Adventures of the last Wild Dragon

Chapter 156: City Clash (9)

Luna emerged from the hole she had created in the rubble pile when she was thrown into it. Her entire body hurt and her front left leg was hanging at an unnatural angle. She grimaced in pain, yet paid it no heed, she instead swept the battlefield with her eyes searching for her companion.

Then she saw her. Luna bore witness to Violet blinking away from the monsters first attack, then she began to release her void cannon as the Terror closed in yet again.

The explosion of crackling violet power was no balm to Luna, for she felt her companions pain in that moment. It was white hot and surged through the bond as Violet was unable to hold it back from the shock of her injury.

The monster was blasted back slightly from Violet's attack as it was slightly off ballence from its rapid dash towards her. This still did not reassure Luna, for a fresh cloud of debris had been cast when the two might attacks clashed.

Soon though the rain beat back the rising rubble and revealed Luna's companion.

Violet was somehow still standing, yet she was not in a great state. She had managed to avoid the worst fate from that singular attack, yet had been unable to fully block it. The mandible had cut through half of her leg and cut a vicious wound through her chest, blood was flowing out of the wound like a river.

Seeing this casued Luna's heart to shudder, fury quickly built within her as her mind played back the countless times that she had been forced to watch Violet be hurt. With a reverberating growl Luna took a step and reappeared right on top of the monster, its red glow rapidly dissolving as it suffered the backlash of unleashing such a powerful skill.

Appearing in the monsters back right above the cracked spot that formed from Violet's first attack. Luna instantly used her most powerful skills.

Arctic fury caused dozens of ice spears to begin forming around her, frozen moment tried to freeze the very concept of time itself. The monster that normally could have resisted such an attack was unable to with its current weakened state. So as a result it too was stuck in this moment of frozen time.

Only Luna, aswell as her arsonal of icy spears were able to move uninhibited.

She did not let a singular moment go to waste. Her claws elongated, her tail swished down and the hovering ice spikes shot down. All of Luna's fury was unleashed as she hacked, slashed and tore her way through the sturdy shell.each of her hits speaking slightly more damage than the last, with her spears counting as an attack this effect rapidly grew in intensity.

The first dozen strikes did little true damage, the second dozen were able to widen the crack in the shell, the third dozen began to tear chunks of its undulating armour off. Any nearby tentacles having already been torn out from the root by this point.

Then came the fourth dozen, each of her strikes rended the impervious armour, tearing deep furrows into it with ease. Her spears acting as picks to widen any crack and allow her claws to dig in just that bit deeper.

Her frozen moment was beginning to come apart by this time, her mana rapidly running out thanks to her continual arctic fury. Yet she continued on.

By now she had gotten through the shell itself and she was finally able to get at the flesh beneath. With her ice capped claws shredding vast swaths of flesh with ease.

Then time unfroze, the last of her spears formed and shot down. The monster screamed in fury and pain, then it moved.

It instantly tried to shake the annoying pest off its back, but Luna's claws dig deep, her broken leg screamed in pain, yet she refused to let go. Her tail continuing her assult regardless of the monsters best intentions of throwing her off.

Then she heard a roar of fury, this one however, came from someone that she knew all too well.

The pain was blinding for Violet, the monsters mandible had torn right through her sturdy defences. Her scales may as well have bean leaves for all the defence that they provided for the monsters attack. Her bones, likewise were unable to stop the powerful blow, and she felt each one as it was sliced through.

Violet had tried to roll out of the way, yet was only partially successful. Her front leg was nearly entirely cut off, yet she survived it…

Then she felt everything come to a stop, the only sound that lasted was the enraged growl of her companion. Violet left a wicked grin form on her face despite the pain she felt.

Violet felt like she could almost make out the sensation of tearing and cutting filter through the bond, yet it seemed stilted and was overwhelmed by the feeling of Luna's fury.

Then just as the moment of frozen time started, it was suddenly over. And the monster screamed in pain.

Violet could feel the exhaustion of her companion after her all out assault, yet she also knew that Luna's determination would not weaver. So when the monster began to try and dislodge its unwanted passenger Violet knew she had to make a move.

Her gaze focused on the rampaging monster, taking in ever detail that she could. She instantly noted that the chitin covering the Terrors face had shattered, revealing a horrific mass of twisted flesh with a gaping void of darkness in the middle.

Violet's determination grew and she knew that this fight could not be allowed to continue on for any longer, she could feel herself growing weaker and weaker as she bled fountains of blood from her gaping wounds. So she gathered every feet of power, her last visages of will and let loose a roar of challenge imbued with her defiant will.

The monster locked into her position in an instant, and began to make its way in her direction.

Violet took a deep breath, almost loosing said breath when a jolt of sharp pain shot from her open wound. But she held on.

When the monster was only a few meters away as near split Violet face and she began to gather power in her lungs. The minsters mandibles opened wide, intending to finish Violet off first before it dealt with the pest in its back. Violet would not allow it to do so anymore.

With defiance blazing in her heat Violet let loose her draconic breath. A hyper condensed beam of void shot forth towards the monsters face, a momentary look of shock and fear flashed over the Terror. Yet it was too late and too close by for it to try any moves that might allow it to escape.

Violets dragon breath impacted the creatures head, directly into its open maw. The violet light of her void attack shone with such intensity that all other colours in the world momentarily ceased to exist. In the next moment a cataclysmic explosion rang out, a shockwave swiftly following that blew away any and everything in the near vicinity.
