Sensing the incoming presence the two companions briefly glanced at each other, then down at their unconscious friends. A slightly annoyed frown appeared on Luna's face as she spoke.
"Well that's not at all good timing is it?"
"I did want to test out my new strength, so it could be worse." Replied Violet with some excitement in her voice.
Shacking her head with a slightly bemused expression on her face Luna chuckled lightly. "I cannt argue with that, I would like to the chance to test out how to fight as a beast… but I don't think this is the right time to test that out." Letting out a forlorn sigh Luna shrugged, then a vicious smile split her lips. "Shall we go and greet our uninvited guest?"
With a matching smile on her own face Violet nodded vigorously. "I think we should yes." Then glancing once more at their unconscious friends, her smile dimmed a little. "They should be fine to be left alone for a bit. Let's go deal with this then return quickly."
With a nod of her own Luna strode out of their campsite and into the gentle downpour.
Violet followed right behind her, not in any rush to get into position. Whilst they were still new to utilising their presences they did still hold an instinctive understanding of its properties. One of these features was the ability to feel the general location of anything that was within their domain, or in other words was within their presence. Of course if a being was able to hide their own presence then it might be quite the challenge, but this incoming Champion did not seem to care about hiding its presence.
Instead it was blasting it out at full force, clearly wanting to attract their attention. It was steadily approaching them from the South, at its current pace it would be near them soon but it would take long enough for them to get into position outside of their camp.
Once outside Violet dismissed her dress and instantly began to transform back into her newly enlarged dragon form. A violet light emanated from her figure, her outline blurring as she rapidly transformed, her body swelled, neck elongated, tail lengthened and her wings grew in size. In a matter of seconds a 10 meter long violet and onyx dragon stood in her place.
Her massive body radiated a sense of power and magic, her horns capped with violet shone with the radiance of pure nothingness.
As the approaching beast lord finally came into view the two companions tensed. Out from behind one of the giant trees walked a peculiar beast.
It was clearly not one of the powerful aquatic beasts that seemed so dominant in this region, yet that did not reassure them. Instead what emerged was a creature that they had never seen before.
It stood on 4 legs that ended in cloven hoofs, its fur was silvery grey in colour, a tail jutted out from its rear, short and stubby. Its head was somewhat similar to a deer yet more angular with a sharper chin tipped in a tuft of its silver fur. Curved and ribbed horns grew from its head, they were thick and sturdy with countless scratches covering them, hinting at their extensive use in battles.
Its eyes were what confused them the most however. Instead of having regular rounded eyes, or the split pupils of felines. It instead held a horizontal square pupil, a ominous red glow emanated from the depths of its infernal eyes. Crimson flames licked at the base of its cloven hooves as well as along its horns.
The beast was quite large aswell, easily exceeding Luna's size in her beast form. It did not fully match the size of Violet, yet its thick corded muscles demonstrated its power.
As its infernal eyes met the two girls a gleam of malice grew within them, clearly not viewing the two companions as a true threat. Still it did not lower its guard, clearly intelligent enough to not take any fight lightly.
As the two sides stared at each other the infernal goat let loose a harrowing bleet that rattled their very souls.
Its presence amplified and tried to overwhelm the two newly evolved beings.
However, instead of buckling under its immense pressure as the beast clearly thought that they would, its presence was held at bay. Violet and Luna then unleashed their own presences, each one entwining with the other, their combined auras splitting the other.
Then Violet let loose her own challenge at the opposing beast. She raised her head and roared her challenge to the world, her draconic aura swelling and slamming into the goats own presence. Luna's own presence being amplified alongside her own. Together they managed to push back the goats area of control, yet even together they could only match the power of the infernal goat.
The beast before them clearly more powerful than either one of them individually. Yet together… together they held out.
The two sides remained locked in this invisible battle for endless seconds, the delineation of their areas of control turning into a battlefield of wills. Neither side willing to be the one to capitulate this opening move.
With no clear victor from the initial assessing clash the battle was now destined to become much more physical.
Before that could happen though Violet decided to try and speak to this being, she rarely tried to initiate contact with other beasts, yet this one was clearly intelligent, so she had a slight hope that she may be able to actually converse with it in some form.
So she extended a mental bridge towards the goat, only to mentally recoil from the contact. It felt like her bridge was burned with infernal flames, a broiling fury being the only thing she gleaned from the brief contact with the beasts mind.
Still it was not like Violet had expected to be able to properly communicate with the beast. And even if she had, she was quite sure that they would end up fighting regardless.
After all they were all Champion beasts, they were destined to do battle in the end. With both sides unwilling to back down from said battle.
So with words being unable to be said, and the initial clash already at a stalemate, the two sides tensed up and readied themselves for the inevitable clash.
Spears of void began to form around Violet, their size having increased to match her new enlarged form.
A wicked glaive of ice formed in Luna's outstretched hands, its edge freezing the raindrops that got too close to it.
Finally balls of fire formed around the goat, its horns also erupting in a deep crimson flame. The flames hot enough to turn the rain to steam, branding the infernal goat a shifting mantle of boiling fog.
Then by an unspoken agreement the void spears and flame balls shot forth. The goat charging for them a moment later, Luna too dashed forward, her form shimmering into 2 separate illusions each one flanking her as she dove forwards to meet her foe head on.
