The monster made of bone skidded to a stop a few meters away from Aron, its skeletal claws digging into the ground.
It stared at the thundercloud gathering above his head, trembling with an emotion that could only be described as fear.
Its blazing eyes were fixed on the sky, on the storm that churned and cracked, each bolt of lightning dancing with mysterious laws.
At the same time, the robed baby who had been watching Aron meditate in awe turned its gaze toward the skeletal giant.
Surprise flickered across its chubby face.
Without warning, the baby vanished, reappearing only a few feet in front of the bone creature.
"Tenebris… long time no see," the baby said, Its soft cheeks jiggled slightly with every word, adding an almost comical touch to its tone.
Tenebris turned its head just enough to glance at the baby before its burning gaze returned to Aron.
The thundercloud above rumbled louder, power surging through the air.
"So the Noise Makers' king finally crawls out of its pitiful slumber," Tenebris said coldly.
"Here to salvage what remains of your pathetic race again, are you?"
Its voice echoed like clashing stones, though its jaw never moved.
The creature's fiery gaze remained locked on the glowing bead in Aron's hand.
Flames flared within its sockets, yet it didn't dare move closer.
The baby only tilted its head, utterly unbothered.
"What brings you here, bonehead?" it asked, its childish voice at odds with its ancient tone.
Tenebris ignored the insult.
"Is that one of yours? Your last hope Perhaps?" the skeletal creature asked, its gaze still fixed on Aron.
"What do you care?" the baby replied, raising a brow.
Tenebris finally turned to face it fully, the light in its sockets burning brighter.
"You're out of your energy-saving state" it said, voice dripping with disdain.
"You've lost your kingdom. your the last and only hope of your race, With your current lifeforce you can at most live upto sixty years. Even at the level of a familiar Emperor king, no one dares to take your kind as familiars anymore. You're too weak."
It motioned toward Aron. "That human, he's your race's last desperate hope, isn't he? Assuming he survives that tribulation that is."
Its gaze lifted to the storm above, a storm unlike any it had ever seen.
Even Tenebris couldn't hide a hint of awe.
The power radiating from that storm was something it had never witnessed before.
It was certain it could survive such divine wrath.
"And if by some miracle your little hope manages to survive," Tenebris growled, "I'll erase his soul and turn his body into one of my undead, for daring to steal from Tenebris."
The fire in its eyes flared, filled with ruthless intent.
The baby's tiny hands balled into fists.
"You'd kill him if he survives? Are you really planning to betray my race? To repay the favor we gave yours with ungratefulness?"
It voice grew louder, trembling with outrage.
"Did your race forget? If not for me, if not for my race, who shared our life force with yours for centuries, you'd have turned to dust long ago! No one was willing to take you as familiars then. You were branded as omens of death! Did your kind forget that debt? Did you forget it?"
For the first time, anger showed on the baby's face.
Tenebris stared down at it, silent for a long moment before speaking in a low, hollow tone. "Do you even know how long you've been hibernating?"
It leaned forward slightly, bones creaking.
"Let me enlighten you. One billion, two thousand, one hundred and fourteen days. That's how long you've been asleep. Do you think you could've survived that long, with how so many clans despised you and your entire clan? You'd have been erased instantly if not for me, Tenebris."
Its voice deepened, resonating like thunder in a cave.
"You and your foolish race would have vanished forever, the moment your hibernation was discovered. But guess who stopped that?"
Its eyes flared with purple light. "That's right. It was my race, and I, Tenebris, who prevented your extinction for two billion years. So don't talk to me about debts. Your race owes me."
The baby opened its mouth..."I- I-"
BOOOOOOOM!
A deafening thunderclap split the sky, cutting the baby off.
The storm above Aron roared, expanding until it felt like the heavens themselves were collapsing.
The lightning grew denser, angrier, alive with divine wrath.
BOOOOOOM! Thunder...!!! BOOOOOOM!
"What is the kid doing?!" the baby shouted, instinctively backing away. Even Tenebris took a wary step back as they both stared at the meditating human.
They watched as his lips moved.
Then his eyes opened, brimming with radiant light.
"My authority… is absolute."
His calm voice echoed through the storm.
"My authority is unmatched."
"My authority is..."
He lifted his hand toward the heavens, his glowing avatar moving in perfect synchrony.
"...the Way of Life."
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A blinding flash swallowed the world. The heavens trembled. Lightning struck like judgment itself.
