Violet dashed forwards, her claws encased in void and a bestial grin splitting her face. By her side a blue scaled dragon also ran, currents of electricity dancing along her azure scales.
A tall ant stood in Violet's path, red light glinting off its multi faceted eyes. Its mandibles snapped together with dire speed, yet they closed on empty air. Violet reappeared on the back of the ant after taking a step, with brutal efficiency she tore the mad ant in half before taking one more step and appearing behind another of the infected beasts.
Rhyana was ellated that she had finally found the Wild Dragon, but was also quite distressed about the situation that they found themselves in. To be trapped inside of a dome with mad beasts, a malevolent tree and a gargantuan guardian whilst surrounded by beasts that easily eclipsed her in individual strength. It was a scary situation to find oneself in.
Yet when she felt the wild one's presence clash with the terrifying guardians… she felt like their may actually be a chance for them to survive this ordeal.
So when she saw some of the cowardly beasts become infected by the madness and all charge directly at her fellow dragon. Well how could she ever allow herself to remain passive.
No she was a dragon. And her goal right before her, and she was in trouble. So she moved.
Her electricity danced across her scales, boosting her speed and power to entirely new levels.
After blasting away a foe that tried to strike the wild one away she finally got a chance to properly inspect the wild one up close.
The dragon had onyx scales with a deep violet tint reminiscent of her enchanting eyes. She was definitely a female dragon based on her lean build, yet was also obviously powerful.
Her magics were unlucky anything that Rhyana had ever seen before. When a bolt was formed it looked like a whole in the world itself manifested above her. And when she saw how a bolt flew past her to strike an approaching beast in the face, she blinked in surprise when their was simply no longer a head to the beast.
It was honestly quite terrifying how powerful the young dragon was.
Yet, that could also only be seen as a blessing. For how else would this Wild Dragon have survived in this harsh wilderness without being strong.
Regardless, they had a battle to win, and together the two dragons decimated the small group of mad beasts.
Back at the fight with the guardian things were slowly beginning to turn in the assembled beast favour.
Whilst the temporary loss of the void dragon was a hit to their offensive power, the assembled beasts still had plenty of heavy hitters that could still injure the guardian.
From the golden feathered chimera, the ice elemental, the electric wolf alpha, the trunked giant and the strange two legged ice welder.
They caught the guardian from two sides with their strongest fighters. The trunked beast and the elemental occupied one side, whilst the ice welder and the alpha wolf handled the other head.
The chimera focused on the body of the guardian, methodically shredding its thick armoured carapace and tearing off any leg that got too close to it.
The other assembled beast worked to aid these core fighters, be it like the fast and agile feline and avian beasts that focused on damaging the legs or getting pot shots in at either head. To the physically strong beasts that would stay near the heads to try and aid in blocking attacks.
The numbers of the assembled beast was down to less than 30 by now, with several having already been killed by the rampaging guardian.
2 of the feline beasts along with another of the electric wolves that had followed Violet having already been crushed underfoot. The deer too had already been killed during the frenetic fighting that took place before the guardian even awoke.
Many others had perished during this prolonged battle. The total number of beasts that had originally arrived in this clearing numbered well over 300. For their numbers to have dropped to be less than 10% of the original amount showed the dreadful toll this quest took.
That is also only counting the number of beasts that arrived in the final clearing too. Not the innumerable beasts that were lining the edge of the great central valley on the dawn of this long and bloody day.
Yet the day was not quite over.
And the battle was far from over.
Luna dove to the side once more, the collosal head of the guardian slashing into the ground in the spot she previously occupied. Clumps of displaced earth colliding with her begradled figure in the moment it took her to regain her ballance.
Once standing once more she thrust her spear forward once more. Yet had to quickly alter her attack into a hasty block that sent her skidding back. A bullet of water flew past her to collide with the head of the guardian yet the beast paid it no mind, simply continuing its relentless asssult.
The guardian only responded when a blinding bolt of lightning crashed down on its head. A sickening pop sounded out as one of the beasts multiple eyes burst from the concentrated electrical current. It recoiled in pain and a bone shaking wail sounded out.
Yet Luna advanced, taking a step she appeared besides yet another eye and thrust her spear down into the organ. With a savage twist the extended ice blade pierced and devistated another eye.
She may have pierced deep there as instead of a simple skreech of pain the guardian fully recoiled. Both heads pulled back and the beast re coiled around the great tree in the centre.
At the same time a great wave of mana surged from the guardian, it billowed out in a visable wave. Its emerald green denoting its origin in nature, yet a sickly red tint could be seen infecting the otherwise pure mana radiating from the centipede.
The mana emanating from the centre of the clearing had a physical pressure that pushed back the surrounding beasts. Violet who had just finished off the last of the mad ones was just in time to witness this shift in the battle.
For as the mana being emitted from the guardian grew, the very ground around it reacted.
The corpses littered around the clearing began to be engulfed by vines and roots, thick thorns piercing the hides of the dead. As blood once more fell from the bodies the vines and roots seemed to begin to absorb the blood itself. Seeing this violet was momentarily confused before she looked up at the guardian and realised what it was doing.
For as the corpses shattered around the clearing began to dry up, the guardian in the center healed.
New legs began to sprout, burst eyes regrew and the deep grooves carved into the twinkling carapace began to close up at a visable rate.
Violet and a few others tried to interrupt this magic's, either by attacking the vines or sending attacks at the guardian itself. Yet neither worked. New vines simply grew, and attacks themselves were thrown off or simply dissolved when faced with the overwhelming mana being radiated from the guardian.
After a minute though the spell seemed to be over and the guardian was once more back at full health.
With a deafening CLACK! Both heads of the giant announced their fury. It gazed down at the assembled beasts with a sense of smug superiority over its lesser foes.
At least that was the case until a meter wide beam of void crashed into the face of one of the guardians heads.
