Everybody went out and they looked up. Ved frowned, above them the sky was covered by a black cloud.
The cloud moved and fell to the earth, the entire cloud stretching to the horizon was made of crickets.
" PROJECT THE FIELDS." he roared. Everybody rushed to Evergreen's mountain range.
Her subordinates had already activated the protection formation stopping the cricket outside.
However Ved noticed they were eating through the essence slowly weakening the barrier.
" How terrifying." He whispered then fired a nuclear blast. It exploded amidst the crickets killing millions of them.
However something even more terrifying happend. They opened their tiny mouths sucking in the ambient essence energy.
Then used it to multiple themselves, in a split second they had replenished their numbers.
However he noticed something strange, he couldn't bring certain since he didn't count them but it appeared as if they stopped multiplying the moment they reached a certain number.
He could bet a thousand spirit stones that number was equal to the one they had initially.
Before he could attack again, a lightning bolt shot out like a spear behind him. It electrocuted thousands of them.
However it was even less effective than his own attack. The cricket consumed the lightning bolt itself to replenish themselves.
' Essence.' he figured Avery was correct, they consumed the essence energy in attacks to replenish their numbers.
Then they continued eating through the barrier, Ved growled, he couldn't allow them to destroy such hard work.
Two beams of lghtning and nuclear energy shot out from his horns and exploded amidst them.
A wave of fire and lightning spread out killing thousands each second. Before they could replenish themselves he fired more nuclear blasts.
He kept firing nuclear blastd one after another. " Stop." He told the others to stop attacking.
Their attacks contained essence and helped the crickets instead. He kept using nuclear blasts.
Nuclear blast was not a powerful technique compared to others. By his estimate it only had about the power of an actual nuclear bomb from his past life.
The reason he kept using it is simple. It required less nuclear energy and was an explosive type attack.
It had a wide range, for weak enemies like those crickets who depended on large numbers, it was the perfect technique.
He eventually cleared a path then they entered the fields. Evergreen took over the formation eye.
With her controlling it, the formation grew many times stronger. The crickets found it harder to eat through it.
However they were still able to. Ved was less worried now and kept firing nuclear blasts after nuclear blasts.
The sky turned blue as clouds of fire filled the air. While he was killing crickets he heard a squeaking sounds.
" Shit rats." They looked as at him. " Protect the cities." He heard the rats running underground.
Countless rats running towards the highest gathering of lifeforms. Rats carried diseases, in a situation like this where diseases were everywhere.
Them and mosquitoes. ' Mosquitoes.' it dawned on him. They might also arrive of they're not here already.
" Tell everybody to hide indoors and lock everything." White nodded, she took her brigade and went to protect the central city."
Novak and others also left to defend other cities. He turned his attention towards his most immediate opponents.
The crickets seemed to have gained a new source of power. They multiplied even faster than he can kill them.
Realising his nuclear blasts were not enough he opened his mouth. Out came a pitch black cloud of poison.
The moment it appeared the trees and crops bent as if trying to hide. The black cloud floated up and out of the barrier.
It reached the crickets. The moment it touched them they disintegrated into black ash one by one.
The black death miasma continued killing the crickets. They tried to multiply but it was slow, very very slow.
Essence itself seemed to burn when touched by his black death miasma. ' It's stronger.'
He realised after his regeneration, all of his traits grew stronger or perhaps it's because of the enhancement of his dragon image.
The true image had the effect of permanently enhancing his body by a certain margin.
Since his traits were parts of his body, it would make sense for them to grow stronger as well.
He couldn't be certain. However it did not matter because right now, it was destroying the crickets faster than they can regenate.
However he somehow felt the burning of essence was not the only reason, it was as if his black death was effecting their ability to regenate.
He couldn't explain it since the feeling was too faint. Then they came but unfortunately for them, they came to the wrong place.
A cloud of mosquitoes came behind the crickets. They fearlessly jumped to the cloud of black death miasma.
Then like the crickets they started decaying and crumbling into black ash in a blink of an eye.
However the more of them that died the more the black death miasma was consumed.
He realised at this rate, this single cloud will not be enough for every cricket and mosquito here.
He released another cloud, the two swarms tried their best to consume the black death miasma but died the moment they touch it.
Ved wished he could also use it to kill the rats but sending black death miasma to the cities was very dangerous.
One mistake and he would kill someone. He continued using it to destroy the two swarms trying to enter the fields.
He didn't understand why mosquitos were here, shouldn't they target the cities as well. Then he looked out.
Far in the distance he saw a much much larger cloud of mosquitoes, multiple of them infact targeting the cities.
He clicked his tongue in annoyance, ' They'll take care of it.' he could already see White's dancing through them with her lightning.
Unlike the crickets, the mosquitoes didn't seem to consume essence to multiple themselves.
He turned his attention back to his own swarms and saw them dwindling until they were eventually gone.
' Quite annoying little things aren't they.' he flapped his wings about to fly off. " Are you like me?" He heard a feminine voice next to him.
