With Violet and Luna fearlessly charged forth to tear into the army of monsters, Susan and Rhyana were less enthused to mimic their actions.
The did still engage in the battle, but they were much more conservative in their efforts. Understanding that they simply lacked the raw power to be able to do effortlessly challenge such large numbers of monsters at once.
So they instead were more surgical in their assult.
Rhyana flew over the battlefield, lightning strikes raining down on her foes. Susan joining her with the use of water bullets and bubbles.
They fought on the outskirts of the battle, trying to aid the now reinvigorated beast army. They might now have the raw power of their two party members individually, but by working together they could could achieve something greater than what may be possible on their own.
The monster hoard quickly fell into disarray, they were unable to withstand the unrelenting assult of the two beast lords now in their midst.
Where they used to have greater numbers, that advantage was quickly being turned upside down. Their numbers dropping rapidly as the monsters were ruthlessly being crushed by Violet and Luna.
The storm touched wolves, sensing the rapidly changing tides of the battle held back for a moment, assessing the situation and trying to figure out what they should do.
They did not take too long to seemingly come to a decision however, their gazes locked into the two beast lords laying waste to the monsters. Then to the assorted beasts now pushing forward with seemingly unstoppable momentum. Instead of trying to equalise a seemingly lost situation, they decisively joined the winning side.
They pincered the ant monsters from the opposite side to Luna. Penning the monsters in on 3 sides now, the once formidable monsters army now in complete disarray.
The 5 beast lords observed this scene take place. Amazed at how rapidly the tides of the battle had been turned. They had not bothered the fight on the front lines themselves, only pushing forward when the enemy 4th tiers would show themselves on the battlefield.
So to see these two unknown beast lords seemingly aiding them by devastating the monsters hord, left the assembled lords unsure about themselves.
For was it not to be considered cowardly for them to stay back? To continually watch their subjects be harried and slaughtered whilst they themselves sat back and did nothing?
Well they soon got their answer when all 5 of them suddenly felt a gaze land upon them from the midst of the ongoing battle. All of the felt shivers run down their backs, a primordial fear surging up from within.
The gaze of a true apex being had locked into them, full of reproach and judgment. Accompanying this gaze they felt a surge of the presence of this being flair, it demanded attention, announcing its dominance over this battlefield, and a moment later a deafening roar shook the rubble underfoot.
Then the gaze was gone, the dragon that had gazed at the assembled beast lords no longer paying them any mind as it returned to the ongoing battle around it, its claws shredding through any that got too close to them. Its magics tearing through foe after foe, seemingly never to end its barrage of devastation.
Violets roar shook the ground, the monster ants being pushed back with brutal efficiency. Both Violet and Luna renewed their assult, eager to slay as many of the monsters as they possibly could in as short a time as possible.
In the northern section of the fallen city, a cave has been recently excavated. Its depths continue to descend deep underground, eventually reaching the layer of the earth known as the Underdark. But just below the surface a monsterous form can be found.
Dozens of smaller figures crawl around and atop this large form, doing tasks unknown to all but them. The shifting antennae atop the head of this creature twitch as it catches a particular scent on the still breeze.
The creature turns towards the origin of this scent, malice and hunger flashing in its compound eyes. Then like clockwork all of the surrounding smaller forms stop their current tasks, turning to face the exit of their domain, and as one begin to rush forth. The large creature follows behind its lesser kin at a sedate pace. It is in no rush to charge forward, content to await its fellow soldiers arrival.
In the eastern section of the city the Storm Touched are dominant, they consist primarily of canine type beasts. They had opted to delay their eternal march to follow behind the Storm Titan when their alpha found an item that it desired to consume. Not knowing that this action likely saved their lives when the Titan would fall not long after.
Since then this pack of Storm Touched had been wandering in search of something, somewhere to call their home. After finding this region with constant rain, they found comfort in the downpour, choosing to settle here. The city that they currently reside in being their final destination.
Yet now that they had chosen this place they were quite displeased to discover that an infestation of monsters had also arrived to try and concur this land.
The Storm Touched were no stranger to battling the corrupted beings that dwelled below the surface, yet they had always done so as a part of a greater whole, and with the unstoppable might of the Titan to rely on. Yet now they found themselves in a three way war with both the corrupted and the local beasts. Still the Alpha did not mind, he was eager to test his newfound strength against a worthy foe.
Yet his scouts now identified a second corrupted soldier entering the city, this disturbed the Alpha. For whilst he was sure that he could take down a single one, two at once… that could pose a true threat to him, not to mention his pack would face true hardships against the swarm that followed them.
Still it had also been alerted of a new variable. A Dragon had arrived within this fallen city, and not just any dragon, but a Wild Dragon. This… this could change things for the Alpha.
He knew little about Wild Dragons, but he did know a single fact. Wild Dragons of old were the first line of defence against any of the corrupted. Wherever corruption would arise, it would not be long till a dragon arrived to eradicate the stain that they worked to spread.
And apparently this Wild Dragon that only just arrived here was already slaughtering its way through the lesser corrupted. A wicked grin split the twin heads of the Alpha, a plan forming in its mind of how best to deal with this situation.
After pondering for but a few minutes its twin heads nod in unison. A moment later both heads raise to the sky and unleash a howl that shakes the foundation of every building that remains standing for quite some distance around it.
All of the Storm Touched in the city hear the call of their alpha, turning in the direction of the city Center, ready to carry out the will of their alpha.
