The Orthrus stared at the young dragon before him for a long moment. He was quite tempted to give a rebuttal to Violet stating that she wanted to hit him, but chose not too as he could feel the opponents getting closer by the second.
So instead he let out a huff of amusement at the dragons antics before getting serious. He sent out several mental bridges to connect to his subordinates and passed along his instructions to them. Instantly the encirclement of canines broke apart as they began to rapidly reorganise.
They split into two groups, one on each side of the assorted beast army that still stood frozen in place alongside their respective lords. Then once he was happy with the arrangement he sent out more mental bridges, this time connecting all of the assembled beast lords together.
"I'll take on the stronger of the soldiers that will be arriving. Dragon and pup, you two can take on the other one." Then he briefly glanced at the remaining 5 beast lords with clear distain in his eyes before continuing. "You lots just clean up the rabble."
The 5 beast lords wanted to refute and say that they would be able to take on one of these soldiers that the Orthrus mentioned, at least until two giant figures climbed up over the crumbled wall that encircled the central area they stood in. Upon seeing the forms of the two twisted monster ants all of their anger was instantly washed away as they bore witness to their terrifying presence.
Similar to how Violet and Luna's presences are able to merge together, each one amplifying the other. These two giants apparently had a similar ability.
The two's presence blanketed the crumbled courtyard that the beast army resided in. It was a vile thing, corrupted and wrong on a fundamental level. It tried to worm its way into their very consciousness, eating away at their sanity all the while. At least until it was suddenly pushed back. The 5 beast lords and their assembled army sagged in relief as Violet, Luna and the Orthrus's presence surged forth to challenge the monsters own.
An invisible war was waged as the two sides clashed for supremacy, neither willing to give and once but both demanding a mile. Yet neither side could gain a true advantage in this first clash.
With a skreech of fury the two solders intensified their struggle, hoping to push back and claim a victory, yet the companions and Orthrus redoubled their own struggle to hold back the renewed push.
When it was clear that no true victor would be found the soldiers decided that they would just have to settle this with a more direct clash.
As if waiting for this very moment a wave of undulating black chitin surged over the rubble. Hundreds of monster ants scrambling over each other to be the first one to taste first blood. The sight of so many abominations was enough to shake all who saw it, well all bar 3 individuals anyway.
Seeing the encroaching mass of monsters Violet quickly spoke to her group. "Susan and Rhyana, you two work on battling the drones. Leave the big ones to us!"
Although she tried to sound enthusiastic about her role in the upcoming fight, inside Violet was quite worried. The soldier ants before her were quite terrifying beings.
If she had to approximate their strength to a creature she had already seen before, it felt almost at the same level as that first giant crocodile that her group had run into when they first entered this region all that time ago. And that beast was still one of the singularly strongest beasts that Violet had felt, bar the gargantuan sea sovereign Slavina. But that beast was likely in the 5th evolution tier, if not higher.
So both her and Luna now had to face down a monster of that level by themselves, whilst in the midst of a chaotic battlefield. So it was only natural that she was worried. But at the end of the day, Violet was a Dragon, a Wild Dragon at that. What was a bit of danger? She had experienced more life and death battles than she could even count. So what if her opponents were stronger then her? It had never stopped her before, and it sure as heck wouldn't stop her now either.
So with a grin that was matched by her companions own Violet stared down at the slightly smaller of the two monsters, the Terror in turn stared back at her with a vicious hunger gleaming in its twisted compound eyes.
The monsters in question were truly giants, they stood around 6 meters in height and around double that in length. Large crystalline mandibles jutted out from their face, their razor sharp edges acting as funnels for the rain to drip down. A carapace that was both more angular and sturdy than their lesser brethren, whilst they shared the same undulating surface that rippled with elongated tentacles that moved with a malicious intent.
Each of the creatures 6 legs bore jagged spine down their lengths, perfect for tearing flesh and hindering any attacks that may be launched at them from up close.
All in all, they looked like they were made for war. Based off the fact that the Orthrus called them soldiers, that may well be the case.
The larger of the two ants was in turn focused in on said Orthrus, each of the creatures sensing that they already had assigned targets just as they did.
Whilst those 5 stared each other down and remained locked in their invisible battle of their presences, the assembled army's did not remain idle.
They charged forth, the monsters eager for blood and destruction, whilst the beasts sought to push back the twisted invades that were trying to lay claim to their home.
Rhyana charged from the center, Sudan sat atop her back with swirls of water forming around her head. Lightning danced along Rhyana's body, it even passed along Susan's body yet it did not harm her. The two companions led from the front, putting their might on display and leading the assorted beasts into battle.
Behind them was the army, numerous beasts followed. From Bovines, Rodents, birds, wyrms and Mustela. Flanking them was the Storm Touched, the elemental canines crackled with mana, air, water and lightning being the predominate forms utilised by them.
Additionally the 5 beast lords also joined this army in their charge, they were situated in the middle of the pack, hiding behind their subjects. Only the wyrm dared to push forwards, soon charging besides Rhyana.
Then the two forces met. Spells were launched, claws flashed, mandibles snapped shut. Blood and icor soon stained the rubble underfoot as the two army's worked to slay each other.
