Tyre was having a bad day.
First he got snubbed at the guild, his request to be promoted was denied due to the flimsy reason of 'lacking proper achievements in the field.' So he naturally stormed off with his party to prove the pencil pushers wrong.
He had heard rumours of some elementals causing a ruckus in the West valley entrance. So he and his party had ventured out to go and investigate and hopefully put down the troublesome monsters.
Surely if he could deal with a threat such as that the guild would be forced to promote him right!?
Well either way, they had rushed forth to go an see what they could do. Clad in his truly platemail and wielding his father's war hammer Tyre felt invincible.
They had arrived at the valley in good time. Only just past mid day, so they had plenty of time left to scout out the area and locate the elementals.
They did a quick search around the back of the valley, yet found no evidence of the supposed elementals. So, they were forced to treck all the way to the valley mouth to continue their search.
It was when they left the valley that things went wrong.
They found the elemental, or to be more accurate, the elementals found them. One moment he and his friends were marching along without a care in the world, the next moment they were faced with dozens of Earth, stone and nature elementals.
Whilst Tyre was confident in his skills, he was one of the youngest Lords in the city after all. He was not stupid. So when dozens of elementals appeared, with several Terrors mixed into the swarm, their was only a single thing that he could think of doing.
"Retreat!! We canny fight this, I'll hold rear guard everyone else fall back now!" Tyre bellowed. His shout snapping his friends out of their terror filled stupor. He activated his strongest defensive skill alongside his taunt skill, instantly the majority of the elementals turned to face him. Their unnatural gazes sending a shiver down his spine.
His party did not waste any more time, immediately falling back in a semi controlled manner. He followed behind, never turning his back to the monsters before him. But the elementals would not let them go so easily.
The closest to him charged forth. He swung his hammer down in a mana empowered strike, crushing the torso of the first to reach him, sending rock shards flying in all directions. Then he was forced to duck under a stone bullet, dive to the side to avoid an ensnaring root reaching for his legs and swing again to block a descending rocky fist.
His party retreated, the mage of the group sending what magical assistance she could, yet their was just too many of them. There was unable to hold back the full might of the swarm and he knew it.
Gritting his teeth he made a decision. "Full retreat, don't stop just run!" He gave his friends a moment to make some distance, after all none of them had crossed into the 4th tier like him. He had to give them the opportunity to escape first.
Several seconds of frantic battle later he found an opening in the seemingly endless barrage of attacks to slip free. He ducked low, dove to the side once again, then turned around and sprinted after his fleeing friends.
He thought they they might be free, able to escape from the elementals. Oh how wrong he was.
They made it around half way back through the valley before it arrived. A towering giant, rock and nature entwined in a terrifying mix, a hybrid elemental had arrived in front of them blocking their only way forward.
Now stuck between a towering hybrid and a swarm of elementals they had no other option. "Form up! We fight!"
The knew they stood no chance, his party knew that they stood no chance. Yet, what else could they do? They had ventured into the wilds and the wilds had laughed at their arrogance.
So they grouped up. Shields raised and standing shoulder to shoulder. Tyre in the middle, his war hammer raised ready to strike down any who got too close. Yet, the elementals did not immediately attack them once more, no, they surrounded them. Boxed them in, leaving only the mountain wall to their backs and monsters on all sides.
His party consisted of 6 members. 1 mage, 1 ranger, 2 shield specialists and two offensive warriors, Tyre being one of the latter and the leader.
They all prepared themselves for the battle, skills cast, magic gathers and determination hardened. They were ready, as ready as they would ever be anyway. "It was my honour to fight besides all of you. Now ready your yourselves for one final fight! Let's make it one to remember!"
Then the elementals advanced, not a rabid charge, but a controlled advance. Slowly closing in, probing their defenses, seeing where they could punch through. Tyre and his friends fought with everything that they had and more.
It was not enough.
They were pushed back, their attacks beaten away, their hopes slowly being crushed.
Just as Tyre was facing off against one of the lesser Terrors he suddenly heard it. A primal roar that shook the ground. Every elemental momentarily froze at the sound, the party also pausing but for a different reason.
Whilst the monsters seemed to be physically stunned, Tyre and his party suddenly felt a surge of energy rush through them. Their exhaustion washed away, newfound power filling their limbs and a surge of tentative hope blossoming within them.
Tyre then looked up, and saw… something, it was a veritable barrage of something, but not. It was a wall of individual points of utter nothingness, he was unable to understand what they were. Right until they struck the elementals in front of him.
Wherever these balls of nothingness struck, entire chunks of the elementals simply vanished, removed from reality and sent back to wherever that nothingness came from. And they did not stop coming, more and more of these bolts rained down on the monsters, interspersed with elongated spears of this strange attack, the spears tore through anything they touched.
The elementals simply unable to resist the decorating assault. Then suddenly, someone was stood before him, she wore a simple blue tunic and pants, he hair and tail were Snow White with incandescent sparkles of blue, he exuded an aura of utter cold causing him to take an involuntary step back in shock. She looked over her shoulder at him and gave him a fang filled smile.
Tyre felt hia face flush under her gaze, she was primal, ferocious and one of the singularly most beautiful women that he had ever seen in his life. Then the woman turned back around, looking at the still stunned elementals.
Ice rapidly spread out along the ground before he and twin swords of ice formed in her hands. She then shot forward with incredible speed, he form shimmering for a moment before she seemed to split into 3. A swarm of ice spears forming in the air around her and her clones? No illusions, he realised as he watched one of the illusions strike a foe only for its sword to deal no damage, the ice spear that struck a heartbeat later however, did deal damage.
Tyre then felt a presence blanket the battlefield. Its power was frightening, fully of untold potential and a primordial wildness that was hard to fathom. He instinctively raised his head to where he felt the presence and his eyes opened wide.
Above the battlefield floated a girl, no a woman. She had pink skin, purple hair and had horns poking out of her head, violet scaled wings and a tail could also be seen. He white and purple dress fluttering in the breeze. Tyre once more felt his face flush as he gazed at the beauty that was flying in the air above him, his mind struggling to match the stunning woman with the terrifying presence.
Then a moment later he saw the magics that she cast. Dozens of bolts of that odd nothingness materialised all around her, the speed of their appearance was astounding. Intermixed with spears and beams that devistated the swam of foes before her.
He also saw a magical circle being carved out of existence itself rapidly growing in the air above her. She was putting on staggering display of magical might that would shame nearly every Lord that he knew.
Then with a blinding violet flash of light a concentrated blast of nothingness shot forth from the magic circle. Tyres eyes followed the eruption of power down to the towering hybrid elemental, he blinked as his mind tried to process what he saw.
Where once stood the towering giant that caused Tyre to despair, now stood a crumbling heap of stone and vines. He struggled to believe it, that flying woman had managed to destroy a mid stage Terror in a singular attack!? 'How is that even possible!' He thought was incredulity.
From there it was a slaughter. Tyre and his party bearely even had to do anything after that, only fighting anything that got too close to them. As the strange ice woman and flying violet lady dealt death to all.
He belatedly noticed two other women fighting from the back of the elemental swarm. One looked quite similar to the flying woman, just with blue as her main colour instead of violet and purple. Behind her stood a dogkin casting water magic's.
They were both quite impressive, powerful enough to put most early stage Lords to shame, yet, when compared to the other two… they almost seemed normal.
Then it was over. The last of the elementals fell and silence took over the battlefield.
It was at that moment that the two terrifying women suddenly appeared right in front of Tyre and his party. Both of them held wild smiles of their faces that showed the hint of fangs, they exuded power and their presences had yet to be fully withdrawn. Tyre gulped as he stared at the two women before him.
