Murder
84
Lúcia thought she had suffered enough; that after everything she had been through, nothing more could shake her.
Truth be told, she had been broken many times her father, her mother, her brother, and even herself; she felt she had lost each of them, metaphorically of course and almost literally.
All the events she had endured had shattered her countless times, but she convinced herself that everything would be resolved in the end; even when she had been kidnapped, she somehow hoped that everything would work out.
Lúcia saw her brother holding a dagger and driving it into his chest her only brother had just committed suicide right in front of her, and the worst part was that he had done it to save her.
Lúcia slipped from the killer's hands and fell, sitting back on her knees; she saw her brother lying there, apparently dead, blood running from his chest and staining the floor red.
She could not believe her eyes how was this happening to her? What had she done for only bad things to happen in her life?
Her vision blurred; the world in her eyes seemed red. She brought her hand to her face and then realized that it was not tears flowing from her eyes but blood.
She wanted to scream or to get up to kill the killer and take justice into her own hands, but she could not do any of the things she thought she should.
Lúcia was trembling and sobbing, unable to do anything else; her world was spinning, reality seemed to be breaking right before her eyes Lúcia was broken.
The killer let the girl slip from his arms; to him, she represented no danger at all.
The figure in black was stunned; he had no idea it would be so easy to complete his mission.
The professor was a legendary figure in the world of hunters, and this fact had made him believe that his son would be nothing less than extraordinary and the vice leader of the Blue Spirit Guild had warned him to be careful.
The assassin pushed his thoughts aside. He would cut off Alex's head to avoid casualties and kill the girl to prevent future problems.
He then kicked the girl to the side. Seeing that she did not react, the assassin continued toward Alex but then he stopped in his tracks.
His danger sense flared in his mind. He frowned beneath the mask and scanned his surroundings. Finding nothing, he decided to finish this as quickly as possible.
When he took another step, the alarm inside his head triggered again. He then looked at the girl, who remained motionless, only sobbing and trembling.
When the assassin looked back to where Alex should have been, he was startled Alex was gone.
He turned to the other side and saw Alex helping his sister. How? the assassin wondered, astonished. He could not believe his eyes the poison he had coated the dagger with was enough to kill an elephant.
"You all right?"
Alex held his sister, lifting her head so their eyes met. She seemed to be in a trance, unable to see whatever was right before her.
Alex felt his heart sink as he saw the blood streaming from his sister's eyes there was no life reflected in the girl's dark pupils.
"Lúcia, I'm here. I'm fine."
Alex pulled his sister into an embrace and spoke softly into her ear. The girl seemed to react a little to her brother's voice, yet still remained trapped in her trance.
Alex's body shone with a blinding purple light, and two figures appeared right before him.
Long white hair, violet-tinted skin, and black armor the first knight had taken form. At her side stood an imposing warrior clad in black armor, with purple skin and vibrant blue hair.
Alex had summoned his two knights. He turned to the first and gave his command.
"Protect her with everything you have. Don't let anyone get close to my mother and sister. Guard this house as if you were protecting me myself."
The knight did not respond, but Alex knew his order had been received exactly as it was given. The knight raised his hand, and a spear materialized within it.
Alex fell to his knees. He quickly opened his storage and grabbed some of the potions left from his previous mission, drinking them one after another.

Alex threw the potion bottle to the ground; they weren't working anyway.
"Felix, are you there, my friend?"
Alex put his hand to his intercom and contacted the only person who came to mind.
"Your Majesty, why are you calling me so late? Shouldn't you be resting or something?"
Félix's voice sounded curious and full of energy over the intercom.
"I was attacked I'm dying,"
Alex said, coughing.
"What?" Félix's voice sounded stunned.
"An assassin attacked my house, I was poisoned and the potions aren't working."
"An assassin? I'll send cyborgs to you is the assassin there? Are you fighting him?"
Alex heard Félix shouting a few words to someone else while speaking to him, but he didn't catch what was said.
"The assassin fled a few seconds ago, I'm going after him." Alex coughed up a considerable amount of blood.
"I'll go after him." Alex finished his words.
"Your Majesty, you should stay there and wait for help to arrive; hang on two minutes and she'll be there." Félix shouted urgency in his words.
"Your Majesty."
"Your Majesty, are you there?"
"Answer, Your Majesty."
Félix shouted several times into the intercom but received no reply.
It was survival instinct the killer couldn't say when or why he was running for his life.
