His master had been in seclusion for several decades, accumulating experience layer by layer. With such foundations, his breakthrough to the Supreme realm was only a matter of time.
It was expected.
"Solara," Ethan said calmly, "take the elders and leave the Demon Sealing Cave first."
"Okay, Daddy." Solara nodded obediently.
Old Ghost Athen scratched his chin and glanced sideways.
"You've got a child now—where's the child's mother?"
"Yes, yes," another elder chimed in with a grin.
"Bring the girl out and let us have a look."
Ethan shook his head lightly. "You elders are joking. I adopted Solara. But to me, she is no different from my biological daughter."
"I see…"
Elder Azel and the others nodded knowingly. They did not pry further and followed Solara out of the eighteenth floor.
Soon, only Ethan remained.
The silence deepened.
Beneath his feet, the ancient stone slabs began to tremble.
Streaks of dense demonic energy seeped out from the cracks, thick and viscous like ink, carrying with them flickers of dark demon flame. The demonic energy surged upward, rolling violently toward the two sealed stone gates, clearly attempting to interfere with the breakthroughs occurring inside.
Ethan's expression did not change.
He lifted his hand.
Two streaks of Pure Azure Flame shot out and hovered before the gates like sentinels.
The moment demonic energy and demon flame touched the azure fire, they were annihilated—completely erased, leaving not even residue.
"So he's still alive…" Ethan murmured softly, eyes narrowing.
"And he's already reached the Ninth-Turn Mahayana."
A brief pause.
"…I see."
He withdrew his perception.
With a single thought, his figure vanished.
When he reappeared, he was deep underground.
This was the true core of the Demon Sealing Cave.
The prison of Azraeth V'khorath.
The Four Elephants Prison Formation was still operating, its ancient patterns glowing faintly. It was being sustained by the massive amount of spiritual stones and crystals Ethan had left behind years ago.
But time spared nothing.
Ten years.
The stones were nearly exhausted.
Ethan stepped forward and stopped before a stone cave.
Inside, Azraeth V'khorath sat cross-legged. His sky-blue skin was covered in dense, twisted demonic Patterns. His eyes were shut, his aura heavy and oppressive.
Sensing a presence, he frowned and spoke coldly without opening his eyes.
"Who dares come down here? Seeking death?"
"Old demon," Ethan replied with a light smile, "open your eyes and take a good look at who I am."
The voice was calm.
Familiar.
Azraeth's eyes snapped open.
For a split second, disbelief froze his face.
"…Ethan?!"
"You're actually back," he snarled, shock quickly twisting into hatred.
"Didn't I say it already? Next time you return, I will take your spiritual fire!" Ethan spoke.
"Hahahahaha!"
Azraeth suddenly burst into wild laughter.
"You couldn't kill me back then even with all those formations. Now I've reached the peak of Mahayana—what can you possibly do to me?"
"In a few more days, I'll break this formation completely. When that happens, your Azure Origin Dao Sect will be wiped out!"
His laughter was ferocious, madness and cruelty overflowing.
For years, he had imagined this moment—ripping Ethan apart, peeling his skin, drinking his blood.
"I was worried I wouldn't find you after breaking free," Azraeth continued, eyes glowing.
"Since you've come yourself, I'll graciously accept it."
Ethan listened quietly.
Then he chuckled.
"The broken immortal weapon in the Demon Sealing Cave is useless now. The formation weakened. You absorbed the essence of the demons imprisoned here and forced your breakthrough—barely stabilizing yourself."
He looked at Azraeth indifferently.
"Your power is mixed and chaotic. Your realm is unstable."
"Am I right?"
Azraeth's pupils shrank.
For the first time, unease crept into his heart.
He hadn't expected Ethan to see through everything at a glance.
"Haha! So what if you know?" Azraeth roared.
"You've only practiced physical cultivation for a bit over ten years. How far could you have gone?!"
"Killing you will be easy!"
"Yeah?" Ethan sneered.
A terrifying aura began to spread from his body.
Azraeth's face changed drastically.
His eyes widened.
His pupils trembled violently.
"S–Supreme?!"
"How is this possible?! You're a physical cultivator—how could you reach the Supreme realm in just over ten years?!"
"This is impossible! The complete inheritance of physical cultivation belongs to my demon clan!"
His voice cracked.
Denial filled his expression.
"Haha," Ethan laughed softly.
"Physical cultivation belongs to your demon clan?"
"Then today," he said calmly, "I'll show you what true physical cultivation looks like."
He extended his palm.
For the first time, fear surged uncontrollably in Azraeth's heart.
Earth demons were said to be immortal.
But that immortality was conditional.
Before a being whose realm far surpassed his own, even an earth demon could be erased—body and soul annihilated without residue.
"Hmph!" Azraeth forced a sneer.
"So what if you're Supreme? Earth demons are immortal! Killing me is nothing but a dream!"
Demonic energy exploded from his body.
The runes across his skin flared with blinding purple light.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The surrounding air shattered under the pressure, sonic booms echoing endlessly.
"Stubborn resistance," Ethan said flatly.
White lightning flashed across his eyes.
After Original Power transformed into Divine Power, its color shifted to milky white.
Brilliant white light gathered in his palm, arcs of lightning snapping and crackling within it.
Thunder roared.
Even a few stray arcs made the entire Demon Sealing Cave tremble violently.
If Ethan did not restrain himself, the mere fluctuations of this power would be enough to collapse the entire Demon Sealing Cave.
This was divine power.
Only upon reaching the Ultimate Supreme did one truly touch the fundamental essence of power.
Ultimate Supreme and Upper Supreme—
They were worlds apart.
"What… what level of power is this…?" Azraeth stared at the lightning sphere forming in Ethan's hand.
His scalp went numb.
His fighting intent wavered.
"No—there's still a chance," he roared inwardly.
"As long as even a trace of flesh remains, I can resurrect through bloodline rebirth!"
Azraeth abandoned all hesitation.
The demonic Patterns on his body blazed brighter, light flowing rapidly.
His aura surged violently.
"Blood Essence—burn!"
"Soul—burn!"
He bit the tip of his tongue, releasing his soul power.
Blood spread across his body, his aura forcefully rising, briefly touching the threshold of the Supreme.
"Forbidden technique—Soul Sacrifice!"
Azraeth snarled.
Behind him, thick black mist surged violently.
And within the mist were demons of different shapes, each with a pair of blood-red eyes, wandering through the cave.
