The whole carven was erupting into motion.
There was no sound, no mana, just movements.
It was blinding, immediate, merciless.
Adam's blade was flashing sideways.
Soren's dagger, it was thin and curved, black as midnight—met Adam's blade as such a speed that the air cracked like shattered glass.
CLANG—CRRRT—
Even after blocking the strike, Adam felt a bit.
It was a sting across his ribs, but got negated by his armor.
It was a cut he hadn't noticed yet.
Both his and Soren's eyes narrowed.
Adam because the strike wasn't perceived by his senses.
Soren because he didn't feel like his blade cut flesh.
"...Seems like he increased his speed a bit more, he must be taking this seriously."
Soren would tilt his head slightly, he was like a machine running calculations behind a mask.
"Hm, your defense is impressive," he said simply. "But it'll soon crack."
He speed forward—
And the he vanished.
Adam moved and swept his sword behind him—
CLANG!
There was a deafening explosion of force that blasted outward.
Dust, bone fragments, and even the ancient stone shot into the air.
Adam would skid back, his boots digging deep grooves through the ground.
Adam also skidded backwards, he then stood there in his new position, blade raised.
"Good reaction time, and outstanding display of strength. Soren murmured. "This is a notable improvement since your academy records."
Adam's eyes narrowed.
"Oh? Are your a pedo or something? Having fun looking at naked students?"
Soren didn't flinch.
"Provocation has Ben detected. Effect: null."
THUD.
The ground started to shudder.
THUD.
Another chain was snapped free.
Dak light was bleeding from the widening fractures.
More whispers started to ooze through the cracks.
"—Were... almost... free—"
"—Were... almost... awake—"
Adam didn't dare to look back.
If he did, Soren would take the chance to strike an attack.
He needed to finish this fight fast.
Soren moved in a blur again.
But this time Adam was prepared, his senses have already been heightened, he followed his movements through the shifts of the air pressure.
He's been limiting his strength in this fight to hone his battle instincts.
One shouldn't be overly too reliant on skills and stats in battle.
Because once those wee taken he'd remain defenseless.
(left—)
Adam then pivoted.
CLANG!
Soren's figure appeared behind him.
(close—)
Adam's body twisted.
CRRRNG!
Soren's foot would snap out—
Adam blocked it with his elbow, a grin was seen on his face when he felt the impact.
Soren's movements weren't that of a human.
They all followed a certain algorithm.
They were too calculated.
They were timed too perfectly.
He wasn't fighting from honed instincts.
He was fighting with cold calculated precision.
He was predicting Adam's movements as if he knew how he would act.
The strikes he made aimed at arteries, joints or even vitals.
All of them were perfect, had lethal efficiency.
"You have an insurance growth rate," Soren said as their weapons sparked.
"But, it's still below the threshold for surviving this encounter."
Adam slid back, a smirk was displayed on his face.
"You're talking too much, you should change you alias to the 'Talking-Class Assassin' instead."
Soren's figure disappeared.
"No," his voice whispered. "I calculate."
Soren's figure appeared right in front of him—
Adam raised his blade—
That was a feint.
Soren vanished once more—
A dagger was sliced through Adam's spine—
CLANG!
It was blocked by the armor, but Soren saw this coming.
He knew the armor was way too durable, and breaking it wouldn't be easy.
He wondered where he got his equipment since his sword wasn't normal either.
Another dagger was slashed upward—
Adam moved his sword to counter it—
Soren pushed through it—
Then—
Three simultaneous slashes were performed, all stuck at Adam's side, shoulder, and thigh.
Adam pretended to feel the pain, he hissed and stepped back.
Through this exchange he noticed something m, he was reading every move he made.
His space affinity was already being analyzed and countered fore.
His ice affinity was being shattered like glass.
Adam's eyes narrowed.
"Well, this is getting irritating."
Soren's mask was reflecting the dim light.
"This is not irritation.
"This is something that is inevitable."
He pointed his dagger straight at Adam.
"This is the fate you've been assigned to. You'll die here."
BOOOOOM!
A pulse of energy was bursting through the cracked coffin, it was shaking the entire carven like a mountain that's collapsing.
Adam's seal started to fracture—
Eight of the the nine locks were shattered outright.
And one one seal now remained.
The final lock—
The one that's preventing the calamity from awakening.
Soren paused slightly, his eyes shifted.
"...The Seal is almost broken."
Adam looked at him with intrigue.
Soren turned back towards Adam, his voice was colder than before.
"I do not care about the cult's goals. I have only one mission."
He raised his dagger.
"That is to kill you."
Adam clicked his tongue in annoyance.
"Guess I'm way to famous to let go huh?"
He tightened his grip around his sword, sword started to warp around his body.
"If you want me to die that badly..."
He the lowered his stance—
His feet sliding, his mana surged, and space distorted.
For one final act, he dispelled his armor so Soren wouldn't notice.
"You should come and earn it then."
Soren was the first one who vanished first.
Adam vanished only a heartbeat after.
Their clash was destinating like thunder.
The stone pillars were shattering.
Ice was getting obliterated.
The shockwaves were rippling so hard, that even the carven ceiling was cracking open even further.
Adam's world was blurring into streaks of steel and killing intent.
Soren was moving like a phantom.
Adam was moving like a storm.
Steel was meeting steel in flashes of light.
Both of them bled.
Both of them was pushing themselves far beyond their limits.
The coffin was pulsing behind them—
The chains were snapping like screams.
"—Free... me—"
"—Heir of the Primordial...—"
"—Release us... gain power—"
But neither man looked back.
Both of them knew that the next ten seconds would decided everything.
Ten seconds—
Before the coffin fully awakens.
Ten seconds—
One of them must die and the seal must be reinforced.
The carven was trembling.
Adam's hair was flicking upward as his aura was exploding to life.
Soren's mask started to glint.
And their final exchange started.
Soren moved first like lightning.
Adam followed shortly after.
Dagger was raised and was dripping with poison.
Sword was also raised pulsing with ice and spatial energy.
WHOOSH!
The world was silent, even the whispers fell.
A deep gush was seen on Soren's chest and blood was dripping out.
Adam on the other hand fell this his knees clutching his neck, poison sinking into his veins as he turned pale.
A thin line was draw across his neck and he felt down slumped and lifeless.
Soren's chest had layers of frost that refused to thaw out, his voice was ragged.
He moved towards Adam and muttered:
"Mission Completed: Target has been killed. Report back to his highness the second prince and the Dragonis Duchess."
All of this happened in just 5 seconds, but before he could decapitate Adam's head and proceed with the sealing a voice rang out.
"Oh so it's those bitches who wanted me dead, figures."
