The crescent flame slash was diverted and before anybody could react, it cut through both armies and headed straight for the City.
Naledi's mind went blank, she couldn't react in time and the slash cut through the huge city walls like hot knife through butter.
What followed were screams of pain and fear that echoed on her soul like bells. " Why?" She whispered softly.
" Why did I fail?" She blames herself, if only she had released her essence faster even at the cost of her life.
Maybe she could've taken him down with her. She fell on her knees, tears that sparkled like stardust fell down her eyes.
A blue aura ignited around her body like flames that blazed to the sky. The temperatures dropped rapidly.
She looked at where Cat was standing. There was a massive ravine with rivers of lava there.
Cat could be seen standing Infront of her mother who was balling her eyes out. Infront of them stood a massive figure with broad shoulders.
It was Ndu, at the last second he had used his ability. ( The All Guard.) It allowed him to teleport Infront of whoever he wants to protect.
Strong as he was, he couldn't withstand an attack of that level. His vessel, the massive shield lay on side dented.
His left side was gone and they could see his organs. He was dead, Ndu was dead and it was her fault.
Cat and the others stood there frozen. Haruko shook, his katana fell to the ice with a clank.
Ndu was his best friend and he was a reliable guy. Of everybody, he never thought he would be the one to die first.
Suddenly they all felt the temperature drop but they were too stunned to care. " It's cold."
They heard a familiar voice whisper. Everybody turned to look and saw Naledi sitting down hugging her knees and rocking her body.
" It's so cold." She touched her chest, right above her heart "And it's hurt, so deeply." They all heard the world whisper to them.
(Tears of the Mourning Princess .) They knew instinctively that was her current state.
This was the true form of her moniker. True monikers didn't just represent ones fate, in her case, it was her destiny to lose loved ones.
They also represented ones true self. Cat knew Naledi best, she was strong. The strongest woman she knew and not just physically.
Even before the fall, she had always been the strong reliable friend of the two. However there was one thing she couldn't handle.
The loss of a loved one. Naledi cared about people in general and every death pained her but losing a close friend or family was different.
It breaks her, had Cat not been there. She was certain Naledi would've died of hunger or devoured by beasts because she couldn't even lift a spoon let alone run for weeks after Alex disappeared.
Nobody knew this as her and her mother made the effort to hide it but while people died left and right.
Naledi couldn't even move, as beasts roamed about destroying everything. She was like a walking zombie.
And when she finally came out of it, she had no memory of the last few weeks. Cat was also deeply saddened by Ndu's death.
However she had to keep it together or she would lose another friend. Before anybody could react.
The orc leader lunged at Naledi. She didn't even react. " NOOOOOOOO." Cat screamed and puffed a fog of alcohol his way.
However she was too weak to stop him. Just as his axe was about to split apart her head, snow blew out of her.
The orc leader flew back faster than he came at her. A snowstorm spread out from Naledi covering tens of kilometres in a split second.
Aira immediately created a massive dome to provide shelter for the humans but she knew it wouldn't last.
The barrier was already starting to freeze over. They watched as Naledi disappeared through the snowstorm.
A deep feeling of lose surged in everybody's hearts. The snowstorm grew stronger and as it did, everybody felt the sorrow through it.
Tears started streaming down their eyes uncontrollably. Slowly everybody started freezing over.
Aira the only one who was still cool headed noticed this. However she was lost, knowing didn't mean she can stop it.
How can she remove the sorrows from everybody's hearts, eventually she decided to knock them all out. " She's dying." Cat whispered in a voice filled with sadness.
" She's dying mom." She looked at her mother with tears streaming down her eyes. " I have to get to her." Before anybody could react, she was already out the dome.
As soon as she did, she realised the difference. A layer of ice appeared on her skin immediately.
However that wasn't the terrifying part. She felt a massive wave of sadness overcome her.
Every single heartbreak, sorrow she had ever felt came back at once. She also felt the pain inside Naledi's heart and realised how deep it was.
It wasn't just something recent due to the death of Ndu. It's something she had always carried.
Pain and fear. She understood her moniker more than anybody. She knew losing the people she loved was inevitable.
Which is why she prefers taking most of the burden herself. At the same time, she understood she couldn't fight alone.
She tried to act cold and keep others away to prevent bonding with more people but it was hard, she cared, she couldn't help caring.
This created a sense of confusion inside her. With each step, the sorrow in her heart grew but with each step she came closer to her friend.
The closer she got the stronger the snowstorm. Cat realised the snow was trying to make her succumb.
If she succumbed to her sorrows and despair then she would fall and turn into an ice statue.
She couldn't allow that. She pulled out her gourd and tilted it. Out came white wine, this wine was not special in any way.
It only ability was getting whoever drank it so drunk they forget all sorrows. She called it the therapy of drunks.
It was perfect for this situation. She continued moving forward with unsteady steps and flushed cheeks.
Even the effects of her wine would not last long under this storm. The sorrows in the snow were too strong, they were drowning her.
She continued until she saw her sitting down crying. As her tears fell, they turned into snow and floated away, they were the snowstorm.
As Cat drew closer, Naledi didn't even raise her head. She didn't seem to even see that she was there.
She came closer and closer. Her steps grew slower and slower as ice covered her body. She found it harder to move.
Her knees gave in and she knelt down. Tears kept falling down from her eyes like rivers. The snowstorm was starting to overwhelm her.
Her eyes grew heavier and things became blurry. " Who...are you?" She was suddenly woken up by a soft voice filled with confusion.
