Adventures of the last Wild Dragon

Chapter 151: City Clash (4)

Back in the city centre the monster ants were faltering under the relentless onslaught of Violet, Luna, Rhyana and Susan. Now that the Storm Touched had seemingly teamed up with them the one sided assult only grew more imballenced in favour of our companions.

No quarter was given to the ants, they were surrounded on nearly all sides. The wolves to their east, the beasts to the south and Luna to the west. Then their was Violet who was still deep in the center of their dwindling mass.

Beams, bolts and spears of void mana could be seen flashing through the hord. Everywhere that they struck twisted chitin would be sliced and punctured. Violet moved like the deadly predator that she was, her every movement spelling death for the monsters that surrounded her. Still she was taking damage, whilst her coat of void did mitigate a considerable amount of this damage, it was not infallible.

Violet's red blood now dripped down her violet scales, mixing with the black icor that coated her from the various monsters she had slain.

"You need to get out of their! Come join me on this side, I could do with the help!" Luna's voice echoed in Violet's head, the worry that she felt for her companions wellbeing standing out clearly to the dragon. Even in her battle state it was nearly impossible for her not to trust her companion, so knowing that it was probably a good idea to do as requested Violet blinked out of existence to appear besides Luna but a moment later.

"I'm here, let's clean up these ants before anything else decides to join in on the fight!"

As so the two worked together, the two 4th tier beasts standing side by side. A violet and onyx dragon, standing besides a white and blue giant leopard.

The ground around Luna was slick with ice, yet it never hindered her movement. The ice in fact aided its master, forming ledges for her to leap from, creating barriers to block the lashing tentacles and biting mandibles of the monster ants.

But that was only the start, for its true strength was in offence. The legs of the ants would become stuck in place, spears of ice would pierce upwards to impale any unlucky ant that was in their way. The biting chill that was being emanated from Luna's domain slowed down all who entered it, allowing Luna all the leeway that she could need to avoid the slowed ants retaliations.

At the same time her twin illusions worked to confuse her foes, constantly switching place with her true form and never allowing the ants to know where she truly was. It was a mesmerising dance of death that was as beautiful as it was deadly.

Violet who had opted to take a step back from the front lines to focus on her magics couldn't help but find her gaze drawn to her companion. The grave she displayed igniting a burning passion within the young dragon, seeing Luna dance on the precept of danger as she did, yet never allowing herself to fall over its edge was a sight that the dragon knew would forever be seared into her memory.

Like this the two beast lords laid waste to the now devastated hord of ants, not letting up until the last of them had fallen, never to rise again.

An early silence settled over the battlefield, only broken by the laboured breathing of the beasts that still remained standing.

It was in that silence that Violet felt the gaze of the 5 beast lords settle onto her, turning to face them once more her own gaze burned in intensity as she stared down at the, to her, cowardly beast lords that were to afraid to even enter the battle.

She snorted in derision, clearly finding their strength severely lacking. Even from this distance she could tell that the beast lords were weak.

Sure compared to the regular 3rd tier beasts that had participated in this battle they may be strong. But their strength felt fragile and faded, clearly these beasts had not been forced to have a true battle in a long time. It made sense then to Violet why their domains had fallen so easily to this outside invasion.

Still, Violet knew that she would need to work with these lords if she had any chance of surviving her inevitable battle with the corrupted lord that she could still feel heading their way. So, with some reluctance she knew that she would have to engage with them.

But before that she made sure to check on her party members, and to check over the notifications that were still blinking in her vision. With a thought she pulled them up as she made her way over to Luna.

Violet smiled at that, she hadn't expected to get two whole levels from that fight. Especially considering that every single one of them was below her in levels, still, she would not turn that down at all. Violet also noted that her multicast skill had also now reached its max level! Although she dearly wanted to upgrade it now, she knew that it was not the right time to go through that upgrade.

When she reached Luna she nuzzled her head against her companions, the two of them sharing a quiet moment as they both took comfort in each others quiet company. Saddly however, their moment was not dated to last for long.

The sound of footsteps approaching them could be heard, and she noticed that Rhyana and Susan had landed not too far away. The two were looking behind Violet at the approaching figures, ones Violet was not exactly too thrilled to interact with. Still she turned around after one last nuzzle with Luna to face the 5 beast lords that had finally gathered the courage to approach her.

The 5 beasts were all of different races, and all seemed to be not too far above Violet in levels, with the Earth wyrm that led the group clearly being the strongest of the group. Still, even though they might be higher level than Violet she felt like both she and Luna stood a good chance to beat all 5 of them if they worked together. Not that it would be an easy fight, but winnable nonetheless.

Still before Violet could extend a mind link to the group she noticed movement all around her. She instantly readied herself for a fight as she swept her gaze around.

Violet instantly noted that the entire central area where their battle had taken place was now entirely surrounded by Storm Touched beasts. Wolves being the predominant type, but other canines were also present.

Violet then felt the presence of a powerful beast, she turned her head and met the gaze of a giant 2 headed dog. It's fur was a mix of blue and white, one head entirely blue, whilst the other had white fur. Storm clouds seemed to exist within its beastial eyes that glittered with clear intelligence. It stood almost 5 meters tall and 7 long, exceeding violets own size if you discounted her tail.

Violet sensed the power of this beast and was instantly weary. Unlike the 5 beast lords near her, this lord was truly powerful. To the point that Violet was unsure if both her and Luna, along with the other 5 beast lords even stood a chance against this canine.

An even deeper silence overtook the central domain, the two headed lord splitting its attention equally between both Violet and Luna. It clearly knowing that the two companions were the strongest beast present apart from itself. As the two parties stared at each other a bestial grin seemed to split the canines face.
