and his reconciliation with Janet, they returned home, and Jason immediately told their mother that the family would have to move. Obviously, Mira wasn't having any of this. The house that Mira was staying in was the first place that she and Richard had gotten together after they got married, and it was also where they had raised their entire family. The only way Mira was going to be moving out of that house was if she moved out with Richard!

For the first time in his life, Jason had gotten angry at his mother's stubbornness, and he wondered if there wasn't some way to convince her to leave. Jason was worried that this building was going to be targeted by unknown enemies since his family was already really popular on the internet. Jason was so busy dealing with enemies from other worlds that he didn't want to have to worry about his family's safety on Earth all the time as well! But after seeing that his mother was really not going to be changing her mind at all, Jason finally decided that he was just going to make sure that his mother and sisters themselves were protected.

For two days straight afterwards, Jason stayed with the family and worked on multiple defensive runes to place on everyone. The family didn't fully understand why Jason was drawing tattoos on their skin, but when Jason told them that this was the best way to make sure that they were protected, they relented and allowed him to continue doing whatever he wanted.

But Jason ran into a serious problem the first time that he tried to place a rune on his mother's body. Immediately the rune touched Mira's skin, Jason watched in shock as it simply dissolved back into ink and fell to the ground like water. Jason felt his brow furrow as he tried to place another one on her skin, but the same thing happened again, and Jason suddenly asked Azrael what could be causing it.

[I do not know, my king. But it is possible that the presence of an even more powerful defensive rune with the ability to cancel out the structural integrity of weaker runes is already present on your mother.]

Jason felt his frown deepen, and he immediately asked his mother if his father had done anything to her. Mira was a little confused when Jason asked this question, and Jason realized that Mira might not really know what he was talking about at all. Mira didn't know much about magic and runes, so Richard might have done something without ever telling her.
