BEYOND THE BLAZE

Chapter 66: The Prince vs Akirion

SWOOSH

The Firearrow pierced the thick smoky air, charging towards the Prince. Eyes widened, hearts racing, a faint war drum thudding, breathing was a hard thing to do, their faces hinting astonishment. Knees trembled; the ones who were on their feet struggled to maintain their stance, while the seated had vibrating feet.

Round opened mouths released gasps while some gulped after seeing the prince's life in danger.

As for the prince, he struggled to stand, exhaustion aching his royal body while trembling maintained its stance, getting his body to vibrate in fear.

His eyes widened in astonishment while the princess helped him in glaring at the upcoming attack.

"KAID!!!" the princess yelled his short name as she got scared by the attack that had to be defended. Her eyes trembled while tearing up, her body shaking like jelly. Her heart was no longer pounding; it was vibrating.

Akirion's eyes were filled with rage, his face solid, and his mouth with the absence of emotions as he was driven by rage.

Suddenly his eyes widened, looking at the prince, who had his mouth closed but his body screaming for help. Akirion's mind raced for less than a second, with a gasp that escaped his mouth.

Suddenly the arrow pierced the empty thin air, without the prince's screaming royal body in front of the attack. Boom, the arrow left the walls shaking, leaving a great hole that resembled the shot of a fire arrow.

Eyes raced to the hole, searching for the minced and grilled Prince, but shamelessly, he wasn't there, only an empty dark cave, filled with smoke.

Gasps arose from the arena, screams following the loud exclamations. The winter struck the whole arena as the crowd got shaky. Their mouths and hands vibrated, a faint heartbeatpounding in everybody with eyes trembling as they darted around searching for the prince.

Nobody cared about Akirion, since he was the one who initiated the attack that landed the prince into the unknown.

Eyes were busy searching for the prince, who was lying down with Akirion. They were both out of the stage, the prince half conscious, the princess holding his head, trying to get him to open his sleepy, tired eyes.

"Kaid?! Kaid, wake up, please, wake up! Don't leave me, please… Pleaseeee! Kaid, please, open your eyes!" The princess sobbed, tears streaming down her face as her voice cracked with despair.

Kaid remained silent, his words locked inside of his chest. The princess got more than worried, her eyes darting around, her tears falling on Prince Kaid's face.

Akirion was lying on the other side, his eyes glaring at the empty, clear blue sky. His face was filled with relief, but his body was aching as the pain throbbed in his back.

"Kaid…!" the princess continued, but suddenly, a voice growled beneath Fiana. Her eyes widened; a flash of astonishment spread across her face.

"What did I tell you about calling me Kaid?" "Smoothly and softly," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

The princess' face bloomed with happiness, her lips curled up, and her shiny teeth glowed in the sun that was approaching the golden color of the evening.

"Thank God, thank God, thank God?! I'm glad; I missed you." Fiana said, her eyes filled with mischief.

"The what? I was here with you, wasn't I?" the astonished Kaid asked.

"You are right, but your heart was playing hide-and-seek with me."

"Oh sorry, I was just resting my eyes; don't worry."

Many eyes escaped the hole as they found the prince. Eyes filled with tears, screams hidden behind their chest after seeing the prince happily grinning as he spoke with his sister.

Their pounding hearts eased, their minds cooling as the storm of battle faded. Round-shaped mouths turned into smiles as mischief reigned in the arena, getting everyone happy.

The medics ran to help the prince, who was lying on top of the princess's lap. He denied help, trusting his drained strength to help him up when he's ready.

Everyone was craving for the rewards that Akirion was going to get since the prince got away from his seat to give Akirion and the other two their rewards. Since their minds were calm and ready for anything, they now carved to see the rewards and then go.

But the exhausted Prince was down, with no energy to rely on. His energy was swallowed by the Firearrow that he shot at Akirion, leaving him totally alone.

The prince struggled to stand up, but for the nice helping hand from the princess, he would not have been able to stand on his trembling feet. He then thanked Akirion for saving his skin, which was going to be roasted like a chicken.

He gave Akirion a hug, giving the emotional ones a hard time in holding back their tears since the beauty of the prince's love touched their hearts.

After the boring hugs, a sudden sound of snapping fingers echoed throughout the arena, sending slightly faint shivers down their backbones.

The prince's hand was held high, a bit clenched, after he snapped his two fingers.

Three savants entered the arena with three trays, carrying three different types of parcels.

A simple grin kept his handsome face intact, hiding his lack of strength behind his smile. He took out a nice-looking, legendary sword from one of the trays. It held a nice golden line around the handle while the silver covered the blade.

"Wow," such words whirled around the arena as they glared at the nice-looking sword that was mostly for the number one who won the event. In this case, Akirion was the number one, with the outstanding win against all his opponents. The nice-looking sword was then landed in his hands.

Cheers boomed, and many stood up, their teeth sparkling and their eyes filled with mischief. Their claps thundered throughout the arena, screams the thunderous noise.

Akirion's face bloomed with happiness as he finally got his hands on a legendary sword. But his grinning face suddenly got solid as his c-shaped smiling mouth became an I. His eyes that were filled with mischief widened, hinting at a big shock, but nobody noticed him.

His mind started racing, his heart thudding like a war drum from a distance. His face showed astonishment as he was filled with flabbergasting visions playing in front of his eyes.

He saw a legendary hero, the Elysian, or the world saver, who fought with the demon lord and almost defeated him. The demon lord wasn't killed, because he used some hallucination spells on the hero and escaped his death.

The hero was seen carrying a sword, fire chipping and burning everywhere, with the world looming with darkness all over as the sun was already spending its off. The sky was nowhere to be seen, only the darkness, with no sign of a moon or star.

The vision showed a very scary gigantic human-like guy with a scary mask. It wasn't a mask, but his scary face. The mask thing was showing bones all over, hinting that its face was like a mask.

His aura was darkly intimidating as it looked greyish-like, sharing the color with a bit of blue, and it caused Akirion to vibrate in fear, his heart trembling.

His legs were vibrating like he was in a winter cold, his heart thudding loud.

As for the hero, he was standing, his eyes on the gigantic beast. Akirion was viewing the scene behind the hero. The hero's hands were hardly clenched, one of them holding a sword tightly. His veins were pushing the skin up, intimidating lines all over his hand.

The vision was flashy, only lasting less than a minute, but Akirion observed a lot during those seconds. Nobody realized Akirion's reactions during the vision, only their eyes widened when they saw him handing the sword over to the professor who was standing right next to Akirion. He passed the sword with his right hand while the left one grabbed his head that was playing frightening moments of the last hero.

His eyes were tightened, and his jaw was gritted as he tried to get rid of the fierce visions. His trembling face was filled with astonishment and fear as his face screamed in agony for help, with his mouth sealed.

He suddenly collapsed, his right knee making an impact on the ground as it clung deep into the dust while the left one was up. His right hand helped the left in eradicating the fierce film that was playing before his eyes.

The professor didn't hesitate to grab the sword that was pushed to him. He started to admire the sword, his mind lost as he felt excited for touching the legendary sword that he never dreamed of touching since it was very expensive; his monthly wages were never going to reach the right amount to buy it. So only his wishes were fulfilled.

His fake smile for pretending to grin since Akirion was receiving his reward suddenly changed into a genuine grin, stretching his lips from ear to ear. His mind filled up with silly thoughts that were merely scary.

'This sword is said to be sharp,' the professor said, while swinging the sword a bit. He added, 'I can finish all of them here by just making a round while swinging it.' He sneered, following his rude mind, forgetting his favorite Akirion, who was suffering.

Some got thunderstruck by the sudden movements that got them asking—filling Akirion's head with too many questions that got him almost irritated since his mind was like pierced by a needle, pain flowing over his body.

"Akie! What happened?" Elina asked, her eyes widened, also darting as astonishment filled her body.

"Akirion! What happened?" The same question prevailed but came from many different people since they were all flabbergasted.

Questions rose up as many asked, including his classmates, who were cheering, happy for his success.

With no words from him, he stood up with his body back to normal, surprising everyone who was there. The gasps whirled over the stage as they got astonished by his strong body that came from shaking a minute ago.

They even failed to take those questions out; the simple ones, like "What happened?" didn't come out either, only the princess asked about his well-being.

The princess, who was standing right next to the corner, found a way to ask something else.

"Are you okay, Akirion?" the princess asked, with a smile blooming on her face while mixed with astonishment but trying to keep it real.

Akirion made a purely handsome smile and replied to her, 'Yeah, I'm better than ever,' he said, while touching his black hair. His smile prevailed, and it made the princess gasp, as astonishment at his handsome look made her heart beat too fast.
