With Violet's proclamation she smoothly donned a simple purple dress, it held few details, yet still somehow perfectly adjusted to her figure. The most notable change was the strange excitement that flickered in her eyes at the prospect of being able to have Luna suffer through the ordeal of being a walking test dummy for the various outfits contained within her storage ring.
However, much to Violet's immediate disappointment, Luna actually seemed quite excited at the prospect. Seeing her companion so excited at the prospect of trying on innumerable outfits instantly sapped some of her excitement for 'subjecting' Luna to the impromptu fashion show.
Still now that Violet had announced it, she saw no way of backing out.
So that was how the next hour was spent.
By the end of it Violet had learnt a couple of important lessons. First, Luna apparently had a preference for clothing with blue and white tones, and held a desire for the items to hold a violet trim. That last desire did limit the selection quite a bit, much to Violet's relief.
Secondly, Violet learnt that whilst Lina didn't exactly dislike wearing dresses she much preferred to wear a simple tunic with pants, she also no longer desired to wear any footwear as opposed to before. Violet believed that to be her newly discovered beast nature showing through.
Finally, Violet reaffirmed her distaste for choosing outfits. She promptly swore to never again try to pull such a trick again.
In the end Luna selected several outfits that she liked, each one being gifted to her by a mildly depressed dragon after enduring the onslaught of fashion discussions. If Violet had a choice she would prefer to try and fight a dozen beast kings than go through that again.
But now that everyone was properly dressed once more the group began to discuss their next steps.
"So is there anything else you two want to do in this region or shall we aim to reach the mountains next? We still have quite a distance to travel before we reach it."
At Rhyana's words both freshly evolved girls took a moment to think, Luna was the one who spoke up first. "Would it not be worth getting you both to level 80 too? You cannt be all too far away from reaching that point can you? The strength bonus from reaching the 4th tier is no joke."
And it truly wasn't, Luna felt as though she could easily fight off two of her pre level 80 selves with her current strength. That was before she had even gotten used to her newfound strength, once acclimatised to her new power she was sure that even 2 pre evolved Luna's wouldn't pose much of a problem to her.
Both Rhyana and Susan took a moment to think, the blue dragon seemed surprisingly uneasy at the prospect, Susan however… "I-I think we should go for it, we will need all the strength that we can get." She then hesitated for a moment, clearly thinking through how to say what she was thinking about.
Soon enough though Susan continued with a slightly subdued tone. "As we are right now we would be nothing but a burden on you two, I don't want to be a burden. I want to be strong, strong enough to fight for what I want, strong enough to not be taken advantage of again." Determination burned in her normally unassuming eyes.
This determination seemed to catch Rhyana off guard as her eyes widened upon hearing the determination, and hint of long subdued pain in her friends voice. Hearing that subdued pain caused something to snap within the dragon. She had long kept a barrier between herself and Susan, thinking that she was content with their friendship. They both relied on each other but their was always a level of disconnect between the two.
Well it might be more accurate to say that the disconnect was solely on Rhyana's side, Susan seemed to have long ago given up any reservations she may have had about her current situation. Now the only thing holding them back from deepening their bond was herself.
As she felt that final resistance break inside her upon hearing her friends pain she finally knew what she needed to do.
With a slow, controlled exhale Rhyana moved her head so that she was looking straight into Susan's eyes. "Then let's get stronger… together." And with that said something burgeoned between the two.
Violet and Luna watched the interaction with both excitement and awe. Ephemeral yet powerful bands of magic slowly rose from Rhyana's chest, the electric blue stream crossing the short distance to gently touch Susan's own chest. Neither of the girls seemed to notice the happenings as their gazes remained locked on each other.
A ocean blue ribbon of magic emerged from Susan's chest to meet with Rhyana's, the two streams of magic began to intertwine in increasing complex patterns. Interlocking and binding together, forever intertwining their fates.
Whilst neither violet or Luna had seen something like this happening before, they instinctively knew what was happening. For they had something very similar happen to them both. Albeit, neither of them was awake to watch it happen before.
The two were forming a bond of companionship. Binding themselves together in a tradition as old as time. Something that could only happen when each individual utterly trusted their companion.
As the bands of magic further entwined together, they eventually seemed to snap into place. Forming a pattern that spoke of their very core values and personages.
Then in an instant the magics faded, both girls collapsing to the ground as the new bond was forged into their very souls.
The two freshly evolved beasts watched all of that happen with fascination. It was not every day that one was able to witness such an event happening.
Yet sadly they were not able to stay idle for long. For as they watched the two unconscious girls they felt something approach.
Their presences had slipped out unconsciously in the time after they first reigned them in. They had learnt how to exclude individuals from being effected by it, which was why both Rhyana and Susan were not effected by the invisable pressure.
Yet their presences were expanded, and they had just felt something intrude on their domain. Something powerful, something, or someone with a presence that matched their combined power. And with a flavour to their presence that was instantly recognised by both companions.
For it was something that they had encountered several times by now, Violet having encountered and defeated four such beings, Luna having encountered three but only fought two. It was something that had marked Violet ever since her birth, and something that always signaled a strong existence.
For how could a creature marked as a Champion Beast be considered weak.
