The Pharynx had the ability to create new creatures from its body, and those creatures would crawl out from the ground through long tunnels and attack human civilizations! These monsters were called the Lynx, and they were the single greatest threat to human civilization on Varigan! After years of being attacked by the Lynx, the population of Varigan had been reduced from more than ten billion to only one billion people, and those one billion were forced to live in carefully crafted cities with protective domes over them that would prevent anything from destroying the civilization within!

But just like humanity, the people of Varigan were survivors, and this meant they began to search for ways to fight against the Lynx! They didn't have any magic that would allow them to use powers against the monsters, but what they had were some of the most brilliant minds to ever exist, and one of these scientists, named Hector Zen, had managed to create the giant pilotable mecha known as the Zen. The Zen were powerful fighting machines that allowed the humans of Varigan to stand toe to toe with any Lynx out there! Each Zen needed to be piloted by two people who would form a mental connection with the machine and bond with it, so most of the pilots who were chosen were young children who could form those connections more easily than adults.

The children were each separated into various squads, with 0 being the highest squad and 9 being the lowest squad, and right now, squad nine was outside the city dome on a mission to kill three Lynx that had emerged from underground! The land outside the protective dome had been ravaged by heat and sun, so it was more reasonable to call it a wilderness rather than anything else! The Zens were human-like mechas painted with different colours, and they created massive rumbles as they ran through the wilderness to reach the mission location! Inside one of the Zen were two teenagers, a boy and a girl, sitting side by side with frowns on their faces. The two teenagers had been working together for only one week now, since their previous partners were killed during a mission, and ever since they met, they had absolutely despised each other! The boy's name was Haruto, and the girl was named Rei, and everything had started when Haruto somehow ended up seeing Rei's naked body on their first day as teammates. Rei had smacked Haruto immediately, even though it was an accident, and since then, Rei had thought Haruto was a pervert, and Haruto thought of Rei as a bitch.

[Haruto, Rei, your sync is unstable. I need you two to focus on the mission. Remember, you're not going out there for a practice session... you could die if you don't focus.]

The voice came from the team handler who was riding in a large military vehicle behind the running Zens. Everyone knew that Haruto and Rei didn't like each other, and if not for their extremely high compatibility, then they would've never been made to work together like this.

"Tell Haruto to pull his weight. He keeps glancing at my breasts, so he misses every other step."

"Who the fuck is looking at your breasts, you bitch? I wouldn't want to see those flat pancakes even if you begged me to look!"

"You bastard! Don't listen to him, James, I'm still growing! I'm already a C cup!"

"A C cup of nothing!"

"Can you two keep quiet already! You're bothering the rest of us!"

Another teenager named Drax, who was piloting another Zen mecha, shouted at Haruto and Rei in annoyance, and James sighed tiredly as the three teenagers suddenly began to argue amongst themselves. James knew that this was normal for Haruto and Rei. Rei had a childish crush on James that James was never going to reciprocate, since Rei was far too young, but Rei always became very aggressive whenever Haruto insulted her body in front of James. And since Haruto was the sort of person who enjoyed getting under Rei's skin, they were always at each other's throats. James had been asking the director to find new teammates for Haruto and Rei for some time now, but the Director said that Haruto and Rei were the perfect partners due to their high affinity for each other, and the director believed that Haruto and Rei would eventually get close with time! But at this rate, James couldn't help but think that they were more likely to kill each other than to kill any Lynx.

BOOM! BOOM!

The sound of loud explosions echoed through the area, and everyone suddenly became more serious as they realised that they were close to the Lynx! Haruto and Rei got themselves back under control as they turned serious, and the other members of the ninth squad already began to prepare for a fight! But as they approached the site where they were meant to fight the Lynx, they slowly stopped and stared in shock at what they were seeing.

ROARRRR!!

BOOM!

A massive dragon unleashed a blast of fire on one of the Lynx, and a fiery explosion erupted across the region! A man carrying a long sword was riding on the back of another Lynx that was desperately trying to push him off, and everyone could only watch as the man brought his long sword down into the Lynx's head and then unleashed a blast of fire that exploded from the monster's body! A third Lynx was trying to run away in fear, but a blast of wind stopped it in its tracks, and a wind blade suddenly tore off its hind legs and stopped it from leaving! A large skeleton man wearing long robes was standing at the side, and he raised a staff in the air and formed a large magical circle over the Lynx before unleashing a blast of dark energy that slammed into the Lynx with the vengeance of a fallen god!

BOOOM!!

The ground shook, the air boiled, and the Lynx never stood a chance against such intensity! All that was left in the Lynx's place were scattered body parts and blackened ash! What the fuck was going on here!?

[Are you… seeing what I'm seeing?]

James spoke to the rest of his crew with a voice laced with disbelief, and he got back some words of affirmation from them. There were currently five military vehicles with multiple soldiers, along with four Zen mechas standing at the side uselessly, and they all could only watch the absolute carnage taking place in front of them!

A small distance away, Jason was standing with his hands in his coat pocket and watching his Legion fight. But Jason turned to look at the large Zen mechas when they arrived, and he whistled at the sheer size of them. Now those were some fucking impressive robots! No matter how powerful a man became, he would always be impressed by the sight of a giant robot! Jason watched as various military vehicles began to move closer to where he was standing, and he hummed when he noticed that the people on this world were extremely similar to the humans from Earth. If not for the fact that Jason knew they weren't Earthlings, he would've thought he was in some alternate reality. The system told Jason that this world didn't have any magic yet, but they were still powerful enough to be regarded as a Rank II world just from how advanced their technology was, but Jason knew that he didn't have to fear anything from them, and he just watched as the military vehicles stopped a few feet away from him. Once they stopped, the soldiers popped their heads out from the windows and sunroofs to get a good look at Jason, and the vehicle leading the others opened up, and two men came down before they made way for another woman to climb out.
