Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven

Chapter 184: Mourning Snow

After her tribulation, Naledi rushed back home. She had a terrible feeling like somebody was ripping her guts out.

She flew back as fast as she could, unfortunately her cultivation was still unstable as she has just recently broke through.

It would take time for her body and soul to adjust to her new realm. During that time she won't be able to use either her essence or image.

She was severely weakened. Normally she would be in seclusion to stabilise her realm but her instincts told her something terrible was coming.

As she got closer to her city she stopped in the air. Cat and the others appeared next to her.

" What's happening? Why'd we stop?" Cat asked. Naledi did not answer. Her body shook with anxiety from what she was seeing.

----------------------------------------------------------

The orc leader Ogaba walked out of the mist. Everywhere around him was a land of frozen ice.

He knew immediately this ice was unnatural, after all he could see beasts frozen like statues.

However that did not matter to him though he was a bit surprised that this world would have anybody that powerful.

He led his army into this frozen land, after marching for some time they saw a city surrounded by tall walls in the distance.

On the west side of the city was a massive army frozen beasts, standing like an art gallery of ice. It looked beautiful, even Ogaba stood to appreciate the beauty.

Then he turned his attention towards the city. On the walls he could see humans patroling the perimeter.

He frowned, " Humans." His subordinates tensed up when hearing that name. Unlike him they couldn't see the tiny figures on the wall.

After all, the city was still too far away, it's only because he was so strong and his senses were so high that he could.

However knowing this world belonged to humans changed things a bit. He could no longer act on his own, not without consulting the Boragg.

Humans were one of the most feared races in the universe due to a single behemoth, the Eternal Dawn Empire.

The Eternal Dawn Empire was very protective of humans and it ruler was a confirmed sovereign.

If it found out any organisation was enslaving humans, whoever they were, they would disappear overnight.

There were very few races that could challenge the Eternal Dawn Empire and his was not one of them.

He knew this was now beyond his pay grade. " Sir, what are your orders?" His subordinates asked.

" We turn back for now." They retreated back to the mist.

----------------------------------------------------------

Naledi watched everything with confusion, she had expected them to attack. She then flew straight to her city.

She had to either prepare for their attack or evacuate everybody. As soon as she arrived, Aira reported everything that happened.

Naledi knew things were going to get rough. " Prepare for an evacuation." She said with urgency. " What?" Aira asked dumbfounded.

However Naledi wasn't kidding, with her unstable realm, she knew she couldn't defeat that massive red skinned man, it was better to run for now.

----------------------------------------------------------

Ogaba retuned to his world to personally report to the Boragg. The Boragg looked at him contemplatively.

" No matter, proceed with the attack." Ogaba didn't question the order and left. Abaro appeared silently behind the Boragg Orkarro.

" Are you sure this is wise my Boragg?" He turned to look at his wife. " I do not know, however I feel drawn to that world, I believe it holds the key to my breakthrough." He sounded excited.

She drew closer, " But what about the Eternal Dawn Empire? Will this not anger them?"

He sighed, " It will but we're vassals of the Ahnunaki, I don't believe the empire will start a conflict with the Ahnunaki for a minor world."

" That's assuming the Ahnunaki will protect us." She said softly but he could hear the worry in her voice.

He came closer and kissed her forehead, " They will, I'm a creation realm expert, I believe I'm valuable even to the Ahnunaki.

Besides, the Ahnunaki are a prideful race who see themselves as Gods, I doubt they would tolerate one of their possessions being destroyed by another.

Even if only to save face, they will protect us." " Possessions huh." Abaro said mockingly. Orkarro looked at her and sighed, that's why he was so eager to break through so they can be free again.

" At least we're not a conquered race." He said. "What's the difference?" She whispered as she turned to leave.

Vassals were different from conquered races, vassals are those who willingly submitted themselves to a stronger race for protection.

In exchange they would pay a tribute to their protectors and also do some mandatory tasks.

Every 500 years, Orkarro would have to go to the front lines and defend against the outer beasts, that was his mandatory task.

However the task was incredibly dangerous, outer beasts were different from Vermin. Vermin were creations of the Nameless but outer beasts were independent creatures of the void.

They were mindless dreadful things that sought nothing but destruction. The good this is, they can't open spatial cracks directly into the universe like the Nameless.

They can only come in through the cracks in the universal barrier, so everybody knows where they would come in from and could intercept them.

Orkarro sighed thinking about it, his 500 year break was drawing near and he would have to leave his wife for 50 years.

Then he issued commands, a massive army of orcs and slave races like the Aqvols stood outside the city ready to march on his word.

----------------------------------------------------------

Back on Earth, Naledi rushed to evacuate her people intending to lead them north. They were very confused but still listened to her.

However the gut ranching feeling didn't leave her. Even the others started noticing there was something wrong with her.

" Are you okay sweetie?" Cathra asked with worry. Naledi turned and looked at her with sadness.

" They're coming and I can't stop them." Even though she can't use it, her own image whispered she would fail. She felt her Ruler's Authority try to activate on it own.

That meant she was going to fail on her main goal, it was inevitable. Worse was that her moniker stirred, for the first time it actually stirred.

This brought a wave of fear to her heart, her moniker of Mourning Snow was her destiny and it was going to fulfil itself. She was going to lose somebody close to her.

Glistening tears fell down her eyes like beautiful ice crystals. Her friends surrounded her.

" What the hell you're worrying about? We just got to punch those bastards back where they came from, like always." Cat said with a grin.

Naledi smiled softly, " Yeah, like always." She replied.
