Chapter 4: Hudson's Proposal (Part 2)

There are too many lessons from history; whenever there is an invasion from the Other World, rivers of blood are inevitable.

Whether or not the Continent of Aslante will fall, no one can say for sure. But the countries at the frontline are facing near-certain death.

"George, with things having reached this point, you must make changes.

To survive this ordeal, you must unite all available forces now.

Develop a set of standards: regardless of whether they are serfs or free citizens, as long as they earn military merits in the fight against demons, they can be granted noble titles.

Civilian armed forces must also be mobilized.

For example: killing a demon soldier can earn a dose of Life Essence.

Various cultivation resources, noble titles, and domains can all be part of the rewards.

Don't worry about international pressure; I will propose it to the Alliance Council in the name of the Human Marshal!"

Hudson said calmly.

He had wanted these reforms for a long time.

Due to the massive resistance, Hudson never spoke out, but secretly worked on it.

Now the time was ripe, and his stance was firm. It was time to show the world the commitment of the Human Marshal.

The proposal may still be met with curses and hostility from many nobles, but it will also garner much noble support.

As soon as the Demon Army is fought in a few battles, the nobles of the Moxi Kingdom will become supporters.

Back in the days, the military reform of the Alpha Kingdom succeeded solely due to the cooperation of the Orcs.

The situation in the Moxi Kingdom is similar now. If they follow Hudson's advice, integrating the kingdom's power still offers a glimmer of hope.

If there isn't a relaxation of restrictions on civilian power, the extraordinary power in the hands of Noble Lords will soon be depleted.

Once the Moxi Kingdom takes the lead, the Alpha Empire, which has already relaxed its restrictions, will not stand in the way.

As for what other countries will choose, Hudson does not know.

Anyway, once such a reform has a successful case, other countries, not wanting to be eliminated in competition, will have no choice but to follow suit.

The most optimistic scenario: all human nations conduct universal aptitude testing to cultivate as many Knights and Magicians as possible.

"Marshal, if this proposal is put forward, the pressure on you will be immense!"

Archduke Madelena reminded him nearby.

Hudson indeed had high prestige, but issues affecting people's immediate interests aren't solved by mere prestige.

If this were peacetime and such a suggestion was made, it'd be like waiting to become a street rat.

Even friends and family might immediately turn hostile.

"Madelena, the Abyss invasion seems coincidental, but it feels more like a ploy.

Instead of withdrawing from the continent, the Elf Race could have directly modified an island along the coast. This would have been easier than dividing the continent.

A project that could be completed in a few hundred years was dragged out by them for tens of thousands of years, it's unlike the brains of normal elves thought of this.

Even if one generation of elves was capricious, it shouldn't mean every generation lost their sense.

Even if they can't bear to abandon their homeland, they could reduce the land area.

The Elf Race has a limited population, why take away such a vast area?

In long-distance voyages, extra land is a pure burden.

Besides the Divine Spirit, who else can make them tread the dumbest path for tens of thousands of years without turning back?

The Elf God has calculations, and other Divine Spirits likely have backups too.

The fallen Kingdom of God probably has issues.

It's likely the seven Kingdoms of God surrounding the continent are coordinates connected to the Other World!"

Hudson's speculation startled everyone.

The plot of the Divine Spirits was too horrifying for many to even imagine.

Everyone harbored countless questions, but unfortunately, limited by their positions, they couldn't ask more.

Even Archduke Madelena was flabbergasted. She was the reincarnation of the Goddess of Calamity; discussing Divine Spirits' plots in front of her showed no reservation.

Compared to the crowd present, she indeed knew more, but that doesn't mean she'd reveal it.

These secrets were key in her quest for interests.

She worked hard to squeeze into the power center of the Alpha Empire, constantly expanding her influence to reap the final victory.

"Marshal, these issues can't be verified for now, we should return first!

The upcoming eradication battle against demons involves mobilizing millions of troops. If we don't return to oversee, it's hard for the court to unify positions swiftly."

Archduke Madelena's words made the high-ranking members of Moxi, wanting to persuade, instantly choose silence.

Keeping Hudson stationed for command is important, but reinforcements from Alpha Empire are equally crucial.

The current Alpha Empire isn't what it used to be: internal political factions are rampant, and the decision-making efficiency of the central government has drastically declined.

Without Hudson's urging, the senior officials on the court could argue from year-start to year-end.

...

The news of the Abyss invasion quickly spread across the continent, plunging all races into panic.

The cultists lying dormant swiftly became active, constantly spreading their teachings in an attempt to lure more fools to join.

Ula Mountains.

In an ancient, bizarre temple, a group of orcs were gathered for a secret meeting.

If observed closely, one would find their behaviors were quite different from typical orcs despite their appearances.

Out in the world, they had an unmistakable name—"Evil Spirits"!

The orcs in the temple were all unfortunate hosts.

"Gentlemen, the opportunity we've long awaited has finally arrived!

The Abyss invasion has all races preoccupied, the best time for us to expand our influence.

Quiet for so many years, it's time to settle scores with the Human Race!"

The Minotaur spoke first.

Life in remote mountains was tough, even feeding their followers was difficult, and the number of orcs they brought decreased rather than increased.

Even for the upper echelon, they couldn't enjoy life as human nobles did.

"Why rush, the master hasn't ordered yet!

Although the Kingdom of God's barrier has disappeared, opening the passage to the Sacred Realm still needs time.

The reincarnations of those Divine Spirits are starting to emerge on the continent.

They're probably planning to use us as stepping stones, attempting to reclaim their Divine Position."

The white-haired Tiger Clan member objected.

The Divine Spirits were plotting against them, and they were plotting against the Divine Spirits.

After being imprisoned in the Kingdom of God for countless years, revenge was always on their minds.

But facing such strong neighbors, and after numerous attempts over the past decades, all resulting in failure.

As failures piled up, their prestige plummeted.

Several academies within the Alpha Empire have labeled their occupied areas as testing grounds.

Countless students come each year to hunt orcs inside, gaining combat experience along the way.

Initially, they tried to fight back, to show some prowess.

Unfortunately, luck wasn't on their side, several times they were discovered by the human strongmen just as they made a move.

Not only failing to achieve any results, but also losing quite a few of their own.

With repeated failures, psychological shadows formed, and enthusiasm to retaliate against the Human Race waned.

"It is indeed unwise to act prematurely, at least not before Alpha Empire withdraws forces from the plains.

The Abyss invasion has just begun, we still have time, let them make the first move."

...

Hundred-Mile Corridor, in front of a tavern.

Upon hearing the news of the Elf Race's departure and the Abyss invasion, a white-clad girl muttered to herself:

"Those guys, they really have no patience, full of thoughts of reclaiming their Divine Position.

Don't they know that if the world consciousness can abandon the Divine Spirits once, it can do so a second, third time.

Rather than placing hope on reclaiming their Divine Position, it's better to continue cultivating, letting extraordinary power reside in oneself.

Especially when using coercive means to force the world consciousness to accept ascension, aren't they afraid of backlash?

…"

A string of complaints, seemingly inconspicuous, yet it unveiled a wealth of secret information.

If Hudson were here, many of his perplexities would be resolved.

...

Human Alliance Council.

Amid discussions on the Abyss invasion, Hudson's proposal set off an explosion in the session.

If Hudson's strategy were to be implemented, everyone's good days would be over.

The biggest trait of civilians is their massive base; once the numbers rise, continuous talents are born.

Without the monopoly advantage, some less-gifted nobles will quickly be eliminated.

Fortunately, Hudson isn't present; otherwise, saliva would be flying into his face.

This isn't just cutting off financial paths; it's essentially burying families' futures.

Every family has moments of poor luck; the probability of generation-after-generation talents is infinitely close to zero.
