Unliving-Living

Chapter 55: The Federation Meeting(fishing in the dark with no equipment in the desert)...

Saquin shifted slightly in his seat, it was really hard to hold the smirk in.

But he soldiered on.

"I do find the whole matter to be quite sad though. If those three had not engaged in so much internal fighting, the Abomination would not be walking around right now. He started the sentence with a normal tone, but his voice gained a dangerous edge towards the end.

"Hmm." The blonde lady contemplated on how to present her question. "Do you have any leads on this Abomination figure?"

"I of course do not. If I did, I won't be so idle as to be clearing an Access." Saquin rolled his eyes.

"What you are really doing here is trying to see if my words are believable. Well, you would just have to take my word for it." Saquin shrugged nonchalantly.

He successfully put on the look of someone who could not care less about what they think.

"But just your word is not sufficient." The blonde lady put on her authoritative voice. "If what you are saying is true, then a dangerous entity has been released into the galaxy. The precautions that would be taken are both taxing and expensive, do not play games and tell us. Truly."

"Ah... you are a non believer, woman." Saquin shook his head. "Who hurt you?"

After receiving no answers from her, he turned towards the young man, "who hurt her?"

"Mr. Saquin." The blonde lady called him to order.

As if on instinct.

"Ewwww."

Saquin retched.

"Oh, I see. You are more used to being called His Eminence." The blonde lady signed as she shook her head.

"Just Saquin is fine too." Saquin recomposed himself and said.

"But you can feel free to call me Divine Saquin. I mean the System refers to me as such, but who really cares what a universal entity has to say on matters like these." He added.

"Yea, I do not think I would ever wish to physically be in the same room as you, Mr... I mean Divine Saquin." The blonde lady smiled gracefully, putting centuries of experience into use to display this level of patience.

"But, Divine Saquin, I still do not understand a point." She said afterwards.

"What point?" Saquin raised a brow.

"Since you did not fulfill the hidden condition, how did you achieve the Pinnacle level at a go?" She asked.

"Are you assuming I was a Pinnacle level when I cleared the Access?" Saquin replied with a question of his own.

"Were you not?" The lady slightly stiffened but recovered just as quickly to counter.

"Oh, I was."

Saquin shrugged.

"I was just trying to say making assumptions is bad."

"I see." The blonde lady nodded.

"Yep. Okay, if you understand that, then you should stop acting like you know about the details of a Super Divine Trial." Saquin pointed out with no apparent respect.

He sat up slightly. "I mean you have no idea what the main event was. No idea what environment was used for the Trial. The difficulty, and the possibilities. Yet you want to try and quantify the rewards?"

The room went into silence as Saquin stared at the four holograms with quiet disdain in his gaze.

The Federation's officials could read the emotion behind those eyes even through the hologram.

He was looking at them like they were not of the same fundamental level. Like he was a 3d character and they were 2d doodles.

It was magnificent how a fellow human could hold such an emotion in them.

Actually, it was even crazier than they thought it would be, after all Saquin was completely acting it out.

"Ah. This meeting is going nowhere." The blonde lady finally broke the silence with a sign.

Saquin did not reply and only rolled his eyes. Essentially, he was saying: duh, could it be more obvious?

"Young Eminence Saquin." She called him.

Saquin blinked in surprise. "Eminence?"

"Yes, Eminence." She nodded. Then, "let me introduce myself, my name is Nathasa. A Grand Senar Master of the Federation and also the de facto head of the youth department of this little sector."

"Nice to meet you Nathasa." Saquin greeted, his body language passing the message: what the hell does introduction achieve at this point of the meeting?

"Nice to meet you too, Young Eminence Saquin." Nathasa replied the sarcastic greeting politely. "Now, do you want to hear what I think about this matter?"

"I guess." Saquin indifferently shrugged.

Then.

Nathasa dropped the piece of her mind.

"You are the Abomination."

A pause.

Then, extended silence.

The four holograms were intently staring at Saquin to gleam even the slightest reaction.

While Saquin was indifferently staring at Nathasa as if waiting for her to continue her charade.

"You do not argue the fact?" She asked to break the silence.

"Ermmm. I guess it is because I am still waiting for the fact." Saquin shrugged.

"I see." Nathasa nodded as if she expected as much.

She placed a smile on her face as she got to work.

"Let me break it down for you."

Then she started.

"You see, from the onset, I truly never believed you were the Greader's killer. Even after you listed the names, I just still could not believe it."

She shook her head.

"Not until you mentioned the Abomination."

Her smile widened a bit.

"Granted, I do not know its meaning. But if we go by your definition, which would most likely be correct due to circumstances, it just clicks things together."

She leaned back into her seat.

"You know, since the beginning of the meeting after you gracefully admitted to killing a beloved prince of an Empire, I had been trying to deduce what your aim was."

She paused.

"This is not my first time dealing with Divines. You lot always have something going on, something is always cooking up in that blessed head of yours. No matter what you guys do, even to the minute details, it is geared towards a specific aim."

She shook off the thoughts of the past creeping up her mind.

"You guys are always planning something. So, I just had to figure out what you were up to, and it became clearer it was not arrogance when you admitted to killing a beloved heir of another empire."

She signed.

"No one in their right mind would do such a thing. Especially for someone as smart as you. During this train of thought is when you mentioned the word Abomination, and slowly it became clear."

She stared hard at Saquin.

"For a fact, you did kill them. In fact the story may have gone just as you narrated it, expected for the fact that you were in fact the Abomination. It is the only reason that can warrant you willingly taking the heat of two huge empires. If it successfully diverts attention from your status, it is a win on your path."

She paused to reorganize her thoughts.

"But of course, this begs the question, why would you go that far in the first place. No one should ever be able to figure out what you are if your mouth remains shut. But that has an easy answer, your backing is truly that strong."

Nathan's smile was turning into a smirk as she broke it all down.

"Your backing had discovered the highly sealed information that the Rimfrar family had invited the Golden All-Seer to divine Greader's cause of death. So, it is to stand to reason that in the course of his divination, the word Abomination might pop up. So, if you led us astray now, and the word popped out later, we would inevitably stoop to you to lead the charge for this person that was actually you."

She heaved a sign.

"It truly is a great plan. You Divines are out of this world when it comes to intelligence."

Locking gaze with Saquin, she said.

"But it is a stupid idea to play such games with an old hag as I. I have seen and played hundreds upon hundreds of psychological warfare through my lifetime, developing an intelligence relative to yours is but expected."

"Then, there is my spirit that has been honed through years. I have, through time, developed a proper seventh sense for situations such as this. Fishing you out is guaranteed."

"You are still too young to mess with me."

She sneered.

"Welcome to the Empowered world."

She finished as she completely leaned into her seat.

"Are you done?" Saquin's indifferent voice.

"If so, I would just like to say, it was a great analogy and all. But, your whole argument had three holes that completely nullified your facts."

Saquin signed as if disappointed.

"First, let's talk about the fact that this whole argument only works if, and only if, I am scared of the Federation." Saquin started. "But that is just a dumb thing to think."

"I am a Divine." Saquin's voice had an edge of finality in it. "I fear nothing. Not even other Divines."

"With just the first fact your argument is close to baseless. But the second hole even made it worse."

Saquin leaned forward abruptly, there was a hint of anger in his expression.

"You compared your intelligence with mine."

Saquin scoffed.

"Comparing your intelligence with a Divine is the height of the lack thereof. Cause at the end of the day, in terms of intelligence, I can run laps around you that would make the most accomplished athlete in the whole universe quit out of shame."

Saquin stood up and faced the hologram.

"Then, you had to end it all with the last hole. Your seventh sense? I do not know how many times this has to be said, I am a Divine!"

Saquin almost choked in disappointment.

"Fish me out with your senses? That would be no different from fishing in the dark with no equipment, in the middle of the desert, on a dead planet."

Saquin leaned in even closer.

"Yes, I am up to something. But you can stop looking, you will never find it..."

Then he asked.

"You know why?"

He sat down back.

His posture was that of a king who just won a battle.

"Because..."

He smirked as he started slowly.

"I. Am. A. Divine."
