Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven

Chapter 141: Golden Monk

Ved 4 POV

Thunder roared and lightning danced through the dark clouds like snakes. Spinning winds connected the heavens and the earth like towering pillars.

Above the dark clouds two humongous creatures battled each other. Their battle shook the sky, each flash of lightning casting their shadow upon the world below.

Humans screamed some marveled at the at the might of the beings above them. Ved retreated a kilometre away and glared at the creature before him.

This was the king of the Kaiju, Yamata No Orochi, a member of the hydra race, cousins or dragons but this was not a true hydra as a true hydra was a mythical grade beast with 8 heads.

However Ved's opponent only had 6 heads, symbolising it was only a heaven grade beast. However it was still the strongest heaven grade opponent he had ever faced.

Even stronger than old man Goldi, infact it was stronger than Ved's avatar. The only reason he had lasted so long against it is because of his regeneration trait.

Which brought another issue, one of Orochi's heads was capable of healing every wound on his body rapidly.

Because of that, it was impossible for either of them to defeat the other in a short term, their battle had lasted for 3 straight weeks, they had fought across all of Japan, leaving destruction in their wake.

Ved knew making this one submit without atleast using two hearts would be impossible, but each of his avatars was busy and he was not making Ved 1 leave the minor world, for safety reasons.

So why was he still fighting? Because it was fun, very fun. Without the risk of death he realised how much he actually enjoyed battle, the pain was nothing to him.

On the contrary it made the fight more enjoyable. He didn't even know of this side of himself, he figured it was probably suppressed by his fear of death.

But he knew, this was partially influenced by his dragon blood, which is the reason he was mostly fighting with his body but he still used his traits as well, they were just no longer his main means of fighting, except for body enhancing traits like herculean strength.

His body suddenly shifted and grew slightly larger. He grinned, this meant one of his avatars just recieved a large amount of evolution points at once.

' I have to say little snake, this is more enjoyable than I thought it would be.' Orochi laughed, his voice booming in Ved's mind.

' Back to you little lizard, you are strong, truly worthy of being mines rival. My life has been dull, for years I was drowning in boredom with nobody to offer me a challenge.

Those foolish weaklings, I could feel their envy and reverence for years, truly foolish, why would anybody envy such a dull life of loneliness? But you must understand my pain.

One as powerful as yourself must've stood at the pinnacle for so long, you must've been as lonely as I.' Ved laughed.

Orochi had lived his entire life in a minor world, weaker and smaller than Ved's minor world, it could only support a single rank 4 which unfortunately was him.

The spiritual beasts there worshipped him like a God for thousands of years so when the world awakened and the boundary of his minor world weakened.

He found hope, only to find the creatures outside were even weaker and more timid than the beasts in his world.

Ofcourse over the years, they had grown stronger but none had reached a level that could satisfy him. Even the strongest human in this place called Japan couldn't even break through his scales with their strongest attack.

Only a single rank 4 demonic beast rose over the years but it was so weak he killed it in only a single attack.

So when somebody like Ved showed up, he was really happy, happy to find a kindred spirit but he was about to be disappointed.

' I'm sorry to bust your bubble but I don't know anything about your pain.' Orochi frowned. ' I'm not that old, nor have I been strong for long and where I'm from, beings stronger than I exist.'

Orochi growled, ' Do you take me for a fool? Beings stronger than you? Who would believe such lies?' Orochi genuinely couldn't comprehend that, he had been the strongest for so long he couldn't conceive the idea of beings even stronger.

Unfortunately Orochi's vision was narrow, his minor world only had a small island and is surrounded by seas, he thought this world was the same and so he never bothered to leave Japan.

Ved grinned, ' Follow me and I'll show you a world beyond this tiny island.' Orochi roared, ' You want me to submit to you? Prove to me your strength first.'

One of Orochi's heads opened it mouth and fired a beam of fire. The sky turned red and the air boiled, flames covered the sky like rolling clouds.

The beam was too fast, it cut through the sky like a flaming javelin. Ved knew he couldn't dodge it in time and his body wouldn't be able to withstand either, not without sustaining serious injuries.

He created a huge white shield, the beam cut through it like a piece of paper, his wax and web were still somewhat weak against fire, that hasn't changed.

Although it barely managed to stop it for a moment, it bought Ved enough time to dodge. The beam passed by him, slightly brushing against his side.

His scales melted and his flesh seared immediately, he grimaced from the pain. The wound healed in a second.

Orochi's strength made Ved realise a misconception he held for a long time. He thought beings of the same rank and grade would be equally strong.

With him as the exception ofcourse. However he was wrong, cultivation rank and bloodline grade only accounts for quantity and quality of essence energy and the volume of will.

It does not take into account, the difference in physical strength, will density or innate abilities. Orochi had the same grade and rank as Goldi but he was much stronger.

Not even because of will, whether it be the density or volume of his will, it wasn't much stronger than Goldi but his body and abilities were

Ved responded to his attack in kind, he opened his mouth, his spikes glowed, lighting up the sky, energy gathered in his mouth then he fired it.

A blue beam of nuclear energy flew through the cloud like a spear heading straight for Orochi, although he was fast, his body was huge.

He was over a 100 metres long with a gigantic pair of leathery wings on his back. Orochi also new he wouldn't be able to dodge, one of his head roared.

A water screen appeared infront of him and blocked the nuclear beam. Steam roses and covered the sky like a white cloud as the beam burnt through water screen.

Orochi used that chance to dodge to the side but Ved redirected the beam to his position. Realising he wouldn't be able to dodge, he poured more essence energy into the screen.

Ved knew he was just wasting his nuclear energy at this point so he stopped firing the beam.

The water screen shifted and turned into thousands of long water spikes that blotted the sky.

Ved was not to be outdone, he created thousands upon thousands of swords, none smaller than two metres.

White swords faced the blue spikes, just as the two were about to attack, a bell sound echoed through the sky, a powerful yet holy aura washed over them.

" Namaste venerables, why don't you lay down your arms and seek the path of righteousness?" Both of them turned and saw a bald monk covered in blinding gold light floating on a leaf.

In the monk's hand was bowl, ' Who the fuck is this old geezer?'
