Chapter 524: A Ray of Hope

Hayley couldn't believe that Gina was just throwing her relationship in her face like this! Everyone in the army knew that relationships were a very sore spot for Hayley because even with her extraordinary looks and her captivating personality, it was still extremely difficult for Hayley to find herself a steady boyfriend! The main reasons for this was because the people Hayley liked just never seemed to like her back, and it was only those who were drooling over her that chased after her unconditionally! And the mere thought of getting married was so far outside of Hayley's reality that she doesn't even dream about it anymore! So right now, Gina's words had perfectly stabbed into the raw wound that was Hayley's lack of a love life, and Hayley felt righteous anger boiling beneath her skin! Hayley felt like she was going to fucking kill somebody!

The handler of the ninth squad, James, noticed what was going on, and he decided that it was about time for him to intervene! James stepped forward and put a hand on Hayley's shoulder, and she turned to him with an intense glare! But the moment she saw the calm look in his eyes, she felt her own anger bleeding away, and she closed her eyes and let out a small sigh to calm down. While she was calming down, James turned to the couple opposite them and spoke respectfully.

"We apologise for what happened, we didn't mean any disrespect. We just wanted to get to know you better since it doesn't look like you are from around here. Did you come from a different region? Maybe the Null Zone on the Eastern continent?"

The Null Zone was an area in Varigan that was completely inhospitable to humans. The area had been completely overrun by Lynx and other forms of monsters, but there were also rumors that there were humans who had managed to make that place their home, and these humans all possessed strange and dangerous powers that allowed them to fight against the horde of Lynx inhabiting that region. James wouldn't be surprised if these two people were from there as well! But the look of confusion that Jason gave him after hearing about the 'Null Zone' told James that Jason had never even heard about such a place before. James asked Jason again to please tell them where they were from, and Jason shrugged, and his next words shocked everyone to the core!

"We're from another world."

James blinked and looked back at Hayley in shock, and he saw that even Hayley looked like she had just heard something unbelievable. Hayley stepped forward, and she ignored Gina's vicious glare as she spoke as calmly as possible.

"When you say another world, what exactly do you mean?"

Gina rolled her eyes and spoke in an irritated tone.

"What else would it mean? We're not from this world. We were just making our way through your world when we ran into these things and decided to kill them. We really don't have time to deal with you, so you just have to take our word for it. Now get out of our way."

This was just too shocking for the humans of Varigan to accept! The soldiers were looking at each other in confusion while wondering whether the couple was telling the truth or not! It didn't look like anyone was lying, but their words were just so outlandish, so it was difficult to believe them at all! Hayley finally stepped forward and spoke in a tone that was as welcoming as possible.

"First, I would like to apologise for my actions. I didn't know you two were in a relationship, and I overstepped my bounds. Please forgive me. Secondly, if it is not too much trouble, I would really appreciate it if you came back to the Artemis Settlement with us. My father, Hector Zen, is the most brilliant mind in the world, as well as the creator of the Zen robots that you can see behind me. He would love to have a conversation with you regarding your claims."

Everything changed the moment Hayley heard that these people weren't from their world! Hayley didn't know if they were lying or not, but from the way they looked, acted, and the amount of power that they possessed, Hayley could tell that it was more likely that they were telling the truth than lying! This could change everything! The humans of Varigan had suffered from the Pharynx's evil for a very long time, and they all knew that they were sitting on a ticking time bomb of a planet that would give up on them at any moment! But if there were other worlds out there that they could migrate to, then wasn't that the best thing to do! They needed to learn everything they could about these other worlds from this couple, so they could come up with plans on how to move worlds!

But Hayley felt all her hopes and dreams dying out when Jason waved his hand to tell her that he wasn't interested. Gina had already turned away from Hayley in disinterest the moment she heard the apology, and Jason spoke in a tone that was calm, but also dismissive.

"Sorry, but we really don't have any time for conversations right now. Maybe we can come back some other time to talk, but we're pretty busy now."

Hayley's face squeezed in sheer desperation as she heard this! She really didn't want these people to leave! This was the first ray of hope that her people had seen in decades, and she knew that if they allowed it to slip through their fingers, it would be nearly impossible for them to find another chance! But was there anything they could do against people like these? Hayley looked over at the monsters standing behind the couple obediently, and she could sense insane power flowing off them even though they weren't doing anything! Hayley knew that if she tried to force the couple to come with them, then things would turn hostile, and there was an extremely high chance that everyone here would lose their lives!

'We can't afford to get on their bad side. We need them far more than they need us. I'll just have to hope that we can convince them somehow.'

Hayley's hands squeezed, and she put on a small smile as she spoke to Jason and Gina.

"Then, please allow us to escort you to wherever you are heading. We're the best navigators in these parts, so moving with us will allow you to reach your destination quicker."

Jason hummed as he looked down at Gina curiously. Gina had a pout on her face as she narrowed her eyes at Haylay, and Jaosn smiled before he put a hand over Gina's head to tell her to calm down. Gina wasn't happy about how Hayley had acted, but that doesn't mean they should ignore the offer. They had been travelling alone for close to two weeks now, so maybe it would be nice to talk to new people until they got to the next dimensional tear. Jason spoke to Hayley.

"We're heading to the east side of the Giverna Valley. Can you get us there quickly?"

Hayley's eyes widened, and she nodded with a smile. The Giverna Valley was an area that they used for training their new recruits multiple times, so Hayley knew it like the back of her hand! Hayley offered to carry Jason and Gina in one of the military vehicles, and Jason smiled in thanks as he went towards the vehicle with Gina.
