Before he could react a bolt of lightning descended upon him like a spear. It was fast, too fast.

All he saw was the world turning green then pain. His scales shattered without offering any resistance.

His flesh burnt and he coughed up blood. His blood spilled to the dark metallic floor below him forming a pool.

' Wha..what the hell was that?' Ved could barely think. His body was badly damaged, most of his scales on his back were gone and so were some of his spikes, he had a massive gaping wound there.

This was only the first lightning bolt, how was he supposed to handle the remaining 5. His regeneration trait healed his wounds rapidly.

Within seconds he was back up. Green lightning bolts swam through the pool cloud above like snakes on a lake.

They converged at the centre becoming stronger and stronger. Ved knew another bolt was coming.

He could still feel the residue of the last lightning bolt through his cells. He grinned, his body had absorbed the second order extinguishing tribulation lightning.

However the quantity was way too little, his current body couldn't absorb lightning of this high grade by much.

However even this little bit would be helpful in increasing his resistance to other lightning bolts of it type.

The lightning above became a massive green ball of electricity. Ved didn't waste a second and created a massive cocoon ten metres thick around his body.

Then the lightning bolt came. It was even faster than the first, somehow. However Ved was able to see it through his soul sense this time.

It descended like a green pillar 10 metres thick. The cocoon was pierced throughout like it was made of butter.

However it managed to slow it down for a split second. That was all the time Ved needed to counterattack.

He covered his fist in the first order extinguishing tribulation lightning and punched.

Although the first order extinguishing tribulation lightning was weaker than the second order extinguishing tribulation lightning.

It was also lightning of the heavens and contained the same laws as the second order extinguishing tribulation lightning.

When they met, the first order extinguishing tribulation lightning crumbled and backed off like prey seeing a predator.

However it still managed to reduce the power of the lightning bolt by a little. Ved's fist shattered on impact.

His entire arm went limb as every bone in it was crushed into dust. The lightning bolt continued to fry his insides driving him mad with pain then it disappeared.

His wounds healed quickly but his stamina was also being drained rapidly. At this rate he might not even be able to last until the last bolt.

The second lightning bolt's power was very close to a rank 5 casual attack though not exactly there but that still isn't something Ved can handle without injury.

Without his regeneration trait, he would've been forced to use his other trump cards early which would've made survival much harder later.

The only upside to this was that his image was yet to show up meaning he was not in life threatening danger yet but he doubted that would last for long.

A few seconds passed, giving him time to rest then the black lake above stood still. Then without warning a massive green beam hit him.

It connected the sky and the ground like a gigantic pillar. Ved tried to roar but his vocal cord turned to dust immediately.

His scales melted and fused with his body, his veins busted but instead of blood flowing out, red dust spilled to the ground.

His bones shattered one after the other yet his image still refused to reveal itself. While the pain was mind numbing he knew he wasn't going to die.

However knowing did nothing to ease his mind, after all he could feel his body breaking apart piece by piece.

The only upside was that, his organs were yet to be severely damaged. His scales had absorbed most of the damage saving him more pain.

The massive beam lasted for a few seconds then disappeared. He appeared lying on the ground, his breath was heavy and his body was barely recognisable.

He started regenerating, the melted scales fell off, the burnt flesh followed, turning into ash.

In a few seconds, all the burnt flesh and scales were gone. He was left bare, he looked like a mass of muscles and veins.

He looked like a horror film monster if he ever saw one. If it wasn't for his regeneration trait, he would've died.

' The Gods are really trying to kill my poor self, what sin have I committed to you oh mighty ones above.' he really lamented his fate, for one as kind, loving, respectful and great as himself to suffer so, the Gods were truly unjust.

Then the scales grew back covering his body like black armour. He stood up, although his bones had regenerated, they were still not as strong as they normally were.

If another bolt hit him as he was right now, he was afraid he wouldn't be able to handle it. He looked up and there was no sign of any lightning bolt falling.

However there was no sign before as well and look what happened. He frowned, ' Something feels wrong.'

The aura from the clouds changed, grew stronger and Ved felt like somebody or something was watching him through them.

The others felt it too. " Why?" Nimue whispered with fear, she knew what's happening, she held her husband's hand with a grip so tight it could shatter mountains.

Although it was painful he didn't stop her or even flinch. He looked at the clouds with a grim face as well.

Ved immediately activated his soul force, he conjured tens of shields and nuclear energy gathered and condensed in his mouth.

Lightning gathered above him, he was glad it didn't just fall without warning like before but the amount gathering in the clouds was a bit too much.

The lightning continued growing until a massive 50 metres wide ball of lightning hovered in the clouds directly above him.

The lightning ball moved, he thought it was attacking and placed his shields above him to block but no lightning came.

He looked up and saw something more chilling. The lightning started stretching like a rope, it shifted taking a familiar shape.

The others looked at the lightning dragon with peculiar expressions, Ursela opened her mouth and closed it. " Okay the kid is officially dead." Novak said, Nimue glared at him with eyes that could kill.

Ved's mouth was wide open as well. ' A living tribulation? Dear Zeus and Thor, with all the due respect I have UP YOURS.' as if it heard him, the tribulation dragon roared and attacked.
