With the death of one of the heads the giant centipede, its mobility is dramatically reduced. Half of its body is now unresponsive, forcing the remaining head to have to drag around the other half of its body.
Too add to that the guardian still seems to be reeling from the sensation of halving half of its body die. It will twitch and shudder from phantom signals coming from the mutilated and deceased half.
The assembled army does not let this opportunity go to waste.
With the trunked giant still holding the guardians attention, for the most part. The remaining beast are free to assult the boss, something that they take too with relish.
Many beasts charge the legs, aiming to truly prevent the beast from moving. More move to assist the trunked one, be that through bodily taking hits aimed for it or with magical support.
This comes as a relief for the giant as its stone reinforced hide is currently cracked, blood runs down in small rivulets and the beast is unsteady on its feet. The support allows it to reset itself from the relentless assult that the guardian has been raining down in it.
However, the cadence of the battle has now been changed. Where before the guardian was acting with a sense of disinterest at best, now… now that the beast is beginning to overcome the shock of loosing half of its body, it is furious.
All restraints it may have held over its magic have now been discarded. Vines, roots thorns and more erupt from the ground in a dizzying display of magical prowess. The thorns shoot out, aiming at anything and everything that moves. The guardian doesn't even care when its own thorns hit itself, even when they form small cracks in its carapace.
The chimera once more leaps onto the back of the guardian, shortly joined by Luna and a new participant. A azure blue scaled dragon wreathed in lightning joins the dangerous duo. Localised explosions of electricity dig deep into the guardian as her claws gouge out deep trenches into the carapace.
A dogkin woman appears on the trunked beast back, water seeping from her arms to begin to coat the giant and aid in closing its wounds.
A blue eagle flys in rapid circles around the guardians head. Dodging with alacrity any stray thorns or vines that race towards it. Wind blades are launched continually, aimed at either the eyes or on the mandibles to knock its attacks off course.
A reduced pack of wolves led by a wounded by still strong alpha tear into the spear like legs of the guardian. Leg after leg is torn off and sent flying, bolts of electricity invading the exposed flesh after each leg is successfully torn away.
On the other side of the wolves a smaller feline beast moves with several others beasts, they mirror the wolves efforts to tear into the exposed legs. Second by second the guardians movements slow down.
Excessive blood loss is finally taking effect. The once controlled movements and precise control the giant had over its magics have begun to deteriorate. They are still overwhelmingly powerful as demonstrated when an ape slinging rocks at the guardian is hit by a stray root, it's now two halves collapse to the ground, its blood mixing into the now crimson soil.
Violet for her part is only firing the occasion void bolt, otherwise focusing on avoiding the near endless barrage of attacks aimed at her. Seems like even in the guardians rage it still seems fit to focus on killing her. Not that Violet can blame the giant, she was the root cause of the other heads defeat.
Still she is slowly readying another void cannon, yet is not allowed to fully dedicate her mind to the task. Forced to regularly dive away or void step to escape a particularly deadly wave of attacks.
She glances over and takes solace in the fact that the ice elemental is also under intense pressure from the guardian. They have clearly been marked as the two priority targets.
Whilst Violet is proud of her prowess, it is frustrating that she is not given the time she needs to truly unleash her magic's. Although she supposes that is the point of the endless barrage she is under.
The battle continues like this, the assembled beasts slowly whittling down the guardians impressive defense. The guardian in turn throwing everything it has into killing all that surround it.
Soon enough though Violet is just about ready with her attack, and it seems like the ice elemental is also about ready to unleash its finally attack too.
Two magical circles now hover in the air, one existing as a tapestry of nothingness caved out of the very fabric of reality. The other a intricate formation of threads of ice. Each being supplied by a vast amount of mana.
All being have naturally sensed this incredible build up of mana, the giant circles of magic floating in the air are also glaringly obvious. The guardian has only increased its focus on the two sources of magic, yet the beasts took note of that and some moved in to aid both mages.
But Violet still needs a distraction, for the guardian to be held down for a moment, enough so that her magics will be able to strike true.
So she asks the one person that she trusts above all others. "Luna you need to stop its movements for a moment, I don't want to miss this spell!"
Hearing her companions plee Luna thinks. How will she be able to hold the beast down? It is too powerful to hold by herself… or is it? The guardian has been wounded terribly, and she doesn't need to hold it down for long…
Yeah she might have a chance after all.
Leaping down from the back of the giant. Luna begins to gather her mana, she still has quite a lot left. Her usual tactic of just running in and stabbing things tends to work, but that leave her magical abilities sorely lacking when compared to her companion. Yet just today she has seen such a wide array of magics. And from beasts, some not even appearing all too intelligent.
So she centers herself, gathers her mana and throws her entire being into manifesting her desires.
A wave of liquid ice surges from her form, the temperature within the entire clearing suddenly takes a dive and drops to below zero. Arctic winds seem to form from nothing and plumes of frozen air billow out of the combatants mouths and noses.
Then the wave of ice flows.
It heads straight to the guardian, when it touches a legs or carapace that section turns solid whilst the rest of its mass moves on. The creeping frost rapidly climbs up the body of the giant, then as it reaches just below its head the entire sea of liquid ice solidifies and locks the guardian in place.
Cracks rapidly appear in it, whilst the magic is impressive, the sheer physical might of the guardian is just too overwhelming to be stopped for long by any being so far below it in level.
Yet a moment is all that Violet and the ice elemental need.
A cannon of void fires. Swiftly followed by a connecting thread of ice.
The void blast connects with the head and once more a whole is blasted through the being. Erasing just under half of the head.
Then a moment later a massive lance of ice pierces through the remaining half of the guardian. Before exploding in a rain of viscera.
Shortly thereafter the guardian finally collapses to the ground finally dead.
