Adventures of the last Wild Dragon

Chapter 171: Getting to know the Locals

Silence reigned over the area for a prolonged moment after violets words. Until they were eventually broken by Luna who looked up at her companion indignantly. "Hey don't compare me to him!" Whilst gesturing down at the currently unconscious dwarf.

"I never feinted just from speaking to you!" She huffed in faux annoyance, yet Violet could feel her amusement nevertheless. "Still you should probabally pull back your presence and shift back. I think the others might also pass out if you don't."

She was not wrong either, whilst the other 5 people were still conscious, they were all on their knees with pale faces.

Seeing this Violet agreed and pulled back her presence, the assembled party took a collective breath as they felt like a great weight had been taken off their shoulders. Then a purple glow illuminated Violet once more, a few seconds later she was back once again in her humanoid form. She was wearing a simple purple dress with blue accents.

Whilst Violet still did not enjoy being dressed up, she had grown to appreciate looking good, be it from natural dragon vanity or more accurately from the feelings of joy and words of praise she received from Luna. Either way she had begrudgingly grown to appreciate dressing up, to an extent anyway.

Violet still refused to wear shoes or any undergarments. Despite Luna's insistence on wearing them, Violet drew the line on that, even her finally accepting wearing a singular item, such as the dress she now wore was already more than enough for the dragon.

"T-thank you for your mercy mighty dragon. W-we apologise for any offense we may have caused you!" Squeaked out one of the dwarves who wielded a shield and sword.

Violet looked curiously at the man, who shivered slightly under her gaze. "Hmm it's fine, just don't call me a lizard again!" All assembled nodded vigorously at that, unable to say anything more.

The silence dragged for several more awkward seconds until Tyre finally roused himself. He groggily looked around in confusion until his gaze locked onto Violet who stood above him. His face paled once more and he scrambled onto his knees before slamming his head down to the ground.

"I am sorry for my words lady dragon! Please feel free to kill me for my offense but I beg of you, please spare my companions." He half shouted in a rush.

Violet tilted her head in confusion at his words before slowly replying. "It's fine… and like I told your friends just now, simply don't call me a lizard again."

"O-of course, I will ensure no one dares to insult you again! You have my word!"

Violet simply nodded to herself, believing that everything was sorted out now. Yet he still remained prostrated on the ground, after several more awkward seconds Luna chose to speak up. "Umm you can stand up now."

Tyre glanced up, not looking at Luna but instead looking up at Violet for confirmation, seeing her now slightly annoyed expression his face somehow became even paler. Yet she did give a small nod of her head, she was slightly miffed that he chose to ignore Luna's words though.

Receiving the nod Tyre made his way back up to his feet, brushing off the dirt and rubble now stuck to his face after he slammed it into the ground.

Coughing lightly into his fist Tyre then went on to properly reintroduce himself and his party.

"Allow me to properly introduce myself and my party once more. My name is Tyre, besides me stands Lydia, Marcus, Douven, Sylus and Lutan." Gesturing at the axe wielding, the two shield bearers, the ranger and the mage respectively.

"Might I know why it is that you have travelled here? It is not often that we receive visitors, especially not ones of such import as a True Wild Dragon."

Violet hummed as she glanced over at the assembled fighters, their hunched posture declaring their nervousness to her observant eyes. "We are traveling east, we met a Dryad by the name of Ivy, she is a member of the Wild Order." As she spoke she took out the token that she received from her.

Violet held it up briefly, just long enough for Tyre to properly see it before she waved it away back into her storage space. "She told us that their was a city in this direction and gave us directions so that we could find it." She then paused for a moment as if considering something. "Would you be able to show us the way into the city?"

"Yes! Yes, we would be delighted to show you all the way. Umm, if we want to arrive before night falls then we should probably not delay for too much longer." Tyre readily agreed to Violet's request.

"Good good, then shall we go? Or do any of you need healing?" Asked Luna, quickly glancing over at Susan to see if she would be alright healing any of them, getting a small nod at the unspoken question Luna smiled at her.

"Umm yes, Marcus took quite the hit earlier, it would be greatly appreciated if you would be able to help." The dwarf gladly explained. Hearing that Susan stepped forwards Rhyana following closely behind her.

It was only then that a sudden realisation hit Tyre, 'wait, if this Violet woman is a dragon, then it would make sense if the other woman that looked quite similar to her to also be a dragon?' His mind trembled at the prospect. His lips suddenly felt dry, his nerves once more making themselves known.

"Could I know your two names?" Tyre asked as politely as possible to the two approaching women.

Smiling down at the bearded man Susan replied. "My name is Susan, this is Rhyana and yes before you ask she too is a dragon." Tyres eyes opened even wider at that, the implications of suddenly having not one but two dragons visiting the city at once astounding him.

The city of Cragkieth is a truly old city. It has stood for thousands of years, founded by some of the greatest dwarves to have ever existed. For as long as this grand city has stood they have always been staunch allies with the Wild Dragons, along with those that inherited their duty of battling corruption, which is why the Wild Order is headquartered here, that along with its location providing it easy access to both sides of the Endless Forest.

So for Tyre to have all of a sudden met not just one, but two dragons, Wild Dragons at that! He was in a mild state of shock at how this day had gone. From a terrible start, to almost dying, to now being able to introduce two dragons to his fair city. It was a rollercoaster of emotions, but he was eager to see where the rest of this fateful day would take him!

The now group of ten proceeded to head towards the end of the valley, making steady progress in the now quiet landscape. No beast or monster making themselves known to the powerful group.

As they traveled Violet and her group quizzed Tyre and his group for more details in the city. Learning more about this city from a local that seemed determined to get on their good side. The power disparity between them did also seem to tilt all interactions between the two in Violet's groups favour.

Before long they soon arrived at a grand cavern entrance in the wall of the mountain valley. Its gaping maw leading deep into the dark depths, yet light shone from within the overly large tunnel, made for a size that a dragon three times Violet's own size would be easily be able to walk down.

They would soon be arriving at the ancient city of the dwarves, the city of Cragkieth.
