Beast Evolution System: Devourer of Heaven

Chapter 193: Invasion Begins

Cat noticed the ice covering her body, she tried to break it and shake it off but it was hard.

So she dragged her heavy body forward. Crawling on her knees and shivering from the cold.

Eventually she reached Naledi who was looking down again sobbing. " It's so cold and lonely." She whispered between her sobs.

Cat felt an overwhelming sadness hit her. Not just because of the snowstorm's influence.

Hearing the pain in her friends voice truly hurt her. She felt herself losing consciousness again.

She leaned forward and wrapped her arms around Naledi. Then her eyes started closing on their own.

" I should've worn a jacket." She whispered jokingly. The last thing she heard was a soft voice filled with sadness whispering her name in confusion.

Cat fainted. Naledi's eyes regained clarity. She looked at her friend who had turned into an ice statue then the soul damage caught up to her.

A wave of mind numbing pain hit her at once then she fainted too. After she lost consciousness, the snowstorm started dying out.

In a few minutes it was entirely gone. Aira looked at the two of them and sighed. Cat was covered in ice and Naledi lay there unconscious.

But she could sense they were both still alive. Although she appeared fine, the truth was Ndu's death deeply hurt as well.

She couldn't image losing two more friends in a single day. She turned to look at Haruko,he stood there unmoving.

Except those outside the barrier, he had the most ice around his body. Ndu's death hit him the hardest.

The orc army had it worse, every single one of them had turned into ice statues. She couldn't detect any life signs from them.

Then she looked at Ndu, he stood there frozen. Even in death he refused to fall. However she noticed the difference between him and the others.

He did not look like an ice statue like the orc army. Instead the ice formed a blue crystalline coffin around him.

The coffin was perfect as if carved by a professional. She turned to the unconscious Naledi and sighed.

She woke up the army, she had knocked them all out to stop them from being frozen by their sorrows.

She issued orders, they rushed to grab Cat and Naledi. Cathra used vines to grab Ndu's coffin and they left.

Inside the city, all that was left were frozen corpses of thousands. Sad as it was, she didn't have the time to focus on them.

The teleportation formation was broken and fixing it would take too long. They had to reach the next formation which was a week away before teleporting to the safe bunker.

----------------------------------------------------------

After they left.

A group of spiritual beasts appeared on the battlefield. They saw the corpses on the ground and the army of frozen orcs.

The group was led by two rank 4 beasts, an owl and a buffalo. The buffalo was from the same herd as the bovine king.

They were both in their humanoid forms. The owl still retained his wings and his head was that of an owl.

The buffalo looked like a black minotaur. Spiritual beasts in general always retained part of their beast selves when using the transformation technique unless necessary.

This not only needs less essence to maintain the form, it also helps them retain a part of themselves even after the transformation.

They stood Infront of the orc army. " Should we report this?" The owl asked. The minotaur nodded.

He summoned a void pigeon, wrote a message and sent it away. Just as the pigeon left, they head the sound of something cracking.

They turned she saw the ice layer around one of the orcs crack. The moment it did, a tremendously powerful aura leaked out.

They froze for a moment then reacted, both of them turned around to run abandoning their squad.

Before they could even more a few metres away the ice shattered sending fragments flying like bullets.

They turned to look but the orc had disappeared. The next moment he appeared Infront of them like a blur.

Before they could react he grabbed both their faces and slammed them on the ice below.

The ice cracked and they felt like they were losing consciousness but they managed to keep it together.

Each used their abilities. Winds slashed at the orc when the owl flapped his wings. The buffalo created a massive boulder above them.

The boulder was hundreds of metres in diameter. It fell towards them like a meteor. The orc did not even react as the two attacks hit him.

The two beasts felt a wave of fear grip their hearts when they realised their attacks weren't effective against their enemy.

" Now then, you two will answer my questions honestly and I might let you live." He grinned at them.

Ogaba understood that beasts were selfish creatures by nature. Although not wild like demonic beasts, they still followed their instincts more honestly than most spiritual races.

There was nothing they valued more than their own lives. As long as he promised them he would let them live he was certain they would comply.

What Ogaba did not account for was single unique being. The spiritual beasts under Ved's domain were beyond loyal to him, they outright worshipped him.

They would rather kill themselves than betray their king. He had instilled the values of loyalty and the importance of future generations to them.

The idea of unity, taught them that as long as the beast kingdom lives, so will they. To them, protecting the younger generation mattered more than anything.

And they understood the only person who can ensure the prosperity of that future and make sure their descendants roam the world with pride was their wise king.

As the orc expected them to talk, the minotaur spit on his face and smiled. " Go burn in Tartarus."

Ogaba wiped the spit on his face. Then he smiled and crushed the minotaur's head killing him immediately.

He turned to the owl expecting to see fear but what met him were cold eyes filled with determination.

He knew this owl would not talk either. He killed him as well. Ogaba stood up and clicked his tongue in annoyance then proceeded to kill the entire beast squad.

He looked at his dead army. " The Boragg will not like this." He whispered then ran back to his world.

----------------------------------------------------------

The bovine king received the letter, after reading it he crumbled it. " Send word to lady Avery." He sat on his throne awaiting the return of his nephew, not knowing he was dead.

However nobody knew but in the next few days, the entire world would be plunged into chaos.
